I highly doubt that the introduction of Laser tv will be a 50" for $1K. Would be nice but I do see it as unlikely.
more like impossible
once they ramp up production... nothing's impossible. if they could produce unlimited amounts, why wouldn't they? assuming plasmas and lcd's come to ~2k for a 50", then a l-a-s-e-r at 1k isn't too far fetched.
i'd be over a 50" for 1k like a ... well, insert your own PC quip here.

I was at the BF bestbuy last year.
You have to get there around 10pm and "sleep over" on the sidewalk. Around 7am people from Bestbuy will ask what you are standing in-line for and give you a ticket for it. (if it's a 20 or less per store item)
The ticket will say what part of the store the item is located. So no need to run like crasy inside.
Q: What's so Black about this Friday? A: Think about the old calculators that printed out on paper. The ribbon have two colors, red and black. As long the result is negative it prints in red. Electronic stores run about a 15% margin, so you could say that BF is the turning point when it starts printing in black. |

You can pricematch BUT if it's a special deal that the price is only good from 5am to 11am Friday you have to do it in that time window. If the price is good all weekend you can pricewatch anytime during the weekend. I have done this the last few years without a problem unless they make some kind of ammendment to their pricematch policy. Also last year a friend of mine went to buy the laptop they had on sale last year the Wednesday before Black Friday and was told they were out of stock on it. He went to Best Buy dot com and he ordered the laptop and picked in store pickup and the store he was at 30 min ago suddenly had stock just something to think about. |

AFAIK, most stores close their CS dept and do not allow returns/exchanges, therefore no price adjustments. Also some stores use special sku's for their BF merchandise. So PM'ing is very YMMV. Tho others have reported being able to pm at Kmart, Sam's Club and Target. |

im seriously curious if you know what OLED TVs are, because it was almost *EXACTLY* how laser tvs are being presented now (just 2 years ago), and guess what, OLED TVs STILL ARENT OUT!!! |

RapaciousEbayer said:source (Twice.com) Twice is an extremely well-focused magazine for the CE (consumer electronics) business. I believe after reading their article this 30% price drop will be happening. Not as widespread as OP has stated (plasma TV prices are not going down as much), but still very exciting. BF will be just the beginning; in 2007 expect demand for HDTV to be very strong thanks to Xbox360 & PS3/BluRay devices. |

Which begs the question: Do we jump on BF deals or wait to purchase in 2007? LCD's usually drop about 20% 2 weeks prior to the superbowl, but the prices raise right after. |

if I find one with all the features and quality I want on BF (for a good price), i will buy it.
the problem is that every set i'm looking at is deficient in some manner.
the 42" Sharp Aquos LC-42D62U just doesn't have that great a panel (prob outsourced to Chi Mei) the 40" JVC LT-40FN9 does not accept 1080P input (it will force 1080i input and then convert internally to 1080P). this is a killer for me as it would be serving double duty as a secondary PC monitor. the JVC has great electronics though and according to reports, does very well with SD and lower strength signals. the 42" Syntax Olevia 742i is too new to tell what it's capable of. until user reports come in, who knows. also not sure about price. others just seem to expensive.
any other ideas for a 37-42" 1080P LCD with a good panel and good electronics that will accept PC input via HDMI or DVI and do 1:1 pixel mapping? |

I still dont see where anyone has actually confirmed this. All I see is links to articles estimating flat panel price drops. Can anyone actually confirm that these are actually bf best buy prices and not some prediction? |

I've been looking at the Samsung LNS4096D 40" 1080P model, waiting for a killer sale. Check out the specs at:

The best deal so far is Amazon at $2100.

I don't see anything confirmed , despite reading through this whole thread. One news source's speculation isn't enough at all. Analysis are nothing but guesses on where the market will go. "AMD would be stupid to buy ATI" And it happened anyways. There has been much more reliable news sources that have been wrong before. |

How does the HP 42" Plasma HDTV PL-4260 stack up to the Panasonic TH-42PX60U 42" Plasma HDTV? I'm watching for a great deal on the Panny, but if this HP stacks up, it would be a great deal. |
