jessegun23 said:great thread...would be great if you posted the resolution capabilities of each as well (720p, 1080i etc)

I may be wrong but I think almost all or all do 720p and 1080i. If it couldnt do those two then its pretty lame though there are or were some plasmas that were surprisingly low res EDTV when I looked a while ago. When I went recently all the plasmas at CC etc were much higher res. People now are talking about 1080p and whether its worth getting now.

I was looking in the paper today and saw CompUSA had the Syntax 37" (not the newest version) for I think $799 already so those prices above dont seem so hot. Im looking as Ive posted for a $499 (ha) 37" Syntax Olevia. If the new Syntax 37" doesnt hit at least as low as 699 Id consider that really pathetic. I would sit out this BF then. For some strange reason it seems like an anti-climax. Maybe im delusional but it seemed like a lot of info was leaked really early the last few years. This time its getting fairly close and theres some leaks but CompUSA and many other sites -- not much info and its the same old stuff. Of course I said the same thing and last year turned out to be pretty good so I guess we will see.

Yep, Rad, I was looking/hoping for the same this year. With the prices I'm seeing I guess I was dreaming lol. So far, I'll be staying home too. I'll just wait for the prices to drop in 2007. Now the question becomes when are they going to drop.

a super work!
thanks OP

32" Olevia at CC is OLV 232V
Target is selling 332H.
both are Olevia 32" LCD HDTV Monitor.

Can anyone tell the difference?

Edit: thanks martin628.

I had been searching the website, got 527V & 332H (i.e. 3 series/5 series). But couldn't find the HDTV LCD 232V (no 2 series on the website. must be out-of-date). Thanks for your link.

I would suggest the 527V should be best. It's $100 more at Target. $699. Don't forget 10% off code and FatCash.

Anyone want to offer up an expert (or semi-expert) opinion on which would be the best 32" LCD model/offer. Seems to me to be a reasonable price/point, given that in a couple of years, everything will again be half the price with double the features...

OP should update the post with Target offers...

Comparison

232V has audio out & TV tuner in, 332H doesn't

Sears is having that Sony Wega for $1800?!?!?! Insane. What kind of BF price is that? It is less than that now ($1599), and I just got it today for $1100 from Circuit City.

Maybe $499 is dreaming though Ive been surprised the last two BFs, at the last minute all sorts of weird deals popped up. Even the 26" for $499 seemed like a hard to get deal at the time but it turned out that virtually everyone jumped on the bandwagon CC, CompUSA, OD, Microcenter etc. And then CompUSA had those insane AOL deals and so did CC. Some people got the 26" HDTV for $350 with the 10% coupon and AOL deal at CC though they refused it when I tried. Any kind of deal for the 37" for $499 would have to be some weird combo like the AOL deal probably not a straight rebate deal. Another last minute super bizarre deal was the 15" LCD TV AOL deals where they sold them for 250 then later in the day to some they sold them for 150 then bizarrely late at night $75. No ad or nothing. Just off the cuff like that. CompUSA was actually great last year though bizarre.

However Ill be very surprised if the 37" doesnt get as low as $699 and thats not a bad price at all considering the lame prices mentioned in all the ads. So I wouldnt give up yet.

AgentFox said:Would a 10% Coupon from fleeBay work at CC on BF?

IF so that P50HDTV10A would be a nice @ 1499 - 10% =

CC was bizarre like CompUSA thats where the insane deals came from. I posted about using a similar TV coupon last year and wondered if they would allow the AOL deal they had ONLY for PCs to be applied to the TVs too like CompUSA let shoppers do.
CC was may more tight azzed bout it compared to CompUSA. They flat out refused and then suddenly late in the day they let a few people get away with the coupon and the AOL deal letting some people get the 26 inch for $350 or less. Its a real long shot especially this year since I dont think theyll have an AOL deal so its a real YMMV situation. If they let anyone get away with it itll only be a handful probably depending on the sales person. Who knows if theres enough whining about stinky prices in these threads they may read them and give some buyers a break.

Does anyone have any leads on the HH Gregg BF ad yet?

I'm curious what they'll be having, since they offer both the Westinghouse and Olevia brands.

You can get a Sharp 42" 1080p for $1999 at BB and CC now, and if you have 10% coupon, it will make it $1800

Maybe not blind, but I was premature... Heard the Target name mentioned a few times, but can't find it either, so don't know where those prices came from...

Edit: Target is now here

But don't see any Olevia Syntax on the list --
Just see the Magnavox 37-inch LCD HDTV $ 1097.00

martin628 - i meant to say "am i going blind?" - nothing against u mate ...

regards ur earlier question - i like the syntax olv 232v in the 32" range, but i need speakers in the bottom (fitting into a tight space) so i am hoping to get the 32" westy from BB ... the older westy was pretty well regarded, but not sure about this one ...

Thanks for your effort OP. Are all of these BF sales B&M or are some of these early birds typically on the web? Last year I arrived at BB only to find about 1,000 people with their teeth chattering in a line snaking around the entire parking lot. I was gunning for a Panasonic camcorder as were several people around me in line. As I feared I went into the store and all of the camcorders were already gone. I went over to RadioShack and on a lark I went to a PC that they had set up on display. It had an internet connection. I went to the BB website and found my camcorder at the same price as B&M. I whipped out my credit card and bought it right there in RadioShack. After realizing it was free shipping I was kicking myself in my frost bitten rear end.

Don't know if I will be so lucky this year as I am looking for the 51" Hitachi. I wonder if a B&M PM at Sears would fly...

alert mods

I've read in a few places that you dont really need 1080p unless you are buying a tv 50inches or larger...

but then again if thats the best picture quality and I'm dropping around 1-2K I want the best possible picture quality

According to this HD thread Home Depot will have the Element FLX-3202 32" LCH HDTV for $478.00, as a BF early special.

I put this in the HDTV thread and thought someone may appreciate it here also. This is the formula for comparison between height of HDTV sets and SDTV sets. This would give the diagonal size of the equivalent height of a regular set when watching the HD set in non-zoomed compatible mode.

The formula is:
diag-sdtv = sqrt(diag-hdtv^2 / 1.5)

So what this works out to is:

HDTV" equiv SDTV"
---- ----------
26 - 21
32 - 26
37 - 30
40 - 33
42 - 34
50 - 41

I'd also like to know this...

Any truth to the rumor that the Olevia 542i 42" LCD HDTV will be $1k at Micro Center on BF?
