Here's hoping some real deals come along. The deals aren't terrible, but they aren't worth waiting in line even for 10 minutes.
Take for example the Kodak Z760 + dock. Nice deal. But no better than any of these D3ll camera deals that pop up every few weeks. |

Ahh! Black Friday frenzy already!? So many stores - so long of lines - so space/time inhibited - I wish I could replicate myself and simulshop! |

Seems like better deals this year. I guess Wal Mart learned from last year's mistake. They really got beat by the competition with the less than spectacular offerings last year. |

I have been counting the days ever since I got out of Best Buy at 6:46 am. This is my favorite day of the year. Better than my BDay, Chanukah, EVERYTHING! You really do not understand how serious this day is. I am waiting in line at 9:00am the morning before, and looking for someone to save my spot for 4-5 hours between 4:00pm and 8:00 so I can have dinner with my family. Anyone intersted? |

Too bad I'll have to work again this year.
Im sure they'll be bigger and better deals to be had the closer it gets to christmas as stores get desperate to sell stuff.

I agree. A real disappointment. I was thinking the samething as other posters. Last year Wal Mart got bashed by the financial media and they claimed it was because they werent aggressive enough in their discount deals and they even sounded like they apologized for the less than expected sales at WM and said they were going to try harder. Well the local one --- I was expecting those great deals people post at FW in the past, nope. Nothing. You can get aspirin for 20 cents cheaper , vitamins , shamppo a bit cheaper etc but the great deals ? The electronics etc are very mediocre. In fact I would never buy anything there so far. And this BF I was expecting killer deals -- its like last year super mediocre.
I have a feeling this year is going to be like last year. Last year there was lots of whining including from myself how lackluster the sales were. I was even thinking of buying virtually NOTHING when I went , maybe some disks. I ended up spending $800 because when you really looked there were lots of small things that actually pretty good , nothing huge but small and various deals suddenly popped up out of nowhere like the CC website 150 buck LCD deal that only came up one day at their website and the 200 buck 6800 deal at CompUSA which I thought was mediocre turned out to be a great deal for a long time.
Theres two things kind of going on rising prices , due to energy rising so that may reduce the availability of super cheapo goods to the stores but at the same time there are lots of worries about spending falling off with rising prices and Katrina and other disasters which supposedly put a slight damper on consumer sentiment recently. That may be wearing off though. I guess itll depend on whether they want to preserve some profit margins and tough it out or really slash prices to get people in the door fearful of a dead Xmas.
I still think mediocre sales initially with some last minute desperate clearance sales. I cant believe WM doesnt even have the 15-20 buck DVD player. Or did I miss it on that list?

Thanks OP but looks like Im hittin CC or BB 1st and maybe stop by there after unless they open earlier.. WM always has some kinda killer secret door buster deals that are worth the wait..
Please Dont push PEOPLE and by all means never ever never leave your CART unattended!!!I seen a guy last year walk to the isle to snatch something because of traffic jams only to return to his CART picked clean... |

More like someone tried to take advantage of the black friday crazyness at Wal-Mart to scam them.
The woman who claimed she was tramped had filed 9 claims against walmart plus a bunch of claims against a number of other retailers.

there may not be many deals, but that's from a FWer mindset. I guarantee the lines will be long outside of Wallyworld this year, not everyone is an FWer
For an FWer to stand in line, the stores need to be selling portable DVD players for $10, Laptops for $100, Desktops for $30, and color laser printers for $40, 7MP digicams for $30, and no rebates for anything
The stores will also need to give away $200 gift cards to the first 200 people, and they need to provide a conitnental breakfast for those waiting in line.
Even then, I'm not sure a FWer would wait in line
