There was a delay in delivery from LG, not from Home Depot. But after an extra 4 days we have them installed and they are REALLY NICE.
We had a top of the line Maytag Super capacity top loader, which was 6 years old, tops. The difference between that and this LG is like night and day!! I didn't realize how LOUD our old washer was until I heard how quiet this thing is. I can't believe the difference!
The capacity of the base LG may be slightly smaller than our previous washer, but HUGE is slightly smaller than enormous. This is hardly a base washer. each wash can have 25+ different setting and extra washes. I cant believe anyone would want more washing options with the higher up LG models, as this one can do anything!
Also, the amount of water used was unbelievable! Instead of the gallons and gallons filling the top loader tub, this thing squirted a few drops and washed things very nicely.
My wife was right. Front loading washers are the way to go! LG has done a really nice job with this one!
Cheers all..
My wife is ecstatic with these front load washers, and so am I, as I think we ended up with a stacked combo that ended up being better than the Whirlpool Duets, and almost $1000 cheaper too.
This is my first deal. I did it myself, and I couldn't find any current washer/dryer "Hot Deals"
$799 LG WM1814 Washer sku# 140-493 $649 LG DLE2514E Dryer sku# 143-586 $29 LG Stacking kit (optional) sku# 503-840 $50 Delivery (haul and take away)
$1528 total.
-147.80 for Lowes moving coupon. No hassles when dealing with the appliance guys.
$1384 before rebates OTD (+ tax)
- 50.00 LG Washer rebate - Given by appliance salesperson. - 50.00 LG Dryer rebate - Given by appliance salesperson. - 50.00 Delivery rebate - Given by appliance salesperson. - 50.00 MA state Energy star Electric Co. rebate (varies by state) -100.00 Mail-in HomeDepot Giftcard promotion. - Given by appliance salesperson.
$1084 For a great washer/dryer.
From Consumer Reports (Quick reccommendations): For best washer performance at a high price: 31 Kenmore (Sears), $1100 32, 33 LG, $700-$1030 34 Whirlpool, $1000
Capacious and quiet, these front-loaders were frugal with energy and water. The LG WM1814C[W] (32) isn't as large as the others but still holds a decent-sized load, and it costs hundreds less.
Dryer Comments: Spacious and quiet, this dryer did very well in our drying tests. The drum is large enough to handle bulky items such as comforters. Gas equivalent: DL-G2524
For some reason, all women want a front load washer and dryer these days.. So if your wife is hassling you for one. This deal is tough to beat.
Forum title edited as requested..
Forum title edited with emmsmom's excellent deal.. will update quick link section..
Also, you'll end up spending $1184 (not $1084 as stated in your post) and then you'll receive a $100 Home Depot gift card. But, you still have to spend $1184 (plus tax) after rebates.
poor title and deal is nothing great. not all rebates area available to everyone so very YMMV. front loaders are priced at a premium because they are sylish.
over $1,000 for a washer dryer combo....
you could have bought a basic washer dryer for about $500 (Half the price). how long is it gonna take you to save $500 worth of water. one trick with conventional washers is to extend the spin cycle to wring out as much water as possible before drying. also hang dry as much as possible (FREE !!!!!)

Holy smoke! I'm trying to help out. If your in the market for a front load washer, it's a great deal. Except for runningman, all you people do is complain?..
Thanks for the "sense of community". Next time, I'll keep my mouth shut and keep it to myself.

There are always some complainers, don't worry about them. For those who are in the market for a set such as you describe, this is a great deal.
Just remember, a lot of FWers are here to buy stuff because they are cheap, not because they actually need them.
Don't fret. You posted a good deal that many would be happy to get. We have had our LG front loading washer for a year now and anyone who says they aren't worth the cost needs to run the numbers. And then realize what those numbers actually mean.
Anyway, enjoy your new set! If you have any questions, PM me.

There is a lot more to front loaders than just "stylish", My LG front loader only uses a third of the electricity my old energy efficient maytag top loader did. But the big diff is they clean like crazy and they don't wear the cloths down. I can also wash big blankets and quilts and comforters, featherbeds, pillows and anything that will fit in it! I will never have a top loader again. But before you get one, study all about them and read plenty of the forums with a google search.

