11/13 evening update: Online rebate submission now working
Sears rebate site

Mail in rebate form can be found here
The dates are clearly wrong, but this is the same form that was being handed out in the store.

---------------
While the original discussion of this topic started in the Sharp Aquos 46" thread, it really has very little to do with the original deal in that thread. I believe a new thread, however, is warranted for many reasons. First, it would be easy to assume (incorrectly) that everything in the other thread involved price matching (and the YMMV nature of that). Second,I really hadn't intended to hijack that thread in the first place, although I'm afraid I did. Third, much of the information in that thread was spread out over several posts buried deep in the thread, hence consolidation could be useful. Here are the Highlights of what's going on.

Sears is running a Friends and Family/V.I.P. night on November 11 from 6-9pm. The link to the main flyer for that can be found here. There are a couple quotes of particular interest in that flyer.

"You'll find some of our most incredible prices and offers usually only available in the days after Thanksgiving. On top of that you will save an additional 10% on almost everything we sell."

"10% off almost everything including our Friday & Saturday after Thanksgiving sale prices. Some exclusions apply including the Friday early-opening special items"

People who have participated in this deal in the past indicate the early-opening special items will still be available, but at the "After noon" price listed in the BF ad. Because these prices should already be in effect at the store, price matching should not be necessary.

Now Sears is offering other promotions as well.
-The Sears Ultimate Football Challenge (as of 11/10, you could see this advertisement here).Instant Cash Back for using a Sears card: $50 for HDTVs under 40", $150 for HDTVs 40"-49", and $250 for HDTVs 50" and up. This deal expires on 11/17, so it should be in effect for the VIP sale, but not BF.
-There will be a 10% MIR promotion when using a Sears card as well. This is clearly indicated in both the employee flyer (found here) and the actual F&F ad (currently unlinkable because the image is being hosted at SD).
-Sears is offering double reward points on purchases that night, so there may be additional benefits as well, but I won't include those in the price list.

A Sears employee I talked with yesterday says Sears is advertising this as "better than Black Friday" and the evidence seems to support that (at least in relation to Sears' BF ad).

These are currently the main outstanding questions:
-What models will be included in this promotion? Specifically, are doorbusters included (even if at the "after noon" price)?
-Will TVs not currently stocked by Sears still be available on 11/11? One example of this is the Samsung 50" plasma. Sears currently carries the HP-T5054, but the BF ad lists the HP-T5044 and the VIP ad scan lists the HP-T5044X.
-Will there be other "exclusions"?
-Will the extra 10% mail in rebate be stackable? Currently the 10% mail in rebate says "Cannot be combined with any other offer," but FWers know that is often open to interpretation.
-If the Sears card IR and MIR are NOT stackable, will we have the option of choosing which we want?

Obviously, there is some uncertainty here with exactly how Sears is going to handle things, but there could possibly be some very hot deals buried in this very interesting and unique sale. Hence the reason that I, from the beginning, labeled this thread "Possibly HOT"

Thanks to jmoney48 and rastascott for the info each provided.

Now for the TVs....
YOU MUST HAVE A Sears CARD TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE FOOTBALL PROMO (DENOTED IR) OR THE 10% MAIL IN REBATE (DENOTED MIR)

Definite Deals
These deals are contained in the VIP ad scan and utilize only the 10% MIR and the 5% discount when applicable.
LG 37" LCD (37L7D): 900-90MIR = 810

Samsung 19" LCD (LN-T-1953H): 330-33MIR = 297

Semi-definite Deals
If the discounts are ultimately not stackable, we should still be able to choose the football promo (50/150/250 off instantly) instead of the 10% MIR. This is because the date of expiration for that promotion is 11/17. I listed all prices even though some are higher than the ones listed above because some may prefer an instant rebate.
LG 37" LCD: 900-50IR = 850
Sony 32" LCD: 1000-5%-50IR = 900
Samsung 40" LCD: 1200-5%-150IR = 990

