Kworld has been offering rebates on a variety of their TV and capture cards at various resellers for at least the last 9 months. I'd like to take advantage of one of the current ones, but I haven't seen any feedback in regard to how Kworld is at honoring them.

Of two people I've found who've purchased Kworld rebate items one was denied because he sent a copy of the UPC instead of the original, although the rebate form he had stated either was acceptable. The other person received his rebate in 6 weeks with no problems.
I purchased a Kworld TV-card from NewEgg that had a rebate in July. I sent the rebate with a certificate of mailing from USPS and included a copy of my invoice which wasn't required as well as the original packing slip and UPC which were required. I received a hand written check 3 weeks after mailing in the rebate with no further action required on my part.EDIT: Sorry, I was mistaken - I haven't received my rebate from Kworld. The check I received was from Hytek for a rebate in the same amount on some Patriot brand memory. I didn't remember I had the rebate coming from Patriot because it took 10 weeks to arrive, so I just assumed it was from Kworld because of the amount.
I currently have 2 KWorld rebates in process at this time. Both were sent in the last week of May 2005. The rebate form allows for 12-14 weeks before receiving the rebate.
It was over 12 weeks, so I called them at 949-450-0052 (yep! not an 800#, but I have a cellphone with nationwide LD) and left a message with one of the CSR's to transfer to the rebate area. Within 24 hours, I received an e-mail reply that acknowledged both rebates and to allow for a couple more weeks of processing.
I'll post an update when I receive those 2 checks.

Neverpayretail: have you got your rebate yet?
I had rebate for kworld USB2 video capture device from newegg.com. I sent in early June. Nothing happens so far. I gave a call today (thanks for the 949 number) and the CSR told me to send in an email for rebate status request. I sent one. I'll let you know what happens.

Nope! Haven't gotten it yet. If I don't see anything by the end of this week (which will be the about the 16th week for both), I'll be sending another inquiry. Just have to have a little patience with these weasles.
I waited 12 weeks sent an email, no response. Sent a email there after every week, no response. Called them around 18th week and they said send an email. I said I did and no one responds, the CSR guy took my info and said will pass it to the rebate dept and get me a reply back. The next day a reply did come saying they did not have my rebate.
Fed up I just went to counter 45 at Frys. It was a Frys Kowrld product a TV Tuner card bought on 5/20. The rebate supervisor at Frys got on the phone with the supervisor at Kworld (Emily), got a faxed resubmission done. Next day the check was in the mail, a handwrittend one and I got it in 4 days from CA.
I have been waiting on two rebates. DVD Maker $20 mailed in may 1st. $40 Tv Tuner mailed in late June. Sent an email inquiry 3 weeks ago. Haven"t heard anything. Will send another email and call.
THanks for the phone # OP. Kworld is definatly sleezey. They Just give an email address for contact and clear rebates themselves. And what about waiting 16 weeks before emailing them.
Lets give Em' a little h*ell from fatwallet. Have links to FTC and BBB if needed.

Kworld rebates remind me of SOYO rebates ... never come unless you hound them over and over...
I've got two rebates out there and no responses from email or phone ... keeping the faith
Well, it just so happens that I got 1 of my 2 outstanding rebates with Kworld. Sure enough, it was a hand written check and a low check#. Wonder if they open and close accounts a lot or they just don't pay that many rebates!
It's not quite over yet, as the 2nd rebate was sent days after the first! Let's see if they get confused about 2-$30 rebates to the same address, but different promotions. That situation is already happening with a Midisoft rebate, but that's another rebate rant!

Finally, I got my rebate (a hand written check).
After the 1st call and email, nothing happened (see my early post). Then I called again, they told me they could not find my original submission (actually they called me back for this info). Re-submitted as their special treat, I got the check within days.
Got my 2nd rebate check in the mail today! Funny that I just sent them an e-mail regarding this one, but this check must've been in transit before I sent it.
Using an e-mail correspondence worked for me. I sent them an e-mail with no malice and all the facts. The responses were prompt (within a day or two). I got my check.
Mine arrived last week, after about 13 weeks. It was hand-written. I did inquire by email a month ago just to verify that they'd received my rebate form, but I didn't have to call or anything to get the check. (This was from a Buy.com promotion.)
After calling i finally got a $40 hand written check today.
I think these people are scamming the public.
My brother and i will not be getting our $20 checks. We're told kworld never recieved them.

