djspray said:Devyan1 said:HokieOkie said:Was it $450? they said it was getting drastically reduced tommorrow but they couldn't give me an exact price that it was going to be To confirm, yes it is $450. That is a steal, but a decent semi-auto for $99 is way more up my alley.
EDIT: Talking about the Delonghi Super-Automatic. Delonghi rang up at $699 in one of my local stores this morning. They were out of the Barista model in both of my local store. This was one of those deals where I was going to get it ($99 model) if it was readily available at my local stores. I am not going to run around town and try to find one since it is not. I drink coffee at home and espresso at work. I was just going to get a spare espresso maker for use at home if it worked out. It didn't but that's fine. Great post OP and congrats on all that got in on the deal(s). WDEagle |

I found a Delonghi last night. Demo model though. I didnt buy it, the manager was gone for the day and no one could sell it to me if it didnt ring up at 449. Although they had the sheet showing the price drop today. I might go back to day... but as happy as people are with the Barista, I'm thinking of just getting one of those. They had plenty around town. My stove top machine was interesting, but after renovating our kitchen with very nice materials, stove top accidents arent worth it. I managed to get good espresso from it. Just potentially messy and slow. |

bulebook said:How do you get the free pound of bean? Just by asking for when you bought the machine?
Thanks. Wow, your first post in 4 years of being here. Welcome! Look what espresso and good espresso machine deals is doing to people ! Dkong, you are moving mountains here with this thread! When you are ready to pay, if nobody offered the free pound of coffee to you, like it was in my case, then you say: I heard that I should get a free pound of coffee with this purchase, or is there any other promotion if I buy this machine, or something like that. And then they'll remember the promotion and they'll give the coffee to you free of charge. You can choose any of their beans, I've chosen the espresso, because I'm not familiar with any of their varietes. |

Not on sale in Detroit, MI. Checked 3 stores, none of the store managers would budge on the $199 sale price. |

re: frothing...as I mentioned to dkong earlier in the thread, my technique hasn't failed me, but took a trial and error to learn: "@dkong WRT to that old thread, throw away that silly frother, and learn to use the Aroma. Pull yer shots first. Allow the boiler to cycle and shut off. 'Fart' extraneous water from the wand into a waiting cup until only dry stream escapes, then bury that wand smack in the middle of your pitcher of COLD whole milk and crank that mofo up high. As much action as you can muster until the swirl is regular and consistent, then slowly lower the pitcher until you get some air (SWOOSH!), then back up just a little so tip stays just under the surface. Foam/microfoam will form as if by magic. Gently lower pitcher as your foam grows, heat up to the red mark on your thermometer, then kill it. Simple as that! edit: added 'until dry steam escapes', and of course best results will occur in a stainless frothing pitcher...I ALWAYS use a thermometer, as steaming milk proteins is as delicate as espresso extraction, with 'stretching' (volumizing) occurring as specific temps, and microfoam soon following. Failure to stop this process at 160F causes protein breakdown and milk loses it's sweetness, regardless of microfoam production beyond those temps. |

Picked one up this morning in Flower Mound, TX. No free coffee, though. I called several stores in the area last night and they were all aware of the deal but wouldn't budge on selling it early. |

I hope this doesn't sound too incredibly ignorant, but can you use something like this to make their Cafe Mocha? If so, I'm in! Thanks for not flaming. |

My wife and I prefer a double, 4oz of steamed milk, an once or so of chocolate syrup (dark or semi-sweet is best), and fresh whipped cream (a fatwallet deal some years ago on Easywhip dispensers and chargers). I shave some semi-sweet block chocolate with a microplane over the top when guests come over. |

Gorby911 said:Ok, I had this machine since last night and I made some espresso yesterday and this morning. I am not an expert in cofee but I loved the taste!! However, I am not sure what I am doing wrong but I can not get milk to foam at all. I tried following directions in the manual to the "T" but still getting nothing. Milk just spins in the container with no foam at all. I suspect it is the "user error" rather then defective machine... I'll keep trying. Any tips from the experts?
Forgot to add: I have no VCRs in my house anymore (anyone still using those??) so I could not watch the tape. It would probably provide more clues on my milk problem... bummer.
Oh yea, did I mention I love the shots!!
Cheers. Mine has a DVD. But don't worry, I don't think the DVD helps that much when it comes to frothing. I'm having the same problem with not getting foam, will have to practice more after work. I guess I could copy the DVD and put the file somewhere for you. Uh... how do I do that, haven't done it in a while. |

went back and got one. was offered the pound of coffee or 12 pods. Only the manager knew how to ring up the free coffee, but it's included. they were *extremely* helpful.. I was amazed how helpful everyone was. I got stainless w/DVD disc. There are plenty left in the Little Rock area. Not surprising, its sweltering here, nobody wants coffee. Anyway, there is a demo model Magnifica @ 449 still sitting there. PM if you need info. |

spain1110 said:Was the original price of the stainless the same as the graphite? Is there any difference other than color? Thanks The stainless steel was originally $50 more than the graphite but they are the exact same machines inside. The manager at the store I was at told me it was 1/2 pound of free coffee beans and I also got no DVD or VHS tape. She really wanted me to buy the accessory kit or a grinder but I'm going to wait until I can get a deal on those too. |
