Now that I am spent both physically and financially after shopping for deals on this Black Friday - I see the news and everyone (excluding those trampled at Georgia Wal-Mart's) is now hyping "Cyber Monday: the biggest online shopping day of the year!" - I guess this begs the question: Why haven't I heard about this? I've been frequenting a bunch of deal sites daily for the past year and the first person to break it to me is CNN? Anyways, if this Cyber Monday is as hyped as it really is - Anyone have any threads for Cyber Monday deals?
Edit: Ooh ooh, and since no one has claimed the "official" thread title for Cyber Monday I went ahead and did that. lol - Now I'm going off to find some "official" Cyber Monday deals that I'll post up here.

Yeah this needs more attention. Ive been hearing blubs and rumors, we need some official info. Read a comment about the bb laptop going online for <$500 with a case??

There was a big story about Cyber Monday in todays Detroit Free Press newspaper. It states a survey showed that some 45 percent of online retailers will be offering discounts and incentives on Monday. Most sales expected daytime between 9-5.
Are the store only going to have just 4 items at the sale price just like black friday ?

Never heard about it except for a mention at FW. Its a smart thing to do to refocus attention back to online stores since they never seem to do a BF kind of big disc thing before Xmas and instead only do that random kind of sale which I guess we can expect from stores from now until Xmas - this week prices are horrible in stores.
They always claim online sales are growing like crazy every year so they could really grab peoples interests by doing a CYBER monday by offering huge sales across the board and it would remind everyone just how horrendous instore BF is making the contrast that much more in favor of online sales.
Im looking for a portable DVD player cheapo 7 inch or so and there were a slew of sales from 70-80 BF but this week they are all 100 at the lowest at Radio Shack surprisingly for the generic Axiom brand to around 130 or so minimum at other stores.
You know where they are blowing it? Lack of ads. They dont have central media outlets like newspapers where they can hype ads. If they are going to do a real CYBER MONDAY hype fest they need to leak news of ads get excitement going weeks in advance and then have places to post ads. Could be real coup for deal sites to become the place to host ads. However to start it off they really need to buy ads in traditional media - newspapers and magazines if only to say look at www.xxxx.com for upcoming cyber monday deals. Or maybe buy online ad space at traditional newspapers websites.

Is this another part of the newly founded CyberMonday?
Yea, honestly. I've never heard of this "Cyber Monday" before this weekend. I swear that it's something that the news media (finger pointed at CNN) made up and is now hyping it. But the good news is that it may actually force online stores to meet the hype and post up killer deals. I wouldn't mind Black Friday take2, would you? It'll be cool if it becomes an annual thing so I'm all for it.
Yeah, I heard on radio top of the hour news talking about cyber monday. people go to work and shop online (fire them! ). but never heard if there are special deals, or just the fact that online companies see big sales on the monday after black friday.

Cyber Monday is for clueless online shoppers. Those that need to go to work to use the computer and internet access to buy holiday gifts since they've just realized (with black friday and all) that the holidays are coming. There are no deals. Cyber Monday should be called "Internet shopping n00b Monday".
OK, what did everybody get for "Cyber Monday"? I got nothing because there was nothing worth buying to my knowledge. It looks like internet retailers just decided to call today Cyber Monday thinking that people would buy their overpriced crap. No we don't have any sales today but today is CYBER MONDAY so you should buy something online, yeah thats it.
What and Where online were the so called special Deals for Today? I didnt see anything different from yesterday. Do they just mean this is the busiest ONLINE Shopping day of the year?

A local news report on Cyber Monday showed you how to look for great deals when buying online. Not once during this report did they mention FW!! There was also no mention of specific sites having any BF kind of deals. This just seems to be media hype more than anything.
Maybe next year?!

The term "Cyber Monday" is a neologism invented by the National Retail Federation, and was never in common use within the ecommerce community. According to shop.org, Scott Silverman, the Executive Director of the company, coined the term during a meeting in August or September 2005 to describe an emerging trend first noticed on the Monday after Thanksgiving, 2004.

Been looking for a "Cyber Monday" deal on a plasma or LCD. Where are the deals??! I'm talking about those $999 deals on items like the 37" Syntax. No spectacular deals on HD plasmas IMO either........So far the only decent deals have been B&M. Kind of a letdown for those of us not near a Frys.
There is no such thing as Cyber Monday. Just all media hype and misuse of statistic.
According to Shop.org/Biz Rate, for the past few years online retailers have found that sales on the Monday after Thanksgiving have been creeping higher.
Based on that, they dream up of something call "Cyber Monday" but actually there were NEVER any hugh number of GREAT DEAL that day. It just mean more people buy stuff online that day.
As we know, before most people only have dialup connection at home, so most people wait until they get to work on Monday with high speed access to do some shopping.
But now, most people have DSL or cable at home, so why they need to wait until Monday to use fast network at work while they can use their own high speed internet to shop during holiday and weekend??? Do people want to get fire at work doing personal stuff?? So Cyber Monday no longer exist!!!
I think Cyber Monday is hyped(?) by retailers to encourage people to spend...even if the deals are definitely not as good as day after thanksgiving (after they've given the store away) Maybe stores are getting desperate. (did sales drop 0.8% from last year? oh well)

Cyber Monday was as big of a dud as Black Friday. For all the hype, maybe 3 deals in the whole lot combined. I'd rather shop Cyber FW Days 24-7, much better deals.
