It's getting longer and longer, so i think we should not copy and paste the emails that SR sent to you and the conversation between you and other VOIP'csr. |

Just got my Quantumvoice activated today. They didn't send me all the info in my welcome letter to be able to set it up myself. So I called customer service and he instructed me to their website to download a little app (basically pc anywhere) and he remoted into my computer. Wasn't too excited about that, being a little tech savy, if they would have given me the info I could have done it myself, not a whole lot to do. Took about 20 minutes to set it up, with reboots, etc. Did this using my AC-211. My number hasn't been ported yet so they set me up with a temporary #. How cool is that? Plus, logged in to SR website and have the calls forwarding to my temp #. All this for $12.95/mo and no setup fee. For those wondering, the remote software is deleted off my system. Call quality has been great so far. |

Guess my luck is running out with SR. Several of the calls were disconnected this afternoon. Now, still have dial tone but there is only dead silence after dialing number. |

I want to go with net2phone, but am confused how to sign up as a former Sunrocket customer..? On their site, you just go to sign up because when I clicked on the Sunrocket page that they provided as to what the costs would be there was no place to sign up on that page. So then, I went to the regular sign up page and it just went through a normal sign up.. is this what is supposed to happen? I didn't actually do it because it was saying that I was paying the $19.99 a month plan..so I just backed out...any one know? Thanks in advance... |

19.99 IS the Sunrocket plan. Their normal rate was higher than that. You get the first three months free then are billed 19.99 per month after that. If you provide proof that you still have time left to your SR service, you get a credit back (download the rebate form on their site). I signed up a few days ago after my SR went down last weekend. Service came right back up after flashing my Gizmo. Works fine for outgoing. Incoming still not working (have to wait for my phone number to port over). |

I went with the free equipment deal, I have it here, tested it yesterday and the quality is far superior to what I'm used to with SR. Waiting on my number port to use the service and dump the final days of SR, don't want to bother with a temp number. I just love how the monthly fee includes all taxes, fees, etc. No surprises (fingers crossed). |

With the Net2Phone rebate are they considering time left in the SECOND year of a buy one get 2nd year free offer, or only the time left on your first year? I'm considering this option for my second line (first line I went with ViaTalk, but am begining to regret the waiting time!), and a second account for my son's SR service. Anyone know if there's a problem getting the SR buyout deal for the same customer but with TWO different addresses and phone numbers? Currently all three numbers were switched to TB just so I wouldn't lose the numbers, but I don't want to stay with them. TIA! |

I received a letter from AMEX today, saying they have opened the investigation, but they did not get me (temporary) credit until a resolution. I do not think this is normal, since AMEX normally gives me a temporary credit when they open an dispute for me. AMEX gave me credit for both of my SunRocket lines (about $430). They said within 4 weeks I'll receive a letter, and within 6-8 weeks the credit would be final assuming all goes well. I put enough on my AMEX every year that they tend to pay attention to me, perhaps a little more than their average customer (at least I feel that way every time I've had to call them for service or disputes). |

orangeeater said:I have been reading this forum for days and have figured it all out. ViaTalk sound sleazy based on their changing contracts. Teleblend I wouldnt touch for 5 dollars a month... Packet8 isnt cheap... ATT and others may be more trustworthy but no huge bargain. Forget ATT for 25 bucks a month, another shady VOIP, or other options.. this is the cheapest and best (if you're willing to deal with downside listed below)
I am convinced the best option for any FWer looking for a deal is to get a Grandcentral Account and Gizmo Project Account...
For those who don't know, Grandcentral (recently acquired by Google) forwards phone calls to any number. It also has voicemail that can tesct you, email, etc and many other features
Gizmo Project is like Skype.. you get an internet phone number.
The end result of this combo is you can get free incoming calls... and cheap outgoing calls (free now). By far this is one of the cheapest options, probably more stable than most, and you can be up and running TODAY
You have two options for incoming calls.. you can pay for a phone number from Gizmo Project ($30 per year for incoming calls.. incoming calls link ..apparently you can get assigned an international number if you want! or Grandcentral assigns you a local number that you can use to then forward your calls to your Gizmo account/home phone
outgoing calls are 1.9 cents a minute if you dial from your home phone directly (prepaid through gizmo project) or free if you let grandcentral connect through their website (click to call).
Here is my summary of how to do it... I have limited tech knowledge but was able to figure things out,,
WIZARD ON SETTING THIS UP... I learned most of the tips here and 3 hours of surfing let me complete the process to perfection:
1) Unlock your router I had a SPA2102...link
2) sign up for a Gizmo Project account gizmo project
3) sign up for Grand Central (you need an invite to join.. NO I DON'T HAVE ANY TO SHARE !!) grandcentral
4)To configure your router with gizmo project, first unlock it and then use this handy website (have to register) link.. this is the link to the 2102 but it has wizards for many routers besides the SPA2102.. this website explains what to put in the wizard
5) On Grandcentral, enter your Gizmo as a number gc link
Only down side is no e911 support cant use preexisting number (I think) Grandcentral will start to charge for outgoing calls someday
As an aside, I think people are insane for using Teleblend. If it benefits Sunrocket in anyway or the slimeballs who funded Sunrocket, no thanks plus again who knows maybe it does negate refund/class action options.... Thanks for this, I was not an SR customer but if I were to buy the router from eBay would the process above work if I unlocked it myself? |

Hi, Has anyone ported BOTH of their SR numbers to Net2Phone at the special rate (3 months free + remainder of SR contract free)? Is it simply 2 times the startup tax (~$3 in CA, $1.06 in NY when you BYOD - like Innomedia Gizmo)? Thanks |
