Your configurations here.

Edit: looks like they are only offering the 2200, 6000, 700m, and 9300.

Most will be good deals as long as you don't buy the overpriced extra ram etc. I got a 700m on a prior one and love it. Check the main thread
here for configs from people...

Get the 700m, minimum hd (if you need more, get an internal HD + enclosure), minimum ram (buy from eBay instead), minimum battery (buy from eBay instead and sell the one from Dell). Use a credit card that extends mfg warranty (worth more than 2% DPA, imho). Later on, get a wireless notebook optical mouse.

Definitely the 700m. If you're really into gaming and are the guy that likes to have all the toys, then a 9300 *might* be worth it.

hm..

last week i got the Dell 6000 with these upgrades:
wuxga (1900x1200)
80gig hd
3yr warrenty

$735 + tax

todays deal w/the Dell 6000:
wuxga
40gig had
standard 1yr warrenty

$665 + tax (750 off, $50 off dpa, 2% dPA, 3% FatCash)

i save $70. 40gigs more and 2 more years on warrenty worth this? then again, i dont see myself ever using up a 40gig hd on a laptop, much less a 80gig. that leaves the warrenty...

should i cancel last week's order and get this one?

Earlier this month I bought a 6000 with the $750 off $1999 coupon

P-M 730
512MB RAM
80GB HD
ATI x300 128MB RAM
DVD-RW
9 cell battery
3 year warranty
Windows XP Pro

$1298

I just did a quick config with today's price and coupon and it's the same price after coupon

alert mods

about the extra 1 yr warraty by using a regular cc, will that one extra warranty can be found under your service tag?

alert mods

maybe I am doing something wrong, but similar configurations amounted to over $2000 for me. Can someone help show me how you did it. I despirately need a laptop but pockets not too full.

alert mods

I completely agree with millionaire on the 2% DPA thing not worth it since I get the extra year of warranty with my AMEX! I got a 6000D (i liked the separate video card rather than the integrated one). I also wanted a bigger screen than a 700m.

My config is as follows:
inspiron 6000, 256 MB RAM, 60 gig HDD, WUXGA, CDRW/DVD combo drive (i have an external USB 2.0 DVD burner already),64 MB video card, 2200 wireless network card.

I did not have any DPA or concession coupons unfortunately!!

Came to $806 + tax after applying the $750 off coupon!

alert mods

Sorry, but can anyone tell me which is the best value for the buck?

TIA

you have to monitor the hot deals forum for Dell coupons. the $750 off coupon is the best and comes up a few times a year.

I paid $1298 for my config on May 9th. Without the coupon it's $1768 shipped or $2048 before any discounts that Dell normally offers.

I hear a lot about using AMEX and whatnot for the warranty extension and how that is advantageous over Dell Preferred Account. However that depends on the (1) interest rate of your Credit Cards, (2) your availability of cash, and (3) your personal feelings towards warranties.

(1) DPA offers 0% interest until Jan. 2006, and most CCs that I can imagine have higher rates. Instead of paying off my CC bill to avoid interest, DPA allows me to keep my cash until Jan 2006 (minus minimum payments)

(2) If you simply don't have spare cash on hand between now and the next month, then DPA is definitely better.

(3) I've owned a Dimension 8250 and an Inspiron 600m in the past and have used neither of their warranties. I just have a personal dislike towards Paid-Warranty. Using AMEX to get the extension is paying for warranty in the sense that you miss out on 2% DPA Discount, which is like 20 bucks.

So consider those things before you choose your own form of payment.

A client really needed a laptop with a 17 inch display, so i got him the 9300 with this -750 coupon.

The 9300 came with a free printer, that he may or may not want, but hell, free shipping to boot...

this is a great coupon. makes me look real slick in the eyes of all the ppl at that small office.

Best deal is get a 6000D with Pentium M 2.0Ghz

256M DDR2(115.00 to get a 1GB ddr2 from newegg.com)

60GB/7200RPM

128MB ATI Readon X300

15.4"SWXGA(Best size display) 17"too big and laptop too heavy for the laptop also 15.4" with WUXGA will let you see nothing on the display(too small)

DVD/CDRW Combo(spend 60.00 dollars for the USB 2.0 16X DVD+/-RW will much better than sigle DVDRW

total cost only 1126.00 after 750.00 off and 35.00 big buck

BEST LAPTOP FOR GAMING FOR SAME PRICE.(if no for gaming just go to buy a laptop with celeron M 1.3GHz it is enough for everything)