Samsung 19" LCD: 330-50IR = 280

Deals with Stackable Promotions

LG 37" LCD: 900-50-MIR = 850-85MIR = 765
Sony 32" LCD: 1000-5%-50-MIR = 900-90MIR = 810
Samsung 40" LCD: 1200-5%-150-MIR = 990-MIR = 891
Toshiba 42" 1080p LCD: 1250-5%-150-MIR = 1037.50-103.75MIR = 933.75
LG 42" plasma: 900-150-MIR = 750-75MIR = 675

Samsung 19" LCD: 330-50-MIR = 280-28MIR = 252

Doorbusters with Stackable Promotions
If doorbusters are available (but at the "After noon" price) AND promotions are stackable, these are the deals.
46" Sharp LCD (LC46D43U): 1200-5%-150-MIR = 990-99MIR = 891
40" Sony 1080p LCD (KDL40W3000): 1700-5%-150-MIR = 1465-146.5MIR = 1318.50

great post, one error, the 46" Samsung is a 150MIR not 250.

theUsername said: great post, one error, the 46" Samsung is a 150MIR not 250.

Good catch. I'll fix it. And just to clarify, in store purchases would be an instant rebate, not mail-in. I don't put an amount for the MIR until there is actually a final price to compute it for.

Schwoozer -

Starting another thread for this was great. I didn't update the other thread because I was never able to confirm the extra 10% off. If the extra 10% MIR works then it great. (EDIT - Note the 10% extra MIR has been confirmed now! )

The big remaning question now is will TVs be on sale for BF prices? While hinted upon in the advertising for F&F night they don't explicitly state this is the case. However the F&F sale does look promsing as it would make the currently-on-sale $1500 50" Panasonic Plasma about $1065.

Thank you. I'm going to be following this intently.

I'm curious what the price of the 46XBR4 might be for the weekend of the 11th. That's what I've got my eyes on.

i was wrong about the tvs under $999. on those you dont get the discount. sorry.
the tv's we dont have in stock will/should be orderable (which from a glance of the list, seems to be most of them). they should take a few days to get them to the store. if you are lucky, your Sears will have them in stock.

here is the paper which was available to the associates in the sales office. tells you a little about the 10% off through mail in rebate.
scan

btw, we have a sony 52' lcd on sale for $2600 (+$250 off = $2350). link

Question for someone that works at Sears. Say I bought a couple large items on the 11th. How many days would Sears hold the items before I would have to pick them up or get them delivered? Would they wait as long as 3 weeks or so? I'm moving after Thanksgiving but would love to take advantage of these deals a couple weeks early.

Also, what does the real fine print say at the bottom of that flyer?

the fine print says nothing which hasnt already been posted. sorry, i dont wanna type it or re-scan :X

i think they will hold it up to 30 days. when we ring stuff up, it asks us when the customer would like to pick up the merchandise. it shows us a calendar with the next 30 days on it. so i am assuming you would be able to chose a date up to 30 days later. make sure you tell the salesperson while they are doing the transaction though. otherwise, they will just put the current date and then you have 2 weeks before your stuff gets returned to stock and u have to come and get a refund.

Do you know if there are any interest free financing offers that night?

yes, we should still be running the football promotion on nov 11th (since it runs till the 17th)
32' or smaller = 12 months no payments no interest (or $50 off)
37 - 47 = 18 months no interest (or $150 off)
50+ = 24 months no interest (or 250 off)

ALSO........ we are running a special promotion starting sunday (tomorrow) on SHARP tv's. 36 months no interest! (i dont know when this promotion ends)

(i should be getting paid for doing so much work/promoting for Sears )

stupid question..it says no special pass needed. Do you just print the flyer and show up?

jmoney48,

Way to go on the employee flyer scan, that certainly confirms the extra 10% rebate. And thanks also for the clarification on the not-currently-in-stock items. This thread owes a lot to you.

thanks

no, u dont need anything, just go there between 6-9pm and the register will automatically take off the %. you dont need to have a Sears card, or aply for one.... but as stated, there are benefits to using your Sears card.

imo, the Samsung 46" 1080p LCD: 2000-5%-150-MIR = 1750-175MIR = 1575 is the best deal. thats about $1000 off our reg price.

also, dont forget about the additional football promotions. if you buy a dvd recorder or home theatre over $199 with your tv, you get:
1yr free in home warranty (through Sears)
free delivery through mail in rebate ($65)
$100 domino's pizza gift certificates through the mail.

