Put in three orders this week, I'm in heaven ($544.02). Even though DDD raised their prices, doing searches on dvdpricesearch.com still reveals that after the 20%, these were still the best prices on the net. Yes, I'm a film nut (film school graduate and movie poster dealer), and I now have oh, about three solid weeks of watching stuff I've never seen before. Also bought a buttload of Xmas presents from the buy 2/get 1 free $5.99 deal.
Bande A Part (Criterion) Euro Crime - Grand Slam & Revolver Spaghetti Western Double Shot - Mannaja: A Man Called Blade & Run Man Run They Call Me Trinity Death Rides a Horse The Great Silence Youth of the Beast (Criterion) Touchez Pas au Grisbi (Criterion) Thieves' Highway (Criterion) Ugetsu (Criterion) Izo (SE) The Sabata Trilogy Collection The Killing Gunfight at the Ok Corral Monty Python’s 16 ton Megaset Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Official Log Lonesome Dove Winchester '73 The Red Shoes (Criterion) Gozu Chushingura Samurai Assassin Hiroshima Mon Amour (Criterion) Deadwood Season 1 5 Fingers of Death The Virgin Suicides Batman Begins (SE) Rebel Samurai box set (Criterion) - Samurai Rebellion, Kill!, Sword of the Beast, Samurai Spy

leprechaun said:iceweasel said:I think the key point is... are you getting the discs cheaper than anywhere else? DDD deserves a break. That's the key point for you, but even if you have it tattooed on your forehead it won't change this fact: They raised their prices on many items the day before the sale, and then posted on DVDTalk that the price increases had nothing to do with the sale. Any argument you make about low prices will not make this any less of a lie.
You can't dispute facts with blind loyalty, no matter how hard you try.
Let me just clarify this... I don't disagree with you. I just look at it from a different point of view. Personally in the past 3 years there's been these "glitchs" days before a big sale. I can't see it as a mistake. I'm not thinking there was some issue this time, it's just that folks are now keeping track.
If they lied they lied, I won't argue if that's true or not, I don't know the facts. There are a lot of assumptions and a lot of "I read it, it must be true" feelings out there. I trust the dvdtalk folks, if members there say it's true, than I believe it.
DDD may have been throwing out a bone to calm the angry masses with pull down SOME of these jacked prices. I don't know, it's all speculation.
That said there are three very simple things to remember here: 1) This is business there's nothing fair about it. 2) DDD isn't in business for you, they are in business for themselves. If they do jack up prices on 10% of the inventory you buy at those elevated price well... bad consumer. 3) Are you paying less than you would anywhere else, no tax and no shipping are big when you think a $15 is $20 after tax and shipping.
If your bottom line is the driving force then the answer is simple, go where the price is the lowest. If you're one of those that doesn't shop at places like WalMart because of the business practices... well, DDD may not be the company you should support.
For me, I'm on fatwallet because I'm a well informed consumer (errr, frugal). If DDD saves me money, I'm happy. I could care less that joe's copy of SammySixShooter was jacked up before the sale. Bottom line, if DDD's price is more than others then I'm not buying it from them. |

Well, maybe we should wait until after the sale to see if the discounts automatically go down again too.
I'm guessing they will, but you should see the whole story first. |

Argh. Lost my password (or my password I wrote down doesn't work), and their retrieve password doesn't work. Is God trying to tell me I shouldn't get the A-Team, Airwolf, and MacGyver boxsets? :/ I want more than the two Stargate seasons I got earlier ;_; |

I still contend this place has the crappiest order-management system ever. Ordered a few days ago, and it's still sitting in processing or some crap like that.

I totally agree. I ordered a week and a half ago. Got an email over a week ago that it supposedly had shipped. As of today, still nothing! For the savings of a dollar or two, I should have just bought at Amazon! |

If you are an informed buyer, you should already know that DDD doesn't have the best customer service or on time delivery. But they do have great prices. Maybe you should have read some reviews before buying from them. If you had, you would have expected this instead of complaining. |

Very happy!
Ordered ~$240 on 11/11, whole order shipped 11/14 (free shipping), arrived today all present and accounted for. Saved about 33% compared to Amazon.
