Got the stainless steel floor model for $89.10 plus tax. They gave me 10% off the sale price because they only had the demo. This is pretty much the availability I'm finding in my area of Orange County...lots of black machines but only 1 demo stainless steel model. |

It is a great espresso maker - using this machine with coffee grinder for 12 years - still makes my favorite espresso - if I can get it for $99 - it's a very hot deal for very hot espresso maker! Good luck!!! |

There were none left at any of the 3 Starbucks in town. One of them was holding one for someone else (probably an employee ), but a manager at another store found a display model at another store about 60 miles away and is arranging to have it shipped here. She also mentioned about taking 10%-15% off due to being a display model |

Thank op!! I've been looking for a great espresso maker deal for a while and I think this is the one. Got a new stainless one at a Starbucks located in a bank - didn't event think they carried coffee makers at that type of store. There was an orange sticker on the box that said $99.99, but it rang up at $199.99. She checked some list and said yes, it's supposed to be $99 and entered a $100 discount. So, maybe these types of locations inside other businesses are more likely to have coffee makers left. (I don't think the Starbucks in Target or Barnes and Noble have coffee makers.) I called several stores earlier and some of them had demo units for sale One said they would take another 10% off for the demo. One store said they would order a new one for me at the $99 price. Don't know if she could really do this as I didn't need to try since I found one at another store. But maybe some of you should try asking your store if they can order one (maybe they try to get from another store?). This is my first real espresso machine. I thought I was missing a tamper, but somewhere I see that because of something about it being pressurized, you don't need to tamp. On the instructional video it says to use 7 grams of coffee per ounce of water. So I used 14 grams, and it almost looked like it was too much coffee to screw the Rapporto filter in. I did tamp it a little. Just made my first double shot latte. I'm happy, and sure I'll get better with practice. I have to work at getting more foam. How many seconds for a 2 ounce shot on this? Does a double take twice as long as a single? So now need to look for deal on a better grinder. I guess I should also should get thermometer, a marked shot glass, ... |

Deal confirmed! Got mine today in Austin, TX. I broke cardinal rule and called to reserve one, but since it's early in the game, you should be able to get one before all the employees buy them up. I called them yesterday, put one on hold and the manager was nice enough to let me buy it TODAY for $99!! |

My Starbuks wouldn't let me buy it today - but was kind enough to put one on hold until tomorrow. To answer previous post - Starbucks opens at 5am. WOW!!! Don't like Starbucks coffee - Barista is a very good espresso maker!!! |

@ dilbert Ignore the manual, and make your shot 25-30 seconds, and you want approx. 2oz, and only minimal 'blonding' on the final few seconds of the shot. Only way to dial in this type of shot is with a grinder, since tamping is not an option, although I'm thinking of hacking my portafilter even on my first day! |

Anyone care to offer the difference between the stainless steel vs the dark grey finish? Is one supposed to be more reliable than another? My local store in NC had only a demo stainless steel, and two with the dark grey finish, which I picked one up.. Had my first macchiato today (2x shot). I didn't know you had to press the button again to stop the drip (espresso newbie here) LOL! |

i just got back from visiting 3 starbucks. one didn't have it, one had one but just sold it, and one store was closed but i could see through the window that they have at least one display model. one of the stores i visited had a sale sign with 4 machines listed. sorry, but i didn't have time to take notes. none of the the coffee grinders were on sale. i just got back last week from the big island and brought back 8 lbs of bay view farm kona beans for myself and for gifts. i have a jura capresso e8, but this expresso maker will make better espresso. i'll be up early tomorrow to try to get at least one of the barista espresso makers. |
