ctbeckyw: Was ZWINBACK used online or on the phone? I'm trying to work with the web site and I'm getting appache server errors: -------------------------------------------------- Failure of server APACHE bridge: No backend server available for connection: timed out after 10 seconds or idempotent set to OFF. Build date/time: Dec 5 2007 15:12:50 ------------------------------------------------- Sort of amatuerish for a big outfit such as XM? Now I'm a little nervous to give them my credit card.... assuming I ever get that far along in the ordering process... |

ok, the answer to my question is you have to call. No code is needed just tell them the online price is too expensive and ask straight out for the $77 deal... |

Wow, I just had a REALLY bad experience with XM. I spoke to three reps who denied me the $77 deal until I got to the deactivation rep. I was then told I could have the $77 deal, but that I would have to pay $11.78 for the music royalty fee plus tax. Over $90/year total. I told him I only wanted to pay a flat $77 and he told me no. When I balked and said I wanted to cancel, he put me on hold and came back later saying he could waive the royalty fee and charge me a flat $77 plus tax. THEN, even though my subscription isn't up until October 13, he was going to start the new subscription effective today! I told him I had paid through October 13th and I wanted it to start then. He said I was being credited for the month and that credit was "rolled into my $77 offer!" I said no-way, I wanted it to start the day my annual subscription was up. He finally relented. I also said that I spent over 30 minutes on the phone and I don't appreciate the games XM is playing, and it doesn't make me feel too good about doing business with a company that treats its customers this way. I said if I saw any issues with the charge to my account, that I would call back and cancel immediately. The whole experience just felt slimy! I really think much less of XM after all that -- their service is not worth it. |

My Pioneer Airware finally gave up the ghost last week after about 5 years of almost daily use, so I started searching for a replacement. After checking here and striking out, I checked the XM website. I found the XpressRC for $89.99 after rebates(and the obligatory subscription). I spent a day or two checking other websites for a cheaper price, but found none better than the XM Store. When I went to purchase it online, I couldn't get the same price to come up no matter what I did. I finally gave up and called them. I explained the problem to the woman on the other end of the phone. After about 5 minutes of her making small talk and hearing the keys clicking on her computer, she offered me 2 XpressRc's for $39.99 a piece. I asked her what the catch was. She explained that the only requirement was to keep the second radio activated for a year. I paid for 3 months up front, but even with that prepaid, and the lowered price of the 2 units, I basically got both units and service for the 2nd unit for less than what I would have paid for even a reduced-price unit. While waiting for the order to process, she even commented on the weather up here and talked a little about the weather down in Jamaica where her call center was at. I know their recent problems with CSR's have been well spoken of, so I was pleasantly surprised to get such a good deal. And yes, I'll be a good FW'er and reduce both radios to the $7/mo plan once the radios get here!! Forgot to add that shipping was free and both units came with car kits. Will be adapting one for home use. |

It is a special retention offer/promotion. I haven't had to jump through any hurdles to get the offer, but I wouldn't get upset if they gave me a little hassle. Then again, I would drop service if it cost more than $77. |

My five year membership was about to expire. My five year cost had worked out for about $9.99 per month and I wasn't liking the renewal prices at all that I was sent by mail. I called to cancel and was offered a lifetime membership for $461.19. The catch is that it can only be transferred three times. I then accepted a promo offer of one year for $88.78. Was not able to get them to drop down to the $77. The difference is the royalty fee, apparently. Anyhow, I'm pleased to get another year of service at a decent price. |

I got an operator to offer me the $77 plus royalty fee that he would not remove. I told him I wanted the best of Sirius as well and he told me they did not have any discount packages for that and it would be $225 (which my subscription renewed at automatically), $50 more than the promo deal I got last year and he still couldnt do anything. I told him I wanted to cancel the account and he obliged, didnt even really try to offer me a better deal outside of the XM only package at $77 + royalty. |

xm employee here. the 12.95 credit for adding a credit card ended about 3 months ago. you can't get it anymore. oh, there is an additional charge of 11.78 for the US Music Royalty Fee plus your state and local taxes. just thought I would throw that out there. |

you're getting half off your subscription with this offer. so what if you have to pay an additional $11. it's still $7 per month. why are you all whining about it? oh, and your state taxes are run by the state, not xm or sirius. don't cry to us if your state makes you pay more in taxes. |

I didn't say anything about it, people are griping about having to pay the lowest rate that xm has. |

I just called 800-998-7900 Told the rep that money was tight and i wanted to cut off service. I did not say anything else. The rep then offered me 5 months for only $20 So it's only $4 a month for the next 5 months. It's a great deal and i scooped it up. Now i will call back in April and see what they can do for me then. p.s. I did have to wait on hold for about 5-7 minutes before the rep came on the line. |