Got one of my Kworld rebates($40)-still waiting on the second one($20). Mailed in the first one on 6-12, emailed for status on 10-12, didn't get a reply, but my hand written check came today(10-18), it was mailed on 10-14! Sending an email must have helped! Second rebate was mailed on 7-5, so hopefully it'll show up soon.
Having problems getting your rebates? You could always complain to the BBB or FTC.
http://www.bbb.org/
http://www.ftc.gov/
Kworld has the the worst rebate procedures i have seen.
Clear rebates themselves No 800 number Only and email address If rebate is lost too bad;no second chance ect.

I sent in mine with certificate of mailing(total=$1.27) because the rebate amount was only $15. I mailed it out 13 weeks ago and only just now have emailed them to inquire about the status of my rebate.
For $40 I think I'd send it by certified mail so I could purchase a return reciept at the time of mailing so I would have proof that they had recieved it (total=$4.42).
I don't think that any form of insured mail would cover the rebate amount if it was denied because Kworld claimed they didn't recieve it. But you could call USPS at 1-800-275-8777 to ask them about this to be sure.

I bought the DVD Maker FAR from Buy.com in July, no rebate yet. I just got off the phone with a CSR who told me to send my information to rebate@kworldcomputer.com, so I did. I also included scans of the rebate forms in the email, just in case. I hope I don't have to do much pushing.

I didn't send any scans, just a detailed email to Rebate@kworldcomputer.com on Oct. 22 and recieved a reply on the 25th that I'd recieve my rebate shortly. That was 2 weeks ago. The hand-signed check #155x dated Nov.3 was in today's mail. That makes it 14 & a half weeks since I mailed it in on July 27. I only had to send the one email.
edited to provide dates and check # for anyone who's interested
I finally got my kworld rebate on their pci tuner 11/08/2005, over 14 weeks since 7/20/2005
Had to write two emails and eventually I got a hand typed and personally signed check for my $30. This is similar to other reports from others about kworld, very strange. Check was number 157x for those that get checks to compare.
I wonder if they have a rebate program at all and just write checks to the ones that complain?!

I dont think Id buy anything through Newegg etc with rebates. Its hassle enough with CompUSA and they back the firms that sell through them. Newegg , I havent seem anything that says they back the all the rebates offered through their website.
I think FRYs issues a statement when they had problems and I havent had any problems getting rebates on memory through them in he past.
Other places too like Mwave, Buy.com ---- it would have to be a well known firm for me to go for a rebate like Kingston, WD etc.
I noticed I think itwas an AOPEN LCD with rebates at NEWEGG and the consumer reviews there say they never got their rebates and they are hefty around $70 in the current rebate deal. Id be pissed if I didnt get a 70 buck rebate.
I bought 2 Kworld products from Buy.com in July. I mailed in the rebate forms and heard nothing. On 11/4 I sent email to Kworld... they replied a few days later: Unfortunately we could not honor your rebate due to the reason: you did not enclosed original or copy of sales receipt.(packing slip is not considered acceptable receipt.) Usually the rebate company would rather have the packing list than Buy.com's order confirmation page, but whatever. I sent them the order confirmations. Here's the reply to that: Resubmission of this rebate request will not be processed That wasn't on the rebate forms (not that I would accept it even if it were, it's ridiculous). So now I've complained to Buy.com & BBB and we'll see what happens.
Update: As a result of the BBB complaint, I eventually received both rebates. The last person I talked to at KWorld was "Candy" - I suggest asking for her.

I sent in my $20 rebate request on 07/21/05 and have waited the 12-14 weeks. Their request form stated that you should wait until week 16 before calling them at 949-450-0052. I called and was told to send an email to rebate@kworldcomputer.com. Hopefully I will get a response.
I also noticed that they requested that you should write Fry's Electronics and its item number on the envelope - 4327625. I hope this does not become a technicality!

