So now the ethical question is, do I go back and raid the rest of the store for these? Would anyone be interesting in buying them at cost + small markup?

Better a FW member getting them than the unregistered lurkers grabbing them all .

There will be rebate(s) involved.

GreedyEbayer said:the 10 I picked up last night all rang up $139. I'll try tonight for another 10, hopefully the price changes. had to "accidentally" misplace the drives in various places throughout the stores. I've got 20 hidden total across 8 stores, when tomorrow I'll go back when they open and pick up the remaining 10. soupcxan, what was the sku that didn't match? If you're talking about the one on the reciept, that is the UPC code, not the sku.

lol, cool username. 20 hidden across 8 stores! it'll be like a scavenger hunt tomorrow for me.

Nice post OP.

I got couple of questions -

1. What is the max hard disk size this case supports?

2. Can I plug in a USB wireless NIC in to the USB port and use it as a network wireless HD?

Just the case (excluding the 120GB HD) is worth $30.

Don't know about your OM stores but at the one I went to, you had to get a ticket from the shelf (they had an empty box) and take it to the front so they could get the drives from the back. Would be pretty hard to hide them, but I guess you could steal all the tickets so it would appear to be OOS. It was a good story, GreedyEbayer...had me going for a second.

Do we have telnet access to these things/Hackable?

I dont like the sound of this.

Extracted from FAQ

10. Does NetDisk have an IP address?

NetDisk does not come with an IP Address and does not run TCP/IP. We have developed a technology called NDAS that is designed to run with lower overhead and eliminates the need for a processor. In turn, this makes speeds much faster and data more secure.

BOOO! Worthless to me ,then.

So what!?! eBay the tickets! lol

OOS in my area

Apparently they were on clearance awhile ago, and they have none left.

Any chance there would be a shipment coming tomorrow with a truckload of these things?

It's a poor drive actually. You have to load specific software to access the drive, let alone, only 1 person can access it at a time. Bought one for the office, and failed within 45 days. Poor build to it, and it runs very hot.

You can't always look at the price. The quality is most important.

I'm totally pissed that there isn't an office max closer than 45 minutes away! Why in the world wouldn't Baltimore/Washington have a closer one?

Great find OP - green for you.

Here are reviews of the same unit in a larger size (NDU10-160, deal is for the NDU10-120):

epinions.com 12 reviews

Overall it gets 3 stars out of 5, however all the negative reviews deal with the ethernet capabilities of this drive not working so well. If you're buying it just to use with a single computer via USB 2.0 (like I am), I think you'll be fine. Ignoring the ethernet features, $40 for a 120GB USB2.0 drive is pretty hot. I don't see any reviews that talk about the drive being of low quality like a previous poster mentioned.

Review: Ximeta NetDisk 120 Network Attached Storage Device

Unfortunately, even when you give it what it wants, it doesn't work very well. The setup routine installs Ximeta's proprietary LPX (lean packet exchange) protocol and a "NetDisk Administrator" applet. Once I'd entered the serial number and write-enable code from the sticker on the bottom, the drive appeared in "My Computer" as a normal hard disk.

In a nutshell: save your money. The combination of proprietary LPX protocol and extremely buggy drivers make this a losing proposition for your valuable data.

Hmmm...which is why it's being cleared out at 30 smacks! Caveat emptor.
