My impression is that most stores still have at least a few. My employee friend said they had quite a few(>10) at her store still and my nearby location just said they have 5-6. I'm having my friend check with her manager on pricing today. The local store I call here didn't know anything about further discounts. I'm waiting anxiously to pull the trigger. |

The guy who gave me the tip doesn't want to reserve it for me because he has only 1 left. 2 other stores did reserve it (I'm reserving at multiple locations just to be safe), but they don't know about the further reduction. I hope it goes OK. |

Dang, that's an incredible deal. I just paid $200 and felt good about that! I think if I had waited for $99 and then none were left I'd be upset for not spending what I did now. But good luck to you guys in a couple of days. |

I now have a Stainless Steel one reserved until lunch time tomorrow at my local SB. I didn't dare ask about the price reduction. I'll just show up, play dumb, and start asking questions if it isn't $99. |

It's been confirmed at 3 stores now, so imagine it is chain-wide. If you want to reserve one, I wouldn't recommend mentioning the price drop. If managers haven't filled in their employees yet, they are liable to buy them up tomorrow morning. |

I went with the Gaggia MDF @ Target.com. It's $200, 10% off code TGTENTZY, and 6% back through ThankYou Network(or 4.4% FC). It was free shipping when I ordered, but that is gone right now. |

You are correct in what great espresso/cappuccino will take (maybe you can do it for a few hundred less than that) but, at $99, the Barista is an incredible deal. The Barista is a great starter machine, that is built solidly and will last years. Plus Starbucks does stand behind their products. If you want to get rid of the pressurized portafilter, just buy a replacement from SaecoUSA for about $30. (if you do that, be warned, you'll need to be using better beans, ground freshly and correctly... you can tell the difference). I don't need it, but I may not be able to resist. May be a nice gift, or an extra (don't ask me for what) |

You are correct that burr grinders are better, but for espresso (even with the Barista machine) they cannot grind fine enough.
You will get better coffee when it's freshly ground, but only if it's properly ground. For espresso/capp. you'll need a more expensive grinder. Even blade grinders will do the trick for drip, once you've gotten the hand of the correct time required. In fact some would say that blade grinders are better for drip, precisely because they grind less consistently. |

As an espresso coffee addict myself, I find the $19.99 6-cup Bialetti stove-top espresso maker from Amaz0n to be excellent for all occasions. Also, historically this is the most famous espresso maker. Geez guys, why'd you give him red. He's absolutely correct, a stove top espresso maker will make much better than a typical espresso maker unless you get into the machines that are in the $1k range. I roast all my own beans and make all my espresso stove top. Another good way to make espresso is with one of those vietnamese style espresso makers. |

I had never heard of this before you mentioned it. However, I see plenty of references to Vietnamese style coffee makers but little to none for espresso makers. |
