Great thread. Thanks OP. Just what I was looking for.

BTW-Staples has unfortunately removed all other stores gcs. Don't know if they'll be back. Maybe at Holiday season only.

Maybe they got burned with people using the 12% cust appr. coupon to get discount on those gcs.

DUMB question, but I have seen alot of postings about buying gift cards from other stores. What is the benefit of doing this? Could someone please clue me in? Since I don't have any money left to buy a vowel.

For those involved with dealpass and other discount gift card clubs this gives us more flexibility as we may have cards to one place that would allow us to buy gcs of another store that we don't have available through the discount program. It can also be used to overcome per retailer limits set by the savings clubs.

FWIW- In addition to my post above... I don't know if this is happening everywhere but the Barnes&Noble near me doesn't sell gcs for any other stores and my OD only had B&N & Warehouse Music. Store employees didn't know if the gcs were being phased out or not.

Wallgreens still has what's listed above. I'm in SoCal. Is this happening in other regions?

I hope it's not widespread.

Please comment.

Thanks.

Nice post Poo. Question: Has anyone been successful purchasing USPS with (some, any) giftcard? As a business owner this could be blazing hot for flipping some of my Dealpass to get 20% off on postage.

Also, "lifeonitsown" . . . what a great idea for a thread. Could I suggest a title change?
SEEN AT: The Official Giftcard Retail Thread

for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the stock at each retail location varies so dramatically it is kind of pointless to list card availability de facto. I know I have seen somewhere on the magnitude of 20 or so different merchants at SAFEWAY (for example) at one time or another. "SEEN AT" is perhaps a more honest representation of what this thread is all about.

Same here. I'm in the SF Bay Area (Northern California) and I troll six different B&N's here fairly regularly (voracious reader and B&N Member, always armed with coupons + Dealpass cards) and I've never once seen 2rd party GC's at any of these B&N's.

I know my local Tom Thumb sells Old Navy cards and many others. My local Kroger has Bass Pro, Circuit City, Lowes, AMC, TGI Fridays, regular Visa gift cards, and probably another 20-30 local retailers - a lot of which I frequent or at least use on a semi-regular basis. This is an instant 5% at many places my credit card wouldn't normally cover.
