Ok here''s the update. After talking to around 8 CSR's, here is what I picked up 1) No deal on getting a free phone to "persuade" me to stay. I tried using different stories from losing my dash on a fishing trip and going back to an old 8890 (which i really still have) to breaking the screen blah blah. You get creative. I was however eligible to get "super discounted" deals on a few phones so that I can stay. They offered me these phones t509s -50 t310- 50 c195s- 50 razr v3- 80 6103 - 80
2) I'm going to try again a few more times before i call it quits. I'm sure it';s possible. I just have to find the right CSR to give me a free phone. Oh yeah, if you do stay with tmobile and get another phone, your contract on the dash is automatically cancelled and a new contract is made without the ETF. Might as well take advantage of that small benefit. I was wondering if i could combine this with a phone with rebates.... but the rebate specifically say it has to be 11 months after getting a new phone.... DRAT
all of the prices i quoted are for 1 year plans. If you go for 2 years most of these would be free since these are the bottom og the ladder phones. I have not been able to call tmobile as of yet since i am out of the countryt. Ill try next week when i come back. until then somebody should try at least for the community |

That is because they charge a bunch for tax. My T-Mobile plan is $65.00 and each month after tax it is closer to $87. Man i want out of T-Mobile the service is just not there anymore. Any one else having problems that they did not have 3 years ago. It is CRAZY!! I have a family plan of $69.99 I pay over $100 a month!! No texts etc.. We barely even use the minutes!! But that was cheaper then two seperate plans. What really stinks is I have my daughter on the 50 minute plan for 24.99, and I can't pay the bills together, they can't link them. The only good thing about the 50 minute plan is that they shut her off after 50 minutes but she can call any T-Mobile customer, ie ME, for free , so she can't use the excuse that she ran out of minutes aymore. But the prices are crazy!! |

Simple to call and cancel. Just ask for Doug (CS Rep) and site the terms of the contract.
Best.

Logically speaking.. Does an increase in messaging rates adversely affect you? You have unlimited text so even if they raised it to $5/msg, you are still unaffected. |

Hey everyone, I was on the verge of paying the cancellation fee not once but twice because I have two phones...$400. So I came accross this site and I'm glad I did.
I didn't think it'd work but it did, I called tmobile and said politely "Hi, is it true that tmobile is raising its fees on text messages as of June 1st?" and she replied with a "yes" then i explained that I was unhappy with this change and wanted out of it. My first phone has no text so that was an easy out but my second phone had the $4.99 plan (i think) for text, and I continued to tell her that I wanted out so she kindly read carefully the terms which also state that tmobile can waive the fee if I went over my text message plan which I did. So she went ahead and cancelled that as well. waiving my $400 fee. I didn't even have to wait till June 1st.
Good luck guys...it works! |

I have a 4-line fam plan expiring this Dec. Both CSR's I spoke to confirmed I could cancel without ETF after doing some research (or pretending to as I'm sure I wasn't the first one to call). The problem is Tmobile service works out the best for me (for being a Navy employee 1-yr contract and 12% monthly discount). I asked for new phones without extending the contract (or extending another year) or switch to month to month plan but the CSR refused. She even refused to xfer me to Customer Retention as I have less than 10 mos under the contract. I know that's all BS. Has anyone tried? |

Quoted RIZR Z3 for $79.99 (2yrs extension) couple days ago when the price was still $149.99 at their website. Today, the price on the phone is $99.99 on the website and stupid CSR gave me $149.99. I said look in the note there, I was quoted $79.99. He locked the price for me for another 3 days but that's the best deal so far I can get.
Is it pretty good price for RIZR? |

I had that happen to me when I cancelled. Just call and ask them to credit the ETF fee. If you made sure that there was a note on your account that you won't pay ETF you should be ok. |

Just to confirm, this is still live. I got a postcard announcing the rate hike on Txt Messages last week, called tonight, and after initial, "no" response from CSR, reiterated that it constituted a material change. 2 minutes on hold and CRS OKed cancelation, and set it to take effect last possible day (10 May for me), AND waived ETF!. Cool. LOVE T MO customer service -- BUT TERRIBLE SIGNAL, dropped calls, missed calls, etc. Oh well, back to shite-gular. |

I finally did it. Opened a new 4-line family plan; then cancelled the existing famaily one after confirming no ETF; & then requested for old numbers back. The old # restoration went way better than expected, much smoother than a few mos ago when I tried to swap numbers between 2 active accounts prior to cancelling one out of fear of losing the numbers to others. |

I called up T-Mobile today and explained to them about the new "terms & conditions" that were sent with my previous billing statement. Intially the CSR said that she can sign me up for a messaging plan and I refused and ask her about cancellation. After doing some research found out that I was eligible for ETF waiver and I have put that as a note on my acct.
I am all set for the launch of iPhone next month and will wait and see if I decide to go for that. |

I have a BB 8700g account, no txt plan, and have sent a few text msgs ... I called and the CSM cancelled with no problems.
The CSM also said that I shouldn't have any problems signing up as a "new customer" with T-Mobile once this line is cancelled as long as I'm willing to change my mobile number...
Now ... to sign up for the Dash Deal at Amazon.
Has anyone tried this particular trick? Does Amazon give you any trouble about the old account? Anyone have advice on whether I should sign up for the new acct before or after the old one is deactivated? (they're keeping it on until the 15th)
Good deal, though ... no problem at all about the ETF. AK |

I am first time posting so please help
I called Tmobile on Monday May 7th, 2007 to cancel my Tmobile contract plan for hiking the text messaging prices, they said last day was on Friday May 4th, 2007. Is that True for the last day?
Any other way I can cancel my plan without paying cancellation fees of $200? |