Is that what your rebate form stated?
The rebate form for my Newegg purchase said: Original or copy of sales receipt (packing slip if ordered online) I included a printout of my online invoice as well as the packing slip, just in case. I think other forms I've seen for Kworld rebates at other retailers say the same as mine did.

This reminds me of NubyTech's scam... when they would deny EVERYONE's (it seemed) rebate and required a certificate of mailing to prove you mailed it out in the allotted dates. I never got my $20 rebate.... and I wouldn't have bought the product if it wasn't FAR. Maybe I should've gone to Fry's to complain.
Yea, I'm just using this topic to rant. I had hoped NubyTech went out of business, but no, they're still up and running.

It just stated: original or copy of the sales receipt
I have received rebates twice. When it comes time for rebate , just e-mail Rebate @ Kworldcomputer.com. Both times I had my rebate hand written in 2 weeks time.
This is the response I got from KWorld - I offered to resend (fax) it, but have'nt received response since 6 days. I threatended them with a complaint to BBB and FTC, but to no avail.
Dear Customer, Thanks for the e-mail, unfortunately we could not honor your rebate due to the reason: you did not enclosed original or copy of sales receipt.(Rebates Receipt is not sales receipt)
Call them 949-450-0052. You got to pressure these people. kworld is the worst company that i've dealt with for rebates. BBB FTC would be fine to complain to.

fluker said: After two complain emails and filling the following forms, I got my rebate.
Bought a TV tuner card from Frys(5/20/05). after 12 weeks I contacted through email and they said they dont have my rebate info. I sent them my copies of submission. Then they said, they could not honor it because of no sales receipt. I took printout of the entire email and went to frys' along with the copies of the rebate form, sales receipt and UPC. They said they will followup with kworld. Today I received my check from Frys'.
After 28 weeks and lot of follow ups, finally got my rebate(Not from Kworld, but from Fry's)
Well, it's a long lesson learned, NEVER buy anything from KWorld...have too much of a fight and hassle in store. Sent in rebate......waited 16 weeks, emailed them.....got the same email as above. Rebate denied because packing slip sent instead of Buy.com receipt. Emailed them saying ok, where do I fax my copies and yes I can obtain a receipt from Buy.com (kinda stupid really, packing slip is better proof). They emailed me back that rebate would not be honored no matter what......I'm thinking, yeah that's what you think, I haven't lost a rebate yet - I'm a regular pit bull when it comes to my rebate $$$! So, I filled out a BBB complaint form, which is pretty quick and then emailed them basically saying that their rebate form tells us to keep copies of everything....so if we can never resubmit these copies, whether it's our error or theirs, then they can't have that on their rebate form. Instead they need to put in big letters, YOU ONLY GET ONE CHANCE AT SENDING THIS IN, IF THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG....TOUGH! Course no one would buy there stuff for the rebates. Anyway to make a short story longer , they personally called me and gave me their fax # & their email address to send my copies and 'suddenly' they are going to honor my rebate. I say, great! He says and we'll consider this BBB complaint closed , I said ok, when I receive my check consider it closed. They DO NOT like those BBB complaints!!! Whatever you do DON'T give up or they've won!

Kworld is underhanded in the way the deal with customer rebates. Take a few minutes and file an online complaint with the Los Angeles area Better Business Bureau. You'll get your rebate check!
Besides the fact that the card looks a lot like one of those promotional things that companies are always sending out where if you use it they subscribe you to something and you're better off not doing it, and it was mailed over 5 months past my original rebate postmark date, I should mention that the card has a $25 Excess Usage Fee, so if you accidentally exceed $30 they basically get almost the whole amount back. The best way to use it is to find a retailer that lets you split the cost of a purchase between check/cash/credit card and the $30 debit card, charge the difference to the first method, then the remaining $30 to the debit card, hence using up the entire amount at once without having to keep a running total of the amount charged and risking going over. So it looks like KWorld has devised a new set of hurdles AFTER getting the rebate corresponding to the ones before.
Edit: Should have also mentioned the card has an expiration date of 9/30/2008, which is reasonable.
