I got the same email...$14.99 going to $16.99.

I just don't know if I can justify leaving for NF, though. We live about 2 miles from a B&M Store and fully use the 3 in-store exchanges per month. So, for the $3 more than I'd pay for the same 2 movies by mail using NF, I get 3 in store rentals a month.

I've had both services, and both take about the same time to get movies to us. And since my son has pre-school on Tuesday, my wife can stop by BB on her way home and exchange a movie for a new release. I think that's worth the $3/month.

Am I missing something?

It really varies on your situation I guess. I cancelled a few months back when they raised their rates and limited the in-store exchanges. The store isn't far from me, but it turned into a real chore to go into the store and find a movie worth renting. I literally hated scanning the aisles looking for anything I was willing to watch.

Plus, I'd been with them for almost a year and had watched a ton of movies in that time and nowdays have much less time to watch movies, so it wasn't worth it anymore. I switched to NetFlix 1-at a time, unlimited for $9.99 a month and got $28 FC for signing up, making my first 3 months free.

But if you actually rent and watch a lot of movies and are able to utilize all of you BB exchanges and the store still has plenty of movies you want to watch, then it may be worth it to you.

I do think it's pretty lousy that BB has now twice raised their rates in the matter of a few months. I try to shoot for a per DVD average of $1-$1.50 which I can do with NF (especially when you get your first 3 months free with FC!), can't do that anymore with BB...

Got my $2.00 increase email today also. The thing is I was already planning on dropping them for NF later this month so this just confirms my decision. It takes months to get a HD-DVD from Blockbuster (even though they still support them on-line). I signed up for NF late last month and already gotten many HD-DVDs sent.

Don't even think I'll miss the instore exchange since there have been many time that I went to the store and couldn't find anything I wanted but, since I was there, had to force myself to rent something.

BLOCKBUSTER Total Access Premium $17.99 / month (plus taxes)
3 at-a-time, unlimited mailings
unlimited in-store movie exchanges
+1 FREE bonus Movie or Game Rental E-Coupon / Month

That sounds like the 3 at a time with 5 exchanges plan. I'm paying $24.99 for 3 at-a-time with unlimited exchanges. Was that a mistake, or am I just getting screwed more than I thought?

My email said:
"To continue to bring you the unmatched convenience of both online and in-store DVD rentals, your monthly subscription fee will change from $24.99 to $34.99. This adjustment† will go into effect on your next billing cycle on or after December 27, 2007. The benefits of your subscription plan will remain the same."

I've been a customer for 5 months, and this is already the second time they've increased the price on me. I haven't decided if I'm switching to NetFlix yet, but I'm certainly not sticking with Blockbuster.

same here...... its not worth $35 a month more so when there hasnt been any good movies out. screw blockbuster. (even though the people at my local one are very nice to me)
