Go to http://shop.store.yahoo.com/jcmorris/preorder.html, the laptops are cheap, and you can get another 15% off. I am a little supicisous though. Because if only accept paypal payment. I think if I pay by credit card, it is possible to get money back when there is a fraud. With paypal, I don't know. What do you guys think?
someone has posted this question a while back. But no one seems to brave enough to PRE-ORDER a laptop from them. laptop prices drop fast, even if you get the laptop a while later, the value might drop to street price.

When it's too good to be true... it usually is...
Just like what rml stated, laptop prices drop fast. So just wait and hopefully the price would fall soon enough.

with 15%, the price are coming out really good. For e.g. Sony FX390P is pre-order on Sony site also. It's listed at $2299.00 and they are offering for $1632.29 - 15% and on the top of it there is $100 rebate. Wow, $2300 Laptop for $1280 is pretty hot, even if it arrvies after 3 weeks.
In order to get the 15% off, you have to pre-paid the whole purchase.
Who knows how long you have to wait. They are borrowing money from us without paying interests.

I think the pre-ordering is a way to minimize inventory - they won't order from manufacturers or distributors until customers buys the system. Paypal is a way for company to minimize the cost of handling bank charges for charge cards. But you do wonder why a company big enough to offer such vast range of products will not accept bank cards... hmmm. The prices they are offering are HOT but it may be too good to be true. It is NOT supply limited since the economy is slowing down - inventories at the manufacturers should not be an issue.

Called my CC company and they told me that if paypal is the agent handling the transaction between supplier XYZ and you (as the consumer)... any charges you may have received without services or products can still be disputed. The CC company can help. So... at least this is what my CC company told me - you should check with your CC company before making any paypal transaction just to be safe.
I'm still confused to why it is preorder and takes so long before you get the products - the computer industry (CPU, LCD display, RAMs... etc) are NOT in constrain right now.

HI EVERYONE! STAY AWAY!
I am new to FATWALLET. But this damn deal I found meself over the summer. I PRE_ORDERED a Vaio FX-215, Paid them $985 after discount and all. I also had my girlfriend Order one. We both paid through paypal and were supposed to recieve the LAPTOPS in 2 WEEKS.
Guess what, they postponed the 3 TIMES!!!
HERE WERE THE EXCUSES THEY USED:
- We did not order enough to compensate your order - We will get them next week - We can upgrade you to another Model - We are having problems with our distributor - We are changing distributors - and on and on.
DAMN! I was so pissed and Supposedly spoke with J.C. Morris himself one day who told me the same thing.
After 3 months!!!
I guess when My Gf and I filled out the Fraud complaint form through paypal they had to pay up or paypal will freeze their account or something.
I got my money back through paypal. And I even got them to includean amount to cover the charge that paypal gave me.
IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE SOMETIMES IT IS!

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM "J C MORRIS" I ordered a SONY VAIO NOTEBOOK PCG FX-290K in July. The company offers additional discounts for advance payment so I paid them the full amount of this product via wire transfer. The delivery was scheduled after 30 Days. I never got this product for the next 4 months ... I had to practically email/call them up daily. Finally, I got my money refunded only this month after my lawyer intervened.
PLEASE STAY AWAY!!!

I actually ordered a Sony FXA36 laptop from them. Their projected shipping date was 1 month 10 days from the date you place your order. The date finally arrived, and I called them to find out the status. They say that they don't have my order yet and they are going to place the order immediately with one of their distributors. By the way, I had to be on hold over the phone for about 1 hour to get in touch with a representative.
The representative also told me that he will take this issue to "J.C.Morris".
It should be in mail by next Tuesday. I'll keep you all posted as to how it goes.
You're actually very safe paying through paypal but ONLY if they never ship anything to you. The seller must show a shipping record to prove you got something, and paypal is very aggressive towards a seller in this manner. However, the actual contents of what you receive is something paypal does not care about. For example, paypal will do nothing if you are shipped an empty box.

I warned you to beware.
When you guys don't get what you ordered make sure they also reimburse you for the paypal costs.

I don't wanna upset anyone here but I have heard a few good comments about this company. There was a thread on fatwallet about this company (and their laptops) and although there were some people complaining there were also some people who were quite happy.
One thing I have noticed in general is that some -- but not all -- of the orders do not arrive on time. I think it has something to do with the way they run their business. It seems like they are able to offer these low prices because they keep almost no inventory and purchase in bulk whenever they recieve enough pre-orders. My guess is that if they don't get enough people pre-ordering a specific product then the people who have already placed an order for that product is going to have the order delayed. Otherwise these guys would be taking a loss to fulfill your orders. I know this is just speculation but if you think about it, it makes sense.
Once their business reaches a certain customer base I don't think they will have problems filling their quota of sales per item and thus no more delayed shipments. On the otherhand, with their past reputation of delays, I'm not sure if they'll ever accomplish this growth.

