Still working for me, am in FL...

Though i already filed a dispute with AMEX and was credited the full amount:

For AMEX card holders, Do this:

- Call the number on the back of the card
- wait to talk to a representative (may be in the menu or just press zero)
- Tell the rep that you want to file a dispute (of course its much better if you got a new sunrocket account within the past 1 yr)
- File a dispute under lack of service / dissatisfied service
- AMEX will refund you the $$ immediately (but thats a courtesy)
- AMEX will do the investigation from their end to determine if Sunrocket ceased to exist

For AMEX Card holders who ignorantly used their MasterCard, do this:

- call the # on back of card.
- get referred to 1-866-266-0212 (8am-9pm Eastern)
- fill out paperwork that's going to require you to send part of a previous bill
- wait 30 days for them to decide IF you get a credit
- WISH you used your AMEX.

Still working fine in Portland Oregon now.

Procrastination finally pays off for me! LOL

11.00pm in So. Cal. and the SR still working both ways both numbers. I don't understand the significance of blinking red light. Is it supposed to be steady?

My guess is that the service will continue to work until some one buys the rights to own SR.

If not, I am curious, if I call overseas and keep talking all night, who would send me the bill? will it be free? May be I can use up part of my $200 that way.

good luck with that. sunrocket resold the services of others--those others aren't going to keep providing dialtone if they don't get paid.

I'm not a Sunrocket customer, but I've heard it's just about impossible to port a number that you got from a VOIP company elsewhere, since you're not really the owner of record. And if you ported a number to Sunrocket from elsewhere, and they went out of business on you, you might also have problems porting it elsewhere, since the company is no longer there to release the number.

Hmm that I am sure of is incorrect info.

I ported my number from Verizon to Packet8 (VOIP) and then from Packet8 over to SunRocket (VOIP) just fine.

Try Broadvoice. Cheap prices and works great for me.

Sunrocket still works fine for me. I just called AMEX using my SR line to file a dispute and all things went well. They rep said she already filed the same dispute for 3 other cardholders since starting her shift. Interesting...

Me too! I just called AMEX and they gave me the same bull about not taking disputes after the initial 60 days; even after I mentioned that I was still within the one yr timeframe. Wonder whether AMEX disputes that've gone through will actually be accepted after the investigation. Kudos that AMEX service has gone down!

I called AMEX 6 times, I get a different answer every time.

Im swithcing my costco AMEX to something else., AMEX stinks these days.

I finally spoke with someone who knew SR is bankrupt, and she "supposdely" set up the account in the right way.

Keep calling AMEX, and speak to the managers, till you get one that has a clue.

SR is working fine now. 9:40 ET, Brooklyn NY 11229. Was out last night, and only outgoing calls earlier. Forwarding works.

Anybody know how to shut down the voicemail? I've still got service, but I want my voicemail turned off.

Apparently, you guys aren't familiar with the Fair Credit Billing Act. I'd suggest reading it. It clearly states 60 days is the limit for disputes. I searched AMEX sites and they say the same, so I'd like to see where AMEX says they will validate a dispute over 60 days.

It is very rare to do so these days, because of businesses simply going out of business so quickly. You have to be smart when you purchase "packages" which are paid for an entire year or more. NEVER do that. It's insane. You pay by the month these days. Never pay more than a few months. There is absolutely no guarantee a business will still be in business tomorrow. This is Capitalism. Not Socialism, where everything is guaranteed by the government. In a Free Market system, you're screwed and you have to watch out for yourself. When I saw SunRocket creating 1-year packages to be paid for upfront, I was very skeptical. Because it was a lottery. Eventually, they would go out of business, and I knew it was a crap shoot as to when that 1-year package would be worthless.

Whether or not AMEX decides to credit people over the 60 days is going to be rather difficult. I'm sure they will satisfy some customers who are "valued" but for the occasional user, I wouldn't expect much.

alert mods

now the question is what are the current SR customers are going to do.

being one of them, ive signed up for a 2yr (1yr free plan) and it's not even 9 months since i got it. now the company went belly up and alot of us are screwed. CC won't fight for your $ because, SR won't give it back to you either. Is there any info in the T&S that if they go out of biz, the customers are protected? Also what are you guys switching to?

alert mods

I can not believe that SR did this to us.

Yes, 60 days is it. Last year I tried to chargeback a company that never sent merchandise I ordered (kept saying it was coming, resending, etc) and it went beyond that time. No luck.

With SR this time I'm in luck. My contract was set to renew in 3 weeks. Whew!
