I just checked some of the DVDs I'm interested in and they are selling for the same price as before (prices weren't jacked up). I ordered with the codes and got the 20%. That and free shipping, a good deal. Thanks OP. |

Not a chance. Here's a summary of what they were doing and the settlement: Illinois suit
Newegg and Amazon, for example, jack their prices around daily and then run sales based on whatever price they want for a baseline. |

Oh, boo hoo. DDD always has some great deals. Why don't you guys go b**** at a company with high prices? Anyway...here are a few cheap ones:
Walking and Talking - $6.30 ($5.04) Paris, Texas - $7.18 ($5.75) <--- excellent Wim Wenders movie Ghost Dog - $5.99 ($4.80) Election - $7.78 ($6.23) Pi/Requiem For A Dream 2 pack - $12.38 ($9.91) |

SpinDizzy said:You should be able to get the discount for pre-orders... you could the last few times around. No, not ordinarily. Occasionally, for a short time, pre-orders have slipped through with the discount; but DDD's stated policy is: --- The 20% discount offer applies only to most available DVDs, UMDs and storage accessories. Pre-release DVD's, titles marked with a (*), video games and toys are excluded from the sale. Your discount is reflected below for applicable items. Thank you for shopping at DeepDiscountDVD.com We reserve the right to limit quantities. We cannot accept orders for more than 5 units of any item. ---
I just tried applying the 20% discount with a pre-order in my shopping cart. The 20% is not deducted. |

Technically, a lot of their stuff went up by 25%. The original price is 20% off the new price. Some DVDs went up by 11%. Applying the discount to these gives you an essential 10% off. You have to have been tracking specific DVD's to know, or if you check on your past receipts, you'll find which ones.
Of the DVDs that I've bought from them:
Best Motoring video magazine various: up 25% Ninja Scroll 10 Anniv ed: up 25% Pride Fighting various: up 11%
These are from recent purchases.
Bait and switch is totally different from what DDD is doing. As the above poster says, DDD's prices are their own. While it may seem shady (I agree it is), it's their stock. Long as they have 'em in there and don't try to explicitly steer you into buying something else, they're probably not violating any laws. Course, I'm not a lawyer, so sue me. |

Yule,
You are right. They had the complete 1st season of NIP Tuck for 22.85 and it is now 43.18. It is cheaper to buy it from Amazon right now. Another one Living color season 1 was 19.98 and is now 29.27. You can verify all the price increases probably tonight only at dvdpricesearch Click on the links and you will see the price change. It is amazing how much they have raised their prices.

Good luck trying to sue DDD video. Over... what? They can charge as much as they want. The buyer can clearly see how much their order is going to be. No one is making you press the submit button. If you do not like the price, move along to another site.
The majority of box sets are becoming cooler though. A consumer with a brain will be able to weigh the cost -20% vs. buying from Amazon or elsewhere. |

Anyone noticed that the COUPON Box is now missing from DDD's shopping cart??
So you can not apply a coupon for the 20% sale.

I've been watching this closely, and the prices haven't changed since summer... |

This happened to me in Firefox, so I tried their site in IE and the coupon box was there. |

I know DDD has a reputation for slow shipping, which usually is made much worse by these sales.
Would there be a reason to think they wouldn't make it in time for the holidays for an order placed this weekend? |

Yup, and I've been waiting for this sale to buy it. I guess I'm waiting a bit longer and will buy it when the price drops due to sheer lack of interest.
This price jacking sucks. DDD gets none of my cash this year. |

It's amazing what's going on over @ DVDTalk. The mods are deleting most of the posts where people are simply pointing on the price increases, even in a civil "Man this sucks" tone.
It's one thing to jack up prices, but when the mods of a site start deleting posts because the site has a financial interest in referral sales, that's really crossing the line. Obviously DDD and DVDTalk can both do what they want, but people aren't stupid. |

FWIW while DDD has jacked prices up, their prices (allowing for no tax / free shipping) are still lower than anything else out there, at least as displayed on DVD PRice Search. Maybe it's not 20% below the next lowest, but it's still ~10% lower and from a `reputable' merchant. |
