Good luck finding a 12.1" to match these features for less than 1200.
12.1" Dual core 12.1" 100GB Sata 1gb ddr2 dual layer dvdrw 12.1" nVidia Geforce video 4 pounds etc etc etc A true "High End" laptop challenger for 599.
agree, the BEST is the Averatec at OM.

agree, the BEST is the Averatec at OM.
Is it me, or does this scan of the ad say "Windows Vista premium upgrade"? So then is OM offering to give the upgrade free by mail like Best Buy and other retailers? |

TY! rpalicherla said:lray said:If someone who knows could post screen resolutions and video devices that each notebook has in the Quick Summary area, thjat'd be great. WXGA looks great on a 12.1", but on a 17" is it is crappy.....ty!
from what i have seen, all the 12, 14 and 15.4 inch laptops have screen resolutions of 1280x800 ... the 17 inch ones are 1440x900 ...
integrated graphics on all the cheaper laptops ... i dont think there is so much difference between the integrated graphics chipsets that it will be a deal breaker ... Intel graphics might be crappier than ati or nvidia, but will do regular jobs without any problems .. none of these are meant for gaming/video intensive applications anyway... |

That $599 AR Turion 64 from CC looks pretty good, considering you get the extra memory and a bigger HD. 'Standard' requirements I won't have to pay to upgrade myself. |

rpalicherla said:.. none of these are meant for gaming/video intensive applications anyway... none of these are meant for gaming is what you should have said. Any integrated graphics can run video and (excluding 3D games) there is no such thing as a video intensive application. If you're not running 3D the video sub system will never drop refresh rates below 60hz. Never. |

It seems most laptops have low-end video cards. They are fine for 2d performance. When it comes to games such as half life2, they do not perform well.
Anyone know of any good deals on a 15" laptop with a dedicated video card? (not ram shared)
I will post any that I find.

It's that the whole laptop is also smaller and light weight. A 12" screen on laptop that is a big and heavy as 14.1" would be a bummer.
If you already have a desktop computer at home, get a ultra portable for the road.
The 12" Avertek would be a great GPS replacement for you car. And also a DVD player for you plane trip.

the best is nothing more than an opinion and nothing more, some people need 500 gig hdd and anything less is crap, some need a a quad core processor most dont, you left out any and everything we HAVE to have to give an answer, what do you do with it, what do you want it to do, what are must haves, is battery life more important that a 19 inch LCD? you have to do work too not just let the answer fall into your lap, if you don't your just going to be full of buyers remorse. and for the record its not the best items that get put on sale, those items sell themselves, sales happen on items that dont tend to sell as good or be as good, just because its 400 bucks off doesn't mean its a good deal people. |

So far, what is the best deal and what are the options between now and bf as an option? A little extra $ will pay for the aggravation and the uncertainty....not to mention the losing sleep over anxiety.....is this fun or what? |

I am looking at the 15 inch laptops this year. the Gateway MX6454 from BB looks good but there is no information about it. its not on BB site or gateways site. there is a MX6453 that is almost the same. any one have more info on this one? I need a pretty high end 15 inch laptop. I also can't find what wi-fi card it has. |