Hi,
I'm one of the people who ordered a Sony FXA 36 from J.C.Morris & Company without trying to find out if this company is a legit.
I sent them a check for $1017.50. They said, I'll have to wait 1 month 10 days in order to ship the order. Finally, the date Dec 6th arrived. I called them to find out the status and they did not ship it because they didnot have it in stock. They said they will ship it the immediate Monday/Tuesday. So, I called them on Monday to find out the status.
Jim Morris himself answers the call and kinda yells at me saying that he has about 400 orders to process and has only 2 people to do the shipment. He said if I wanted to, I can cancel the order. That kind of surprised me, because I didnot say that I wanted to cancel the order. Anyway, I said I'll check back again during the week. Then he kinda cools down and says call back tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon and find out the status.
So I call them today (Tuesday) afternoon, the person who answered the phone couldn't find my order for some reason. He puts me on hold a couple of times and asks my last name a few times. Then he finally says, "yeah we're kinda of late on your order". "We'll ship it today or tomorrow and you should have it by Friday".
I asked him if it would help them if I came over and pick it up myself. I'm in Michigan and I was willing to drive 'til Atlanta. He says we ship from North Carolina, so we'll have to get it shipped to Atlanta. I said don't bother and asked him to ship it MI.
Need to find out what's gonna happen on Friday. I'll keep you all posted.

I think these kinds of shops are really sucks people. I saw same kind of deal in one more website rajsoftware.com. They do sell the sony laptop and camcorders.
I ordered the camcorder through paypal. They were verified by pay pal. They were authorized sellers in eBay. I cheked about the usa warranty they confirmed it. I finally paid money on aug 21. Till date, I didnot received my camcorder ($525) nor my refund.
Please be careful.

For those of you who did do this.
I suggest the best way to handle the situation is to file a online PAYPAL fraud complaint against the companies account. I did this over the summer and the very next day I called them and they quickly reimbursed me my funds!!!
Dont waist your time talking with them on the phone. And for those who sent a check....Good Luck!!! I would have never sent a check through the mail for that much.

Stay away from gpscomputers. They charge your CC as soon as you place your order then your lucky if you ever receive the product. I only received part of an order and had to file a dispute with my CC company. They lied to the CC company and I had to prove it. It dragged out for months. Check www.resellerratings.com. As best we can tell they take your money then order the product from their distributor. This is if they don't have a lot of orders.

