Dell will be offering a $750 coupon starting tomorrow, sounds good. No free shipping though, which is around $49.00.
Pretty much all of us got in on the 600, 700, 8600 and/or 9100 laptops, which had a $500 coupon, $200 Rebate and free shipping-$49 bucks, for a total of $750 bucks off.
So, we all received around $800 off. Now they want to offer a $750 rebate and charge shipping, around 50 bucks, so around $700 off. So, wheres the deal? Or am I missing something?
I mean, yes, it is still a very good deal, but I dont think we all need to be sending back our laptops and try to go for this deal. The only thing that is better is that you dont have to wait for the $200 rebate.
Think your math is a tad off. $500+$200+$49=$749 SAVINGS so for example using deal 1 ($1500-$500-$200+no shipping=$800) deal 2 ($1500-$750= $750+ $49shipping = $800) Same savings no rebate to deal with |

Looks like you can get a 600m for $771 after $49 rebate on shipping. I ignored the 15% off and configured base plus 1 stick 512 megs ram, DVD/CDRW, 60 gig HD, 1.5 gig. Looks to be the cheapest all year.. You can save $21 by going with two sticks of 256 megs each for ram. Brings it to just over $1500. |

Hehehehe, whoops, I messed up with the math. Ok, so it is pretty much the same deal as before, excpet we wont have to wait for the rebate. |

Part of the reason why it doesn't work is because the coupon isn't valid until tomorrow. |

Who wants to bet the coupon doesn't last until the end of the day on the 20th? |

Why not get both???? One for home and one on the go =)
Honestly though it really depends on how portable you want your laptop to be. If your using it mainly in the office or have no intentions of moving it around get the 8600 (or maybe even the 9100 for the power). If your on the go...then get the 700m or if you want to compromise get the 600m. |

i'll be going back and forth between school and home..i like the 8600 because the screen size, i have a wsxga+ i paid 1236 after 150 rebate..also will hopefully reiceve around 140 in credit for higher education...so it will be around 1150 plus 50 coupon..not sure how much the new deal will be..i guess around 900 after tax..so a decent savings not a huge one...is this deal worth it to get a new one and sell the other one? i'm not planning to really play games on it..mostly internet use, dvd's, and for school..is money is about the same..which would any of you prefer..the i8600 or 700m or 600m? |

Ha ha. Yup, that thread is now locked. Was good while it lasted. Still, all that matters is that we're gonna get our greedy little hands on lots of new lappies tomorrow. |
