Uh oh, the bean counters have taken over.......can you say Officemax?

Yup, greedy people killed Golden goose.

"When calculating a price match, we’ll deduct any available Staples coupons, Staples Rebates (Instant, easy or mail–in) and manufacturer rebates from the Staples price to arrive at a net price. For example, if you buy an item from us for $100 and we offer a $20 instant rebate, the net price is $80. If another company’s price is $80 or more, we will not match the price. Another example: if you buy an item from us for $159 and you have a $30 coupon, the net price is $129. If another company’s price is $125, your price match would be $4.40 (110% of the difference)."

How do Staples coupons and rebates contribute to the Staples price?

When calculating a price match, we’ll deduct any available Staples coupons, Staples Rebates (Instant, easy or mail–in) and manufacturer rebates from the Staples price to arrive at a net price. For example, if you buy an item from us for $100 and we offer a $20 instant rebate, the net price is $80. If another company’s price is $80 or more, we will not match the price. didn't they always have this wording in there Policy?

What is Staples' price–match policy?
How does Staples 110% price–match guarantee work?

If you find a lower price, anywhere else on a new identical item, just show us the lower price when you buy the item at Staples or within 14 days of your Staples purchase — and we'll give you 110% of the difference.

Which items does Staples price match?

Almost everything we sell. The item must be identical, including model number, components and U.S. warranty. For wireless phones and other items with a service plan, the plan, provider, and other terms must be the same. The item must be in stock and available for purchase at that price from an authorized US reseller, whose authorization we reserve the right to verify.

Which items and services aren’t available for price match?

We don’t match our store prices to those on other companies’ web sites. We don’t price match our third–party providers' products and services (e.g., Sprint® service, tax preparation, payroll services, and custom printing), items sold on auction sites or at local or special events (e.g., grand opening, anniversary or liquidation sales). We don’t price match taxes and typographical errors.

What if I find a lower price at Staples?

If you find a lower price in one of our stores, catalogs or on Staples.com®, we’ll match the lower price, however the additional 10% of the price difference does not apply. If an item is marked "clearance", the clearance price is only valid for in stock product that is marked at that clearance price.

Another example: if you buy an item from us for $159 and you have a $30 coupon, the net price is $129. If another company’s price is $125, your price match would be $4.40 (110% of the difference).

Will Staples match another company’s price when combined with an instant rebate, mail–in rebate, gift check, or gift card, or free or discounted item?

We’ll match another company’s final price after deducting an instant rebate. If another company offers a product that comes with a mail–in rebate, gift check, gift card, or an equivalent, we will only match the price you pay at the point of purchase and will not take the mail–in rebate, gift check, gift card or equivalent into account. If another company offers a product that comes with a free or discounted item and Staples does not carry the free or discounted item, we will only match the price you pay at the point of purchase and will not take the free or discounted item into account.

Are delivery charges included in the price match?

Yes. When we compare our price to another company's delivery price, the equivalent delivery charges will be included. If the other company's delivery charges are not supplied, we will add $7.95 to the other company's price.

Are quantities limited on price–matched products?

We may limit the quantities of price–matched items, particularly if the other company does. In addition, we reserve the right to limit quantities sold to a customer.

For policy information see customer service desk in store or call 1–800–333–3330. For a price match see customer service desk in store or call 1–800–333–3330. This policy is subject to change without notice.

not a big lost for me but it was fun chasing the pricematch.

BLASPHEMY!

All its saying is they will dedcut coupon and instant rebates for price match and I believe this was always the case. Its a different matter that they start enforcing it now. But nowhere it says No more Pricematch. Red.

I rarely pricematch anyway.

No it's the area. You can't really pricematch in the city. It's more difficult that it may not be worth it.

We are talking about Staples.com

For a minute there, I thought they were doing away with the PM policy all together. I've only taken advantage of their PM policy twice in 3 years, once with Amazon and the other with their own website. I'm not too worry, there will always be great (not PM outstanding) deals with combinations of coupons/rebates/12% discounts.

About time...

Good, they will probably let me off of the blacklist now.

Lol. There's a even better reason not to pricematch for Staples.com. Since you don't know it, it's probably beyond you.

I stopped bothering to PM at Staples long ago. The manager at the Staples closest to me actually refused a price match because, "I'll be losing money if I match that price, it's below my cost". So instead she lost all of my business.

i think you know too much for your own good. so keep LOLing with your reasons to have not paid a lower price. you have the rest of your life to justify those reasons now that its over

Did anybody really expect Staples to continue getting buggered like this indefinitely?

They had to do this. Best Buy started giving instant rebates on ram and laptops ($100's of dollars). I had already lined some people up to take advantage of this since I cannot order from them.

Oh well.

Stapl3s lost my company business.

The term "manufacture rebates" is newly inserted?

all i can say is, "thanks" for the good deals. at least they still have good CS. it still remains to be seen how aggressively its enforced.

tomprc said: The term "manufacture rebates" is newly inserted?

Staples never used to take its own available rebates into consideration. In fact, at one time they used to pricematch to other retailers after rebate price. We killed that with a free ram deal years ago.

what's your point? You PM'ed into their warehouses?

Lol...nope. They were valuable because of the pricematching with coupon deals. They are now enforcing their policy. They have also started being freer with their coupons. I got 2 $20/100's in my email today and I am on the blacklist.

Well, the coupon rule was always there.