Hello, I ordered from JC several months ago, back before september. I called on the phone and asked for a price they had on their site but changed a day later, and they okayed it. I chose the Toshiba 2805-s603 with prepay for the 10% off. They gave me extra time to set my paypal account and remove restrictions. My experience with them so for felt like they were a real company.
A week before the shipdate (21 days later)I called to check the status. They said a week ago they had got a 2 week delay, (something because of water moisture in the packaging), so that would be only one extra week, not bad. I actually got a call at work a week later from them saying their supplier has put it on backorder. She proposed another supplier that would take another 21 days. I agreed and they took 5% off which came to $73 that they'ed send as a check with the order.
During the next couple days they changed the 10% to 15% on their store and I missed out on the first time buyer stuff. Then Toshiba released a whole new line of laptops. The s504 looked very nice over the older s603 except for battery life. The s504 is also $200 less than what the s603 started out as, but to cancel my order with JC was not worth the extra 600 or so I'd pay in difference for the new one anywhere else.
About 12 or so days later I was so excited that JC added the s504 to their site. I called the very next day and had them switch my order to the s504, it was a little bit more, but the $73 I was getting back went down to $5. So then the 21 day countdown started again, but I was happy.
On the shipping date I checked my e-mail to get their number and call, but I saw a new letter from them. I hoped it it would say they shipped it, but this laptop got put on backorder too, for a total of 27 days this time. This time I communicated through e-mail and I asked a lot of stuff. I was offered $100 off or a full refund. I accepted.
Then came that problem, it takes so long to get the laptop that the prices start to drop. My total right now is 1299 with shipping and then there's the 100 mfr. rebate. At Compusa the start price is 2000 (2100 at first release) a $100 instat compusa rebate, $100 compusa mail-in rebate, and the $100 mfr rebate. Paying tax at 1900 is like 140, so after all rebates the total is something like 1840, my final total at JC would be 1200.
I was willing to wait the 27 days (Dec 12) and this time instead of planning to send a check they sent me $101.xx something to my PayPal account which is nice.
In their last major website change, they removed the model I ordered. I called a day before estimated ship date. Guess what, now they say they are having difficulty with this model and don't know when they will have it. They offered me the chance to change it to a similar model that they have in stock and could be send out in the middle of next week. They offered the 3000-s304 which has a 20gig instead of 30, 256ram instead of 512, 14.1inch instead of 15 and not the same design. At least it has the geforce 2 go still (although 166mhz DDR, not 183mhz), and a mobile 1gig so the laptop last 3.5hr (100mhz less though) instead of 1.75hrs which is good. Weighs 2 lbs lighter and has two modular bays.
I said I will call them back tomorrow and decide. I'm going to see how much of a disccount they will give me now and seeing how that model cost 350 less than the s504 I hope to get compensated. I almost really want to get a refund and pay the extra at Compusa but they're s504 are sold out, even the display model and at their website. If I go with the s304 model, the money I save could get me a 30gig modular bay from toshiba. Although there're only two bays, one fore the battery and one for the cdr/dvd drive, I could remove one when I don't need something, but I hope it's plug and play.
I think I'm supposed to have 15%+5%+10% and they better give me more now and switch the 15% to the new 20% It would be nice if I could get 40% off on anything they have, that would put the GR290 Vaio in range, it has a 40gig and a 15inch Super XGA, but only has a radeon with it, so I might skip it. I also know there will be geforce3 GOs on the horizon, but I can't start all over with JC when ever they get it them.
On this foroum or another, someone said their order could not be completed and they offered the comparable model s504, I bet he's pist that this one can't be completed either. I ordered mine right when they put it on, so no one who ordered it probably got theirs.
I have to call JC from California, so they close around 12 or 1pm at my time, I'll call them in the morning and post what I did.
One last thing, people who had purchased from them or on order were told about the special deal they had a while back. They offered 5 items at cost with no other discount and would donate 25% of the purchase. They had the gr290 Vaio for 2100, its price at sony is 3600. Once the 5 item special ended, the gr290 went to the regular section and is 2600 something. That is still a great deal, but if their cost is 2100, then they are making somekind of a profit on these crazy prices.
http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_shop-cat-ext&loc=17392 This shows a list of top stores ranked by volume for computers. That GPS Computer Services comes up with 1000+ verified buyers and JC is second with 363-373 buyers.
I'll let you know what happens. Anyone else order the s504? What do you think I should do? If they don't get the laptop to me next week this time, I will ask for a refund. Or at least check on the anything else they promise they can get in-stock. I also plan to ask how soon they could get that compaq tower and monitor. I have two people who would get this, but if they lose me as a customer, they will lose them too. I wish I could ask them to send me extra money back with my refund to cover the cost of purchasing it elsewhere , that would be cool.
Sorry I typed so much, I just wanted to get everything out. Oh, this is funny. I caught someone selling information to a site with greatlaptop prices at $5 dollars each in a dutch eBay auction. This person mentioned some of the prices with the regular, sale price, and 15% discount which all matched JC. He had five bids and a previous auction that ended with 25 bidders. I notified JC, they said they knew of this but I gave them more information, like the seller name, previous auction numbers and current. They said thankyou and when I checked back I couldn't find any trace of the auctions on the guys name a week later.
Thanks for reading

I decided to cancel my order this morning. If they had a laptop that I was still interested in, I would of continued to wait a little bit longer.
I went to Dell and started to customize. I was surprised and automatically sold when I saw they have the 64mb Radeon "7500" available. Beats the socks off the Geforce 2 go and in power consumption. The only bad thing is that you can only choose it with the 15 UXGA screen (1600*1200). I'm young, so I don't think I will have too much trouble reading with it and I mainly use after effects, photoshop, illustrator, so more room the better.
10 minutes later after calling JC Morris (might of been on hold for 5 minutes and when they transferred me, that was about a minute or less), I got a confirmed e-mail saying JC has sent me money to paypal. I checked my paypal account and there it was, ready to be withdrawn from to my bank account. I'm very glad that I didn't have to wait for a check to arrive in the mail wondering if I'll ever get it.
Here is what you can get a from Dell for around $2080 plus 100 rebate when purchased online (ends Thursday)
P3: 1ghz M (up to $300 to upgrade to 1.2ghz)
Ram: 128 (You can upgrade to 512 with 2 dimms at Crucial.com for $100 total compared to $300 to upgrade at dell)
Screen: 15inch UXGA
HD: 30gig ( add $250 to get a 40)
CD: "Free" fixed 8x CD-R (offer ends thursday)
Module Drive: 8x DVD rom
Module Drive: Floppy
Graphics Card: 64meg 128bit DDR Radeon 7500 (Twice the speed of the 32meg Geforce 2 go)
and all the other trimmings.
Sounds pretty good. Dell seems to have new deals every week and this one with the burner and rebate ends on the 20th and I don't want to see what else they might offer that could be less. They did have free $35 shipping that ends today, but I wasn't ready to order yet.
My experience with JC Morris was well and good. I was never treated badly and they all seemed professional. Besides the backorders and stuff, what can you expect if you want to get a great as a deal as they were offering. But the laptop I ordered is very popular, so that could have effected their chance of getting it from their supplier.

