The Syntax Olevia 30" tv is so tempting.

I didn't plan on buying anything major like an HDTV, but I just remembered that the PS3 will be able to handle dual HDTVs
panoramic view looks amazing
how stuff works ps3

need to find a tv with HDMI outputs tho

Black Friday doorbusters probably fall under the limited quantities/special events clause of the official pricematch policy, which would typically include grand openings, anniversaries and the like.

(I apologize for the below editorial.)

But as for return/re-buys on Black Friday, seems to violate the whole spirit of the event now, doesn't it? Not to be judgemental, not to even say I would necessarily be above doing it myself. But I have to admit, preemptive purchases on the eve of BF are underhanded -- and just waltzing in with the sale items after those who waited in line for six hours came up emptyhanded, downright galling. In some neighborhoods, such a practice might call for bodyguards -- for both customer and store personnel.

In all fairness, ComputerUSA's policy should be to confiscate such returns, and eventually return them to the floor.

AOL? Don't even get me started ... if I had a dime for every free 6-month trial subscription to a dialup ISP -- preloaded onto new desktops and notebooks -- that went completely unused ...

1. Onion, I'm aware that it's still up-in-the-air, as evidenced by my prior statement, "Hopefully, these first reports are incorrect."

2. Lush31 is a new member here. How long has he had a presence over at SD? Is he a new member over there as well? Nothing personal, but does he have a proven track record or a years-in-the-making online identity and reputation to protect?

3. Stupid question, I know. But does that $300 notebook come with a jive requirement to sign up for AOL? And will the aforementioned $250 ComputerUSA gift card be available to offset most of the subscription's cost? The cancellation process looms large ...

4. At least one of those lists is intended as disinformation. Who is submitting them, and is there any vetting process before they are posted? ... I think I'll submit my own list. You'll know its mine when you see the Pentium 4 530 / motherboard bundle for $99 out-the-door.

I especially love this one:

Canon SD200 Digital Camera & Photo Printer Bundle $199.99

Is this a Black Friday sale? Or a clearance event?

alert mods

Ad scans are up, all the good stuff like $300 AR notebook, $100 AR desktop, $300 AR Vaio desktop all have the $250 AOL rebate included. This carries over into the rest of their ad. Rubbish! That said, there are still some good deals to be had.

1. No free-after-rebate 200GB hard drive has been reported.

2. No retailer pricematches after-rebate pricing.

I do not see these deals in the BF ads. Can you point to the page that has them?

I see 256MB flashdrive during the two day sale, but it is FAR only if you buy it togather with Turbotax.

They're not there. Nothing is FAR. It was all a hoax.

Wonder how much AOL paid CompUSA off to take on their lame 1 year commitment? Even a bigger question is how many people are actually going to do it?

Other than the 160 GB HD and the 512 MB flash drive, I really don't see anything too tempting for me at least. I guess the $2.99 AR router and cards are decent provided you don't mind filling out THREE rebates per item.

Just another way of CompUSA trying to get you to lose money by hoping you forget one of the rebates or simply denying you for extra cash.

It will be a gametime decision if I'll even try to go in. Even standing outside for two hours for this stuff is pushing it.

It's up to you OfficeMax, Staples, Office Depot, Circuit City and Best Buy to make this a worthy BF.

I keep reverting back to that $398 no rebate laptop at Wal-Mart though. That place is going to be Virginia and IBooks all over again.