Besides the water- electricity- soap- savings, a HUGE savings is found in the number of washes the clothing lasts. The front loaders are reputed to see that your clothes last much, much longer than clothes handled in agitation-based washers.
This is a great post for a difficult product to get at a discount.
Anyone have a list of energy star rebates for different states?

Do you know if you have to use special soaps with this washer? Or have the manufacturers stopped insisting that's necessary. I use some hippie stuff from the health food store which I really like, but they don't make a "High Efficiency" version it.
Also, great post. I have the high end set and absolutely love it! They make great appliances, speaking from experience for over a year. I'll never buy another brand. They are the best and extremely quiet...can't even really hear them going.

if you live in CT< check the waterbury store front end by the cashiers, they always have deals on appliances, they take off at least $200 on floor models, the other day they took $500 off $1100 oven.

Thanks for posting this! My washing machine is about to bite the dust, it been making horrible noises lately. I've been waiting for a good deal on a front loader. I really wanted a front loader, but the last time I went looking, it was going to be like $2300 for the Duets set. I'll go looking at this set tomorrow. That is an excellent deal.
This is a really good deal. I'm in the market for a washer / dryer and this is a great price for LG at this size. I was going to get the 3.5 cu/ft washer because these larger capacity machines were a bit out of my "justifiable" price range... I'll be heading to HD this week to pick them up.
Thanks for the post OP.

The LG sets are amazing. tThe high end LG sets blow the Duets out of the water for a lot less money. Everyone note this is the lowest end LG front load set. They are a little smaller capacity than the higher end. I have sold LG appliances for 3 years now and I would get the higher end sets. And as for the "soap savings" someone mentioned, you should be using the HE detergent with these. Some will tell you you can use regular detergent, just half as much or whatever. HE detergent is formulated to be better with less water. It will clean better and NOT SUDS UP. Your regular detergent will suds up, ESPECIALLY if you accidentally use too much. The water pumps are designed to pump water and NOT foam so it will last longer too.

We've had a Maytag Neptune front loader for about seven years and I LOVE it. We have six children so you can imagine how much laundry I do on a daily basis. I have never used any special detergent in this washer. You just don't need as much detergent so that's a money-saver, too. It will wash a MUCH larger load of laundry and our king size comforter comes out great. Less energy is used and much less water is used for a load. The clothes, in turn, take less time to dry because the washer spins those clothes as such a high rpm that there's not that much drying time required. Less lint in the dryer lint trap, too, so the washer isn't beating the clothes to death. They last longer because of that. Can you tell I love my front loader?!

Sounds like a good deal if that's not an issue.
Most manufacturers recomend the "HE", but I use regular tide if I can't find the HE. Only thing is you use just 1/4 of the regular stuff as you would for a normal load. But I have also just put a little baking soda in the wash instead of detergent and was impressed by the wash. I am alergic to most detergents.

The only brand you don't want to use anything but HE in is the Sears models. I have know a few people on other forums that voided their warranty by saying the used the regular stuff.
One guy told me when he switched from a top load to a front he saved $100 a month on his elect bill. He had an elect hot water heater so the savings were big. Plus the cloths spin out much better in a front load so you save on the drier $$$ too. A top load can use 50 gal of water per load...a front load 16-20 gal. The savings add up quick plus the cloths come out cleaner and the load size is bigger. Its a win win deal.
Thanks OP...and around here you cant be so thin skinned

Great post OP! I was just looking at this today b/c there's an online 10% coupon for the HD.
Hey, this might be farfetched, but does anyone know if HD accepts competitors GCs?? I have a Sears GC that might be better spent on these...
Steve819 said: Couldn't you also use dealpass GCs for another $275 off? I currently belong to MainStreet, and I know they cap at $500 GC per year per store. So the saving is up to $100 per year per store. I don't know how others do things though...

when I was on my quest for FL (front loading) washer/dryer, I did a lot of research but info on washers and dryers, less alone reviews are hard to come by. but I found this website that has a lot of reviews on different dryer/washer, check them out: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/laundry/
Personally I went with the Siemens (Bosch) washer/dryer because BB was running a $150 GC promo and I picked up the set as open box and saved me ~$600 plus 2 years 0% financing. check out your local BB for open box items!

