for which was paid for in advance.. no problem

To reverse the charge there has to be someone at the other end to pay the money back to the CC company. If they are gone of business, the CC company is not likely to eat the charge. You authorized it, it is not like they stole your card number and used it to by porn or something.

claim it to be fraud. CC companies do eat charges in certain circumstances.

Dwynne said:The deal they (V1atalk) had up a few minutes ago - BOGOF was a better deal for most folks.

I asked them about this - why it was pulled just when folks were getting alarmed about SR.

What they said: "We reached our quota for that promotion".

What they really meant: "Our major competitor just shut down, so we are expecting droves of folks switching to us. Why on earth would we offer you a good deal now when we can get these folks to swtich to use for less attractive deals?"

I use Callvantage from AT&T and I am quite happy with them.

Linky!

I also have CallVantage and the service has been great. Been with them for over a year.

No wonder they went under- it is hard to sustain a business model when you require all employees to be named "Brooke."

Planning to switch to ViaTalk.Does anybody have a coupon to waive shipping/activation?Please post, god bless!
Only 3 months free now at VT,darn!

The chat is from VT, not SR. It's either a generic chat app, in which all usernames are "Brooke" or there is only one person doing chat support

My phone number still works and I can login to my account page....my yearly contract expiring this month...should I cancel switch??? If SR goes down I think I will switch to Skype.

Looks like we r gonna loose our money and won't be able to use full 2 yr of service.

Can we do anything? As of today afternoon I was able to make/receive calls and able to login to my account.

Anyway we can recover our money from SR?

If you signed up this year you helped cover my service from last year like the typical pyrimid scheme.
If you talked your mother-in-law into signing up this year you are in a heap of trouble.
You can't do anything till someone buys them out unless you recently signed up for service.
Mine still works great...It doesn't take a whole lot to keep the servers up and running with no cost of personnel....till the system starts going downhill with all the requests for porting, forwarding etc.

everything pulled from wiki-pedia. If you go to history, everything there says (UNDO).
However check out linkyfor some recent news on layoffs and restructures.
It's wierd that everyone's phone is still working, you can't sign-up for new service, you can't port your number and all the other wierd stuff.

Assume that they are going out of business but there will be a new provider picking them up. Expect the structure to change and that you may be losing some service (maybe extra year for free or the $3.00 international calling credit or the call forwarding or the free extra line...) but the customer base is too valuable for investors to just abandon.

I didn't know this, but their technology infringes on Verizon's patents like Vonage. The real question is why is Vonage still in business and SR can't figure it out? There's gotta be a solution here.

Edit:
My phone no longer works

shahhere said:Another helpful information is that since the website is still active please save your phone bills and account information pages and what not so that you can use those when you submit request for number porting.

Shahhere

For me their invoices don't even show my phone numbers, seem pretty useless, just an ionvoice number and a charge of $0.

Hello McFly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was quoting to correct that they are talking to VTalk. SR went "under" not VT.

The second part was humor (notice the )

SR charged me for the next year on July 3rd. I just called my CC company to dispute the charge. I guess there should be no problem.

Does any one know that the SR gizmo can be used with BYOD service of ViaTalk with admin password from here? That saves $29.95 of activation.

I think you pay the Activation no matter what on VT (i know it sucks).

I tried ViaTalk last week because my old SR account promo expired.

I used a PAP2 and was not charged activation for BYOD. However the quality for me was worse. Echoing complaints on the other end and faxing and replay were non-existent dispite trying everything recommended.

I figured I would stay with SR so I cancelled my ViaTalk a few days later.

With all the problems ... might try going back to Pots or waiting for another deal.

Actually if you click on "Looking To Purchase A BYOD Package? Click Here" on their sign up page (second page I think), Activation becomes "Free"

There is a huge thread at dslreports on this and some former employees are participating too.
