Anyone know of any retailers taking pre-orders for this system yet?
Its expected to be released before Thanksgiving and is expect to retail for $199 to $250 in the US. http://revolution.ign.com/articles/710/710088p1.html
ign.com also has a complete list of all the games expected at launch. http://revolution.ign.com/articles/709/709258p1.html
Also please lets all be good little fatwalleters... and stay away from the Xbox360 p0wn5 both PS3 and Wii or etc, thanks!

nintendo said at the e3 conference that they will offer the old nintendo games for free when you use your wii system to download the games. a lot of the classic nintendo games are pretty good.
there is probably more profit to be made on fleabay with the wii system than the ps3 base on how high sony is pricing the ps3 at.

Glad someone started this. I was looking at the PS3 at first till I saw how steep it was. Forget that. If anyone hears anything, let us know. I will be on the lookout as well.

SO glad somebody started this - I can't wait for the Wii to come out - everything I saw from E3 looks freaking amazing, and I cannot wait to get my hands on that crazy controller! (Speaking of, dear Lord, will they EVER give me Twilight Princess? Ever?? Anybody know a release date for that?)
The Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! might just get me back into gaming again! (haven't played video games since my Atari 2600 )

just because the price of the ps3 is higher dont think there wont be a demand for it the ps3 will sell out and it will be hard 2 find for weeks and some people will pay a premium to have one
I'll be in for sure. I hope to eBay enough of them to pay for mine. I was just in Japan and saw the new Mario Kart Arcade GP, i really hope that gets released for the Wii, if not super monkey ball should hold me over.

For some reason alot of people have the impressions that the downloaded games will be free. But they have not announced the price for the classic games or the way they will be distributed.
i am probably going to get mine thru a freeoffers site like I am doing for ps3. if the demand will be high i may preorder and then sell

Or get it as soon as it comes out, sell it on eBay, and make some money!

Wii is confirmed for 250 or less (SOURCE: NINTENDO)
right now, Wii and PS3 are taking preorders for games but they most likely won't take preorders until they get an official SKU #. However PS3 may start taking preorders in October, knowing wii is more popular they might do the same link

"So, at the moment Nintendo are aiming to launch the Wii on November 6th"
According to an industry source speaking to Cubedł, the Nintendo Wii is set to launch in the "Thanksgiving period in the USA" (Thanksgiving falls on November 23rd this year), with Japanese and European launches set to be "in the same timeframe". With Nintendo trying for a worldwide launch of their new system, this would probably lead to the system coming out marginally before in Japan and “a few weeks later in Europe”.
Our source tells us that the Wii will be on sale in the USA "well in time for Thanksgiving and well in time for Christmas in Europe". Details on the Japanese launch were not so clear, but our source did suggest that it would fall very close, if not before the American launch of the system.
So, we're looking at an early November release for the system. This falls quite nicely in line with a recent announcement by Nintendo where they gave dates for their DS, GameCube and GBA titles for later this year. All titles stopped before November. With this information in hand, we pushed our source a bit further to see if they had an idea of a more exact date. Today, we were provided with the following information...
"So, at the moment Nintendo are aiming to launch the Wii on November 6th"
Our source emphasised that this date is correct at present, but pointed out: "Nintendo aren't going to have an exact date in mind until they are sure they can meet the deadlines". Take it as a guide then if you will, but "they are very keen to be ready in time".
Obviously this shouldn't be taken as gospel and we're not about to shout from rooftops that we have the final Wii launch date, but we are confident that the information we have is correct; we wouldn't share it with you if it wasn't. Hopefully Nintendo will clear up all confusion very soon by confirming the launch details of the Wii. We'll have more for you as and when it happens.

I am rather surprised that this thread isn't 10+ pages given how much enthusiasm there is for this thing. Anyway, I talked to a friend of mine who was an ASM at the local EBgames (I stress was... he left right after E3 because of incompetent management). He said that GameStop doesn't expect to make much money from the Wii, so it really isn't that much of a priority for the company right now. They believe that the PS3 will be the cashcow this holiday and is getting most of the resources.

I still have my Nintendo 8-bit system. I remember when games for it cost $30-$40 and I saved like crazy each month to buy just one. I guess the money from those games went into funding the next generation of games. But I'm still playing with my 8-bit system, do'h!

This article here says Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said the Wii will launch sometime in September...
I don't know if that is in Japan only or also North America. They probably want to avoid launching near the PS3, and getting it out a couple of months early would let them get more games out before the PS3 launch, which would help with promoting the system.
The one knock on Nintendo's launches has always been that there are not many games. Hopefully this one goes a little better.

I am so excited if this actually makes it out that far before Christmas! woohoo!
I still have my good old SNES. Of course I have lost the controllers for it (can you buy that sort of thing on eBay?), but I've loved (and kept!) every NES system I've ever owned.

I was waiting for PS3, but it's too expensive imo. I believe I will get a WII.

It looks like that September release of the Wii was a translation error. Today's articles say Nintendo will announce the price and the release date by September.

nintendo wii official price and launch date will be announced before the end of september.
i suspect it will be a mid-november launch (worldwide) and for US$199 or US$249. just in time for thanksgiving and christmas!