Holy smokes! I've been looking for a good deal on front-load washer and dryers for a while but haven't found anything good...until today. I was looking at the Sunday HD ad and saw the $799 LG washer too. However, the higher end model (WM2277HW) has a ton of good reviews (see here) while the $799 model seems a little iffy (review here). There's also the WM2077C (for $999) which has one very good review (here). It looks and has the same features as the WM2277HW but is $100 cheaper (comparison of all LG washers HD carries).
I've decided to sprint for the higher-end WM-2277HW ($1099 at HD and most places but there's a place that has it for $918.43. However, that place charges $150 S&H) price lookup or the WM2077C since it's identical but $100 cheaper(still can't find out what the difference is). I'm also going to have to buy a dryer (but it's not as important) so it will be the $649 LG DLE2514E Dryer...or maybe just a cheap, stackable dryer from another brand for less than $400 since there is no incentive to buy both at the same time from HD.
In addition to the info. conveyed in OP's post, there's a 10% coupon online (coupon code "29M") as well as a printable coupon for 10% ( here. I've already signed up for the 10% printable coupon but I wanted to use the 10% online coupon code but didn't see where you can enter the coupon code (can anyone help here?).
So the deal will be 10% off + dollar off GC. For me, buying $1099 - 10% + $100 GC will make the washer cost about $900 + tax. Delivery charge is refunded via MIR so that doesn't towards cost (but it does help u get that $100 GC heheh).
Finding a stackable dryer for less than $400 elsewhere is easy. LG also has washer/dryer combo too but HD doesn't carry 'em plus they don't seem too good according to this review.
Anyhow, please add to the thread because I need to find as much info. about this deal as well as any other front-load washer or dryer deals...that and I have some time before my 10% printable coupon arrives
EDIT: Apparently the online promotional code (29M) does not apply to any washers at HD. Don't know why but I will call HD tomorrow about it.
Also, can you please elaborate on the Lowes discount OP?

Thanks OP. This is a good deal.
Those trying to justify the extra cost of these machines should also consider that home energy costs are expected to increase 70% or more in the near future due to rising fuel costs and Katrina. Therefore, if someone saved $100 per month as mentioned in a previous post, they would be saving $170 per month in the near future.

I was waiting for someone to mention that!!!!
ETA: Enterkey, just sign up at a couple of the places on Dealpass, or in this case, three different places, and for the initial 1500 outlay as outlined in the Op's deal, he'd save almost 300 more in addition to his awesome deal.

Good choice passivex. I bought this from BB 5 months ago when there were coupons floating around. I bought using many gift cards bought from eBay (worked out #1300 after rebates/coupons). I would definetely recommend this model.
I think the 2277 adds a water heater, 100rpm, and roller jets over the 2077
Thanks...it also adds porcelain top for durability and brushed metal door rim. The main reason why you should spend another $100 is the Rollerjets feature (more info. on all LG washers/dryers features).
I'm sticking with the 2277. Also, I read in another forum that you can get the 10% off coupon faxed to you if you call your local store and complain about not wanting to wait for the snail mail version. I'm going to do that tomorrow.
I just did my third wash at the coin laundry (since my old washer started leaking water) and I cannot wait until I get my new washer. My old dryer is fine too but it's a little too inefficient...but I guess I can live with it if the LG washer dries clothes as well as other people are saying.

So my question is, will the WM1814 or the 2277 wash a king size comforter? I hate going to laundry mats to get those clean. And I know my top load will fit one, but do to the fact it never gets completly covered with water I never have faith that its clean. I am looking for a washing machine that WILL give me the faith I need that they are clean. Anyone with exp?

Just bought a Kenmore washer (3T, 3.8cft) and gas dryer (4, 7 cft) from Sears that will be delivered on this Wednesday. I paid appx. $1800 for both washer and driver and 3 years warranty with 15% of last week sales PM to Great indoors, $50 coupon and deal pass gift cards.
Is Kenmore any good compared to LG? my wife likes the look of Kenmore and the push buttons.
Please advise,

$799
10% off appliances 5 day event (ended yesterday)
$719.1
I also had a 10% off coupon that I bought off of eBay. Didn't think it would work cause the signs in the appliance dept said that no other offer could be used with that 10% off event. But I tried anyways
Seems to have worked. The math on my receipt is weird and it seems to have come out even lower.
I bought the 4 year ext warranty which was actually $89.99 instead of the $169 price listed on the washer
$50 delivery
$50 LG MIR $100 water co rebate $35 elec co rebate $50 Home Depot delivery rebate 12 months no payment 0%
