How about putting AR, PM and freakin' FRYS in the title, so those of use who don't have one near us don't waste our time looking at this?

Just so you folks know, this thing is supposed a piece of crap, but the price it right. That is why they are selling them cheap, they don't work very well, see reivews on line.

Okay... I've never done PM @ CompUSA. Which CUSA price will they compare the Fry's in-store price to: before or after MIR's? How easy is it to get a PM @ CUSA?
If the MIR's are valid after the PM, I might actually have to go and buy that thing...

TS
PM should be always match to in store price with all the instant discounts applied.
If the manager says they pm to after rebate price, have him call and check corporate policies on PM.

Is that price on fry's ads? Or just instore price.
Don't have a Fry's around, but price seems good anyway. Anyone know about the quality and/or price on this? Warm at least? And, do you need Windows Media Center for this or can you use it with XP +/- certain software?

i bought it from CompUSA during the black friday sale and still haven't opened it. I wish it could be used to stream movies.
This thing is NOT a piece of crap. I bought one to hook up to our stereo system in our family room so we could play various MP3 and WMA files we have on two PC's we have in our home. Loading the software on each PC took 2 minutes each. Plugging in the MP101 to our stereo took about 2 minutes to hook it up and wait for it to find the two PC's music sources. And it works GREAT. I've never had a piece of wireless equipment get set up so easily! The sound is decent. That said, it is annoying if you are an ipod/itunes user. It will only find MP3, WMA, and a few non-ipod formats. If all your songs are in itunes proprietary format, you'll need to go thru the grueling task of converting to MP3s. Also had a few problems where it could not find some Media Player 10 WMA files I bought online from Buy.com, I think because the digital rights management of Media Player 10 would not allow them to be imported into the MP101's server. Anyone else have this problem, or know how to deal with it?
Item is model MP101. Frys ad says nothing about model number. Just the mfg and name is the same, roughly.
BVG may not go through. Just FYI. I've had troubles with this in a previous BVG.
Going to give it a try and return if its denied. If you file a BVG claim the same/next day, you should hear back before the CompUSA 14 day return policy is up.
You figure out the rest. OMGZ! YOU CAN PM THE COMP_USA BEFORE REBATE PRICE TO FRY'S BEFORE REBATE PRICE AND SAVE MONEY AT COMP_USA!

Just came back from CUSA and I think I got out with even better deal.
They had the Fry's ad already available, so no need to even bring my own. Told the lady I wanted to PM w/Fry's. She takes the ad and goes somewhere. Comes back a couple of minutes late and says she'll give me the MP101 for $59.99 and then she'll ring up a GC for $30.00 to bring the price to $89.99.
So, here's the math: $59.99 + $30.00 = $89.99 + tax - $80.00 MIR - $30.00 GC = -$20.01.
I guess I'll go get another one...

actually i think the $30 gc acts like the $30 pm...so you're still at $10 AR. though i thought CompUSA does 110% match? could be wrong.
overall it does sound good and seeing as i have both stores nearby, looks like i'm in for one. and no i dont care that it's only 11b...sometimes a person just doesn't need more fluff in the stuff they buy

Not sure how it was supposed to go, but there is still $30.00 left on the GC, so the deal is definetely -$20.01 forme (after rebates, minus tax, of course).
EDIT: I actually should have gotten another dollar for the BVG, but at that point I just wanted to get the deal done before anything happens.

I saw that, too, but I guess it is just Fry's SKU # or something like that. Netgear has only one of these devices in the market, so the PM should not be a problem at all.

Send a copy from here. It will match the newspaper Fry's item# to the item. I have done this many many times. Not a single BVG reject.
Has anyone tried this in Houston? I'm looking at the ad online but don't see the item in it.

I did mine during lunch break, they price matched but held the the $55 MIR like I did not know there is one.
The good thing is, they price matched to $84.99 instead of $89.99 and give me the $25 CompUSA rebate form, so that the final cost is the same to Fry's at $59.99.
I pretented that I am happy. Yes I do, cuz I know the netgear rebate form is online.
So I got it for $85 - $25 CompUSA rebate - $55 Netgear rebate = $5 + tax on $85

Do you think they will accept a printed copy of the Fry's ad? I was also going to do BVG but am not sure if they will accept the printed copy?
Does anyone know if Fry's ad is listed in any national news Newspaper?
So, here's the math: $59.99 + $30.00 = $89.99 + tax - $80.00 MIR - $30.00 GC = -$20.01.

They did the same thing for me. I was charges 89.93 for the player and given a $30 GC to take place of the Fry's rebate so you do make money. I picked up 2 at the CUSA in Montclair,CA and will provide a scan of the reciept if anyone needs it. I just need a place to host the scan.

Did the deal in Plano, TX CUSA
Netgear MP101 regular price $129.99 (with shelf tag showing both $25 CUSA and Netgear $55 rebates). Brought in Fry's paper ad showing $89.99 MP101 retail price. Discusion led to the CSR stating that the store's cost on the MP101 was right at $90 (selling at store cost?) They price matched to beat Fry's at $89.89 (I forgot to press for 110% PM) Printed out both rebates at checkout. Both rebates require only a copy of UPC label.
Added back story: I thought this item would be in a smallish box, like a router/switch size. I took motorbike 'cause it's fun. I forgot I had taken out bungies from tank bag. Box not fit inside tank bag. Only had leather thongs. Tied that bad girl down on top of tank bag and motored home a happy sod.

But, it seems that it starts to skip midsong almost constantly. Anyone else have this problem? Not sure if I'll be keeping this if it keeps it up.
I'm encountering the same issue. Any solution?
If using the Cisco VPN Client on the Media Server PC, be sure to use the Set MTU utility (provided with the VPN Client) to set the MTU of the Local Area Connection to 1500. The MTU of the Cisco VPN Connection can be left at its default. When the MP101 searches for servers, it will find two instances of the same server. One of them will fail to connect, but the other one should work properly.