Well, I just received my camcorder I ordered from J.C. Morris! I was starting to worry a little bit since I was seeing the same pattern of behavior that was described here. I ordered it mid-November and they said it might take 45 business days to get it. It did not make it by Christmas, but they sent me $107.xx refund for missing Christmas. At that time they told me they would ship it on 1/10. They ended up shipping it on 1/11 but bumped it up to overnight with Saturday delivery. Overall I am pleased. I saved over $900 off what it would have costs me to purchase it locally and at least $400 off what it would have costs to get it else where online.
I just wanted to relate an actual completed sale via this company. BTW, I did check them out as well. They've only ever had one complaint filed against them with the BBB in Atlanta. It was resolved. Every other place I have read reports about them echos the same thing, if you want it fast, buy it somewhere else. If you want it cheap, get it there. I think the only thing is you have to be willing to wait for it. Of course I know that after waiting that long, you may end up having to buy it somewhere else anyway, but when I am talking about $400-$900, I can wait.
-MicronDeath
PS - The camcorder I bought was the Sony DCR-TRV900, it's pretty sweet.

I "pre-ordered" a computer form them and even though I they had an untentional delay I got my computer for really cheap and I t was well worth the wait. I think waiting a few weeks and saving more than $200 dollars is well worth it unless you are greedy. Then you should just go to the store and pay full price. Once I got my brand new sony the only thing I was worried about was the fact that it came in the factory packaging. I guess to offer more saving to customers they don't spend a lot of money on re-packaging…No regrets here…

How long did you end up waiting for you laptop to arrive? I ordered a gr250 in december. They said it would be shipped on 1/10,and then I got a message that it would be delayed till 2/10. However, they said they would refund me my shipping and give me 3% off. That was 2.5 weeks ago. I still haven't received my refund. Their excuse was that their accounting office was shut down due to inclement weather. But it sounds to me like JC morris is legit?

I assured them that there were none. I just received another saying they want to talk to me about it tomorrow! OK, whatever, I've got my camcorder and am happy with it. Who knows, maybe I'll get another refund out of it!

I ended up waiting about 2 weeks after the "EST" as they refer to it. They where more than happy to reimburse me the shipping charges for the delay. They never said anything about a 3% discount. Though. How many companies do more than just say, "It didn't come in, sorry". I mean at first I was kinda skeptical as to if this was a scam just cause of the price. Thinking maybe these where used or something but when I got my computer and it had the factory tamper evident label on it so. Pnik I guess it is just harder to get your computer, man sorry. It seems they are turning out goods and keeping people happy…..a few bad apples…

Well, it just keeps getting better. I've been on this "we're sorry your stuff didn't come yet" email list of theirs apparently for a few weeks even though my stuff did come. I keep replying telling them that I got my stuff and I am satisfied.
Last night they finally actually read my reponse. I told them that I was extremely satisfied so much so that I mentioned it on an online forum (didn't mention which one). She replied and said they were sending me a $25 refund for the wait and the positive comments! I might be able to work this until I get a complete refund AND my camera!
I don't have any experience with this company at all, but after hearing all these stories about delays, I find the header on their hopepage particularly ironic.

Hi guys, I just found this board from a link in google groups. I have been dealing with the same crap as you guys. In the last month they've cancelled my order twice without my knowledge or consent. I've got every excuse under the moon for the delay. I even got a message at 12:30am from Jim Morris explaining that his company's financials were fine and he'll go and cancel my order. This was after I sent the customer support an email inquiring to the ship date of my order. I never mentioned once about the finaincial of this company. I think there's something up here with them.

I never heard of this site until I ran accross this thread. The laptop cost me about $1300, but that Fatwallet deals have cost me close to $15000 and counting.
