titewad said:AbbaZabba said:heh outpost and buy, both bait and switching today. Business as usualYou ought to learn the definition of bait & switch.
Bait and switch (Wikipedia) A bait and switch is a form of fraud in which the fraudster lures in customers by advertising a good at an unprofitably low price, then reveals to potential customers that the advertised good is not available but that a substitute good is. The goal of the bait-and-switch is to convince some buyers to purchase the substitute good as a means of avoiding disappointment over not getting the bait, or as a way to recover sunk costs expended to try to obtain the bait.
Note that in order to constitute a bait and switch, there must be no intention to sell the original bait. Other advertising practices, such as the use of loss leaders or the use of sales techniques to steer customers away from low-profit items, depend on many of the same psychological mechanisms as a bait and switch, but do not constitute a bait and switch as long as it is possible to purchase the original item. Likewise, advertising a sale while intending to stock a limited amount of, and thereby sell out, the loss-leading item advertised is legal.

I got in beforethe price change. I got the confirmation email. Later on I received this with subject line "Important notice of delay regarding your order #..."
Hello xx,
We are writing to let you know that we are experiencing a delay in being able to fulfill one or more items on your order #xxx. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause you.
Your order status can change quickly as we do our best to fulfill your order, and it's possible that by the time you read this email the delay affecting your order might have been fixed. It's also possible that the items you ordered could still be unavailable.
We recommend that you log into your MyAccount at <https://secure.Buy.com/corp/support/login.asp> to check your current order status. From there you can determine if you would like to wait for your items to ship or if you would like to cancel all or part of your order.
If you choose to wait for the item(s) to ship, we will get your products to you as fast as we can and we appreciate your patience. You will not be charged for anything unless and until it ships.
If you can't wait and you choose to cancel, the cancellation will go through immediately as long as the item has not entered the shipping process. If it has entered the shipping process you won't be able to cancel it. However, it will ship to you within a day or two and you can always refuse it or contact us for a return number so you can send it back to us for a full refund including shipping.
From your MyAccount, you can also track shipments already sent to you, change your account information, and update your ship to address and payment information.
We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. Please note you will not be charged for any cancelled items.
If you have any questions, please visit us at Buy.com/support.
We appreciate your business.
Sincerely,
Customer Support |

Checked the status of the order and says "sent to warehouse". No price change on my receipt. I am still not out of the woods. With Buy.com you are never sure. |

got the same email. Looks like they're gonna let it go (I wouldn't expect them to cancel orders over 5$) but it might take awhile to ship. Oh well, I can wait. |

eklipse said:Still works here. Except that lots of people apparently were able to order at the lower price. It seems like now they either have a bug in the system or raised the price but are still showing the old price somewhere.
I really do not understand people who immediately assume foul play (or trying to rip you off) when a more obvious answer is technical issues. |

By the way, anybody else has problems recently checking out at Buy.com with FireFox? Mine freezes up at some point. Browsing is fine. Must be only with secure pages. |
