Anyone still subscribed to this forum? If so, have you tried to change the rear tire on this thing? I got a flat and any tips would be much appreciated. |

How to make your 750W Panterra Scooter faster
You can successfully over-volt the scooter to 60V instead of 48V by adding another 12V 17-22AH SLA battery. Doing this will increase the top speed of the scooter a bit (15-25%) and may help a little with climbing small, short hills. The motor may run hotter so use caution if you will be making a long trip or climbing a lot of hills. You will need to give up some underseat storage area as well as separately charge this battery with a 12V charger. You will need some basic tools like a phillips head screwdriver and a deep socket set with extensions.
To do this you will need to completely disassemble the rear of the scooter. Next locate the green wire connected to the negative terminal of one of the batteries in the lower battery box. Disconnect this wire and extend this wire into the underseat storage compartment where it will connect to the negative(black) terminal of the additional battery. Next connect another wire to the original negative terminal that the green wire was connected to and extend this wire into the underseat storage compartment as well (try to use a different color than green wire preferably red and use heavy gauge wiring.) Now reassemble the scooter making sure that both wires are accessible in the underseat storage area. Finally add the additional battery connecting the green wire to the black terminal of the battery and the red terminal of the additional battery back to the new wire coming from the original battery's negative terminal. Make sure that you do not connect the battery backwards. Be sure that when recharging using a 48V charger to remove the additional battery and connect the two wires under the seat together (back to only 48 volts.) Be extremely careful to avoid short-circuiting the batteries (direct connection of positive to negative terminals) by keep terminals covered and using extreme care with long exposed metal surfaces like the bike's frame, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc. Also be careful when removing panels to disconnect lights, avoid breaking flimsy panels, retain all parts removed, and remember where everything goes for reassembly. In addition make absolute certainty that the scooter is off and that the breaker in the seat area is off at all times.
Do this mod at your own risk. I did it with 6 volts then eventually 12 volts and the scooter seems to be okay. I am enjoying greater top end speed although acceleration is about the same. It really does help hill climbing initially because you can hit the hills with more speed initially.
