If they were too expensive then apple wouldn't have over 50% marketshare...

If they were less expensive Apple might have 90% and even more iTune customers than now

Here's the computer.

It won't let you add it to your cart, however.

AGP slot, XP Home, firewire, card reader, etc. That is sweet for the $.

For less than $200 this is pretty outrageous for a new name-brand machine with a 1-year warranty. I don't think you can get any cheaper unless someone simply gave you a computer.

Is the Sempra 2800+ considered to be equal or better than the Celeron D 335? I know that most folks on FW frown whenever they see anything that has a Celeron chip, so I'm wondering if they consider the Sempron to be equally junk.

I think I might grab this as a test Windows box. I normally run on Macs for my personal stuff, and then use Virtual PC when I need to run the occassional PC app, but Virtual PC costs more than this computer(!).

it's comparable to the celeron D 2.8ghz which ever model number that translates to. does anyone know if these computers can overclock?

Where do I get a copy of the "$20 off $150" coupon? I may have missed that email or accidently deleted it. Is it in one of the Staples coupon/deal threads, or is it a special coupon that applies to computers?

you probably haven't missed it...i just got an email with the coupon like a minute ago.

Don't you have to buy the monitor seperate to get these rebates

Cassio said: Don't you have to buy the monitor seperate to get these rebatesWhy not read the rebate for yourself? Lazy much?

The answer is no.

i think the sempron and celeron D's are comprable. Sempron might be a little better. Intel really improved the celerons with their last revisions. The celeron D now has 256 k Cache, up from 128 on the older models. The cache was the largest handycap. Also the celeron M's are based on the pentium M architecture and perform rather well in laptops. Honestly, i hate intel and all of their marketing, but of late they have really improved their value line of chips. I no longer think the hatred of the celeron is justified.

Thanks OP, this looks pretty good. I might try to get it, even though I just got my tracking information on the newegg board. I wonder how this system compares to BB's BF deal.

I also read and if I still question it I ask. Merry Christmas to you also

After dealpass 20% off this will net out at like 130 and tax. Crazy cheap.

BB BF was better if you dont' mind the rebates. 200 with 17 inch monitor, also the HD was 80 gig and it had 512 of ram. However, i don't think it had firewire or AGP.

Pardon me if I sound like a noob, but this deal seems pretty hot to me, and not just as a Christmas present. I work with a lot of people and orgs that don't have much money (small non-profits), and often the issue of recycled or donated equipment comes up as an option. At this price, for a new computer with a warranty, you could seriously bridge some "digital divides" (yeah, I know the term is a cliche, but you get the point).

I live in Houston, TX and no Staples store here. How do I get this deal? What's dealpass?

The price is just right but the PC looks as ugly as my pimpled arze. I think I'd better keep my Dell Optiplex 170L for less money.

Can you point me to a FAQ on the "dealpass" concept, or explain what that is? Yes, I did a search first, but it wasn't clear. How would I get an extra 20% off on this?

I think this deal pass the person was talking about is a savings club you join. You can look at dealpass.com but that is what I think it is but could be wrong.

FW Finance Thread

Yes, the website is Dealpass.com

Hmmm, showing up at $439 online - is this an 'instore only' price you have listed???

here is a link to the fatwallet discussion, there are others.

http://www.fatwallet.com/t/24/219522

I wouldn't waist time at dealpass.com. The good memberships come from other links (but are still part of the dealpass ring). I've purchased about 5,000 in cards with no complications.

Deal doesn't start until December 21.

Yeah, I'm often surprised at the amount of people who do NOT read the OP.

I dont think Staples is on dealpass

BTW, just to clarify, the coupon that just showed up in our email is $20 off $100 (not $150 as originally quoted).

dvrvarma said: I dont think Staples is on dealpass

Yeah, they are. I got 750 through 24 protectplus (dealpass) and i got 500 through galeria (dealpass). So far i've used homworks, Hotwire, 24protect, valuemax, galleria and essentials. No problems.

here is a link to 24 protect (probably my favorite one along with Hotwire and galleria)

OK, so how do we make this baby FAR? LOL.

zainali said: op, can u stack the $25 off 100 gc coupons? that might be a little bit better.

Don't know if it's available online. I know it starts tuesday in the store because I overheard my manager talking about getting one. If it's store only, the $25 off $100 gc coupons don't stack, if it is available online, i guess you could stack the $25 off $100 gc to make it sweeter.

Skipping 1866 Messages...

My friends just died (psu problem I think). He is going to send it in for warranty repair, but is buying the enachine 3100 sempron (socket 764) for $250 with dvd burner and printer at CC this week to hold him.
