Should I have made a dozen separate post??? Why was this moved to Deal Discussion??

Any idea who actually makes the drive? The manufacturer is listed as "connect computers" on the website.
SAMSUNG
Thanks!
You're welcome. At first it kinda looked fairly decent for the price, but delving further it seems that their current sale with the seagate 200gb is about the same price per gb(2 cents more per gb) and conventional wisdom dictates that the larger drive is better than the sum of two smaller dives...ie: 200gb better than 2 drives of 100gb apiece. usually

I'm considering these. At least one of the adapters to replace my 802.11b adapter on one of my computers. Anyone have any opinions on whether this technology is the next wave? Or should I wait for whatever else is on the horizon? If I only replace one adapter on my network, will it be compatible with the linksys 802.11g router and the other 802.11g adapters on my network. TIA.

Sure Id go for the Seagate for 200 gigs its a Seagate and has a 5 year warranty. Frankly dont know much about the 80 gig but you have to wonder if its only 80 gigs how old the design is and how long is the warranty? CompUSA sales drives tend to have 1 year warranties except for the Seagates and Hitachis. I defintely go for the 200 gig unless all you defintely need is around 80 gig and are on a super tight budget.

Yes. Its usually a check unless it states its a gift card.

If you just get an adapter, it will function on your network as a regular G card.
Replace the 10 dollar rebate from CompUSA with the 20 dollar Buy.com rebate, the usrobotic router/adapter might cost just 4.99. Going to use my march madness coupon. will be free.
$20.00 Manufacturer rebate (though YMMV as it's taken from Buy.com)

same offer..2 diff forms ...worth taking the risk ?
also the link you provided is old as the hyperlink has a date of 1229 at the end...so i guess the rebatecenter would always argue that the latest form was not send.

Or should I wait for whatever else is on the horizon? They're not the next wave. They use a proprietary extension to 802.11g called Broadrange which, among other things, increases the radio power. If you have a router and an adapter which both support Broadrange, you will probably get an increase in speed. But if your neighbors use Wi-Fi, you might also get a brick through your window, since routers like these can knock out neighboring wireless networks. Personally, I'd stick with a vanilla 802.11g adapter from a more trusted brand like Linksys.
The next wave is 802.11n, which uses multiple antennas to get a pretty big speed boost (up to 480 Mbps, last time I heard). Hopefully the first 802.11n devices will start shipping later this year.
Any comments about this Centon brand MP3 player? There's not too much info available about this 1 gig version on the web, in fact, when you go to the Centon website only the 256 and 512 meg equivalents are listed. The CompUSA reviews on the 256 and 512 meg versions are relatively decent, so as this 1 gig version seems evolutionary, I'd expect them to be about the same.
Price is decent - I bought my 256 MB MP3 Player for $20 after $20 MIR back before Thanksgiving - not same brand, but mine sure looks awefully similar to the 1 GB version pictured on CompUSA. It's been a good player for my first one. Drawbacks (as I see it):
1. User manual may as well have been written in Chinese - very difficulty reading (poor english sentence structure, spelling & grammar). Most of it is deciferable (with patience). 2. Voice recorder works o.k., but is overly sensitive. Do not bump or otherwise move the player while voice recording - it will record EVERY little noise. 3. Batter life is minimal compared with other (more expensive) MP3 Players. I've been getting 3-4 hours/AA Battery. 4. Overall opinion - It does the job of a cheap MP3 player. Be aware - You likely will have some frustrations with this player. But cheap is tempting! The 1GB Centon MP3 player is on sale (again) at CUSA the week of 5/28-6/3 2006. I agree with the reviews in this thread. I have to use it in USB-mode (cf., Music mode works with some Win versions only) to drag and dtop mp3 files from both Mac OS X and PC (Win 2000), but that's easy enough. The manual is a joke and I haven't figured out how to do some things (Playlists, folders, etc.) but I only want simple stuff as a first time user. I first tried it with a cheap pair of ear buds that I have tested on other mp3 players and I had to crank up the volume for audible sound. Then, I switched to the ear buds it came with and they were much better: the lowest settings (1-3 out of 31) were sufficient in a quiet setting; 10-15 in noisier settings. It does appear to be a battery hog.
The thing is there's another brand that looks almost identical that is currently selling for $70 - $30 MIR = $40 AR: Power Up 1GB MP3 Player from Tiger Direct which is $10 cheaper than CUSA. With $7 S&H the cost is almost the same as the CUSA Centon deal (not including your local tax and travel costs).
