Here's a microsoft patch thats suppossed to address issues with power drain when using certain USB devices.
Battery power may drain more quickly than you expect on a Windows XP SP2-based portable computer

If you have a 533 and 667 memory chips in, it will run at the lower speed, 533. If both are 667, they will both run at 667.

To cool down your DV2000t.
Too bad, unlike Dothan, Duo Core min limit at 0.95v .I was able to get down to 1.00v VID at 10x. Cooler and save battery!

Thanks, Delta901 - great links!

Anyone know a power profile program that changes CPU load, screen brightness, standby settings, etc. based upon AC/battery? Toshiba has a program built-in, but I've never seen a third party one.

Oh, and the ABG/Bluetooth wireless has a newer driver version (just came out a few weeks ago) that you can find via Google. It includes a nice tray application that kicks HP's around the block.

I got this computer and it seems as slow as my 1.6GHz Celeron M from Toshiba!

Does anyone have any speed suggestions?

I had a similarly configured computer (but 13 inch from Sony and only a slightly faster T2400 processor, and 1Gb instead of 512MB RAM) that I had gotten rid of because the screen size was too small, and I am comparing that speed to this one. I would expect core duo's even with the slight GHz difference to at least be similar in speed, or at least have a T2300 be significantly faster than a lousy Celeron M! I admit I had a graphics card in the Sony, but I cannot imagine it made THAT much of a difference in speed just for normal use. Or is the T2400 THAT much better a processor?

Any help would be appreciated!

BTW, CAN a graphics card be added to this laptop?

3 Questions has any one done a PCPitstop.com speed test? My Compaq V2405US with AMD 3000+ Sempron was 1425 after a defrag and lowering the Cashe to 75 MB. I'm such a ADM fan but got in on the deal...Anyone upgrade to windows Pro without reformat?

Off topic Last question 2 year old drew on a desktop LCD with Ink Pen you think bleach would remove without damage??

I wish HP offers a 7200RPM harddrive upgrade. I do feel that the DV200t is a bit slow in opening up programs compared to my almost 3yrs old I-8600. I assume this has to do with the 5400RPM HD. My I-8600 with 1.6 Pentium M Dothan can open programs faster. But it does have the Hitachi 7200RPM HD. Also, the DV2000T, while it runs very quiet, it does get hotter than my 700M. On the other hand, the fit and finish of the DV2000T is way better than any of the D3ll's laptops ive used in the past. (I have 1.66 T2300E, bluetooth, 60g HD and 1gb of RAM in my DV2000T)

I forgot to mention the quietness and style of this computer in my post. You're right! This is one of the most awesome looking computers I have seen, with touchpad Quickplay buttons and the remote fits in the PCMCIA slot! The computer is surprisingly quiet. I got the 12 cell and like it a LOT! It does make the computer very heavy and sticks out pretty far, but the advantages outweight the disadvantages: the 12 cell allows for a better grip when transferring from bag to table and back; also it raises the laptop off the table a significant amount so as long as I am on a hard surface it doesn't become overly hot.

Whats the point of having a nice sleek case only to have the battery bulge out at the back? I mean how many people use a laptop for 6-7 hours straight? This is akin to sticking a roof carrier on your brand new Corvette. Yeah you get more capacity to store stuff but thats really not the point is it?

Answer, depends on using the unit.I bought this laptop for our flight Overseas from Fla to NY to Rodderdam, and back. 12 Cell works fine for me plus built in BT . Baskin Robbins has 31 Flavors. Got it now........

Like I said, if I wanted a people mover I'd get a minivan. I didn't get a cool looking laptop to have a tumor sticking out the back. Get it?

Do they make one that resists finger prints? If so I'd be all over it. Dude, the fact of the matter is this laptop is for looks if not for functionality. 12 cell battery is two 6cell batteris stuck together like a siamese twin. All I'm saying is why screw with the design by adding the extra bulk? If you're frequently on trans continetal flights and HAD to use a lappy for 6-7 hours then get a universal power supply. Otherwise for the vast majority of us leave it alone and just plug it in when you get a chance.

At first I thought RMclock would not allow vid adjustments but after looking at you post I figured it out. doh... I now have it fixed 6x @ .95v running on battery but set to performance on demand when on AC. Haven't noticed much performance difference with light duty stuff either way.

I fly on 5 to 7 hour flight regularly most aircraft do not have 'POWER PORTS ' SEE SEATGURU.COM LIKE I SAID 31 FLAVORS. TRY THE FORREST INSTEAD OF JUST THE TREES' I FIND X'ER POST'S QUITE FUNNY BY THE WAY, SEEMS ITS THERE WAY OR NO WAY.........BYE DUDE

Have a nice flight

The HP app doesn't really work, tho. It only displays the volume presses (not even mute), is a little laggy, and if you try to manually adjust volume with your touchpad and the tray OS icon it steals focus and won't work. It's clearly not made for this laptop series.

I didn't get it yet, but I heard it doesn't have a PCMCIA slot; rather just a slot dedicated for the remote control. Is this true?

Like I said it works fine on my laptop so if you have a problem don't use it.

I cannot delete some dirs (including the files under them) under c:/SwSetup/,
C:/SwSetup/Adobe2/*
C:/SwSetup/ESUPDATES2/*
C:/SwSetup/Misc1/*

I have been able to delete the other dirs under c:/SwSetup.

When I tried to delete them, it said, "Cannot delete, Access is denied." I tried using both File Explorer and CMD windows. Anyone seeing the same? Any clue?

You guys know any software to show me how much battery time i have left???

By the way , this is the best looking laptop i ever owned ,My Dell xps m140 , e1405 are looking like crap now plus the screen (this is a Quanta) blows both samsung's from Dell away big time .

Restart, push F8 before the Windows screen and select Safe Mode. Try to delete those folders now.

Since I will get the recover CDs from HP, I was able to delete the backup partition and merge it with PartitionMagic. You have to format the backup partition into NTSF first since it is FAT32. The only problem I have is that PartitionMagic makes a directory to save the stuff from the backup directory, but I can delete the folder eventhough it has nothing in it, just the hidden system volume file. I can live with that.

wondering if anybody else dialed HP with:
1-800-999-4747 instead of
1-888-999-4747 listed on the website.

If the HP CSR's talked like the ones in the first number, then I wouldn't mind having issues with my laptop.

Have any of you re-formated the computer? I want to install Windows XP when I pick up the computer tomrrow but I don't know if it will have all of the drivers online. Also, that won't erase the QuickPlay thing right?

Thanks!

I got the one with regular DVD/CD drive and i heard it isn't easy to remove this DVD/CD like Dell or other lappy does. Is any DVD burn drive advice to upgrade it?

I've wanted to reformat, made the recovery discs, and then started to use the popular dv8000 thread, but I am getting this error after I disable SATA and boot from XP Pro OEM disc....

I am getting a STOP 0x0000007e BSOD

I've already backed up the SWSetup folder. Anyone have any ideas???

No, AUO is AUO screen, Quanta is QDS(they are still merging). From my quick survey on SD, most people got AUO screen in their 2000T. The pre-configured laptops of 2000 series in the stores are QDS or SEC (Samsung).