Hi, what is the model number of that Samsunh 46" 1080p set? TIA.

im pretty sure its this one here
thats the only one we have besides the 71 series (25,000:1 contrast)

Excellent thread. Question about the football TV deals.... There's a 42" Panny (px77u) on sale at the main Sears website that comes up not available for delivery or instore pickup in my zipcode area. There is 1 store that has it in stock, about 20 miles away. Am I out of luck trying to buy it there and have it shipped to me? FWIW the Sears website store locator is lame. You type in your zipcode and a mile radius and the map thingy comes back with exactly the ONE store closest to you highlighted. Even though there are at least 5 major Sears stores within 50 miles there is no way to get a list of them all to check their stock. I got lucky hitting the one mall where it shows the TV in-stock. There may be others. Unfortunately, the store a mile away from my house doesn't have it

What about re-upping the stock on these TVs? Does Sears ever re-stock any of these sale items in the stores? I realize the great deals are going to go fast but Nov 17 is still 2 weeks away and it seems strange there is no stock on that TV at all in the greater NY metropolitan area. Not even in Manhattan and that's a bad sign because you can normally get anything in Manhattan.

The Panasonic px77u isn't on the list above. Does that mean the current football sale is a clearance-type sale and they're closing out the model?

So if I understand the flyer correctly then if I buy a 50" TV then the following should happen:

Say the TV price is $2000. Then you get instant 10% VIP discount , 10% mail-in rebate, and another $250 (current football promotion) for opening a Sears account.

So the breakdown would be $2000 - 200 - 250 - 155 MIR = $1400 +tax. Would the $250 and the 10% both work for opening an account?

Excellent Thread. I think this is a great way to avoid the craziness on BF

hi! i'm new here, thanks for posting up such a hot deal!

i've been telling my gf for over 3 years i'm going to buy a tv for my room.

i want to get the samsung 46" 1080.

would i be able to buy it on 11/9 or 11/10 and then on the 11th (or even buying it 1st thing in the morning on 11/11), ask them to price match it at night? i never had any luck with deals like this.

thanks =D

breely said: stupid question..it says no special pass needed. Do you just print the flyer and show up?

"No invitation or pass is needed for these exceptional
offers. Since everyone enjoys saving, spread the word
to your family and friends."

? for everyone on the friends and family sale on 11/11

I am looking at the Sony KDS-60A3000 TV (Sears link Mfg link)

The price says $2199, but my local furniture/electronics store (RC Willey) has it for $2099. Will Sears PM to this and include the specials from the FF 11/11 sale - break out like this:

$2199 - $110 PM = $2089 - $250 Sears credit = $1839 - 5% FF sale ($91.95) = $1747.05 - 10% MIR ($174.71)= $1572.35 ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

-DC

Just out of curiosity- the Cash Back when using the Sears card rebate: It states online that the rebate is only available on Sears.com purchases-Web only... How are you able to get the Cash Back on in-store purchase? (Unless I am missing something here???)

I think they would deduct the 250 instant rebate before they apply any percent-off deals.

With the 50" TV's, it's only 5% off instantly instead of 10% on VIP day. So your deal, I think, would look like:

2000 - 250 instant - 5% instant (87.50) = 1662.50 - 10% mail-in rebat (166.25) = 1496.25 + tax

MonicLoss said: Just out of curiosity- the Cash Back when using the Sears card rebate: It states online that the rebate is only available on Sears.com purchases-Web only... How are you able to get the Cash Back on in-store purchase? (Unless I am missing something here???)

The TV promotion is an instant rebate in-store or mail-in rebate online. See: http://www.thefootballchallenge.com

Another deal to stack on top of this:

Purchase a home theater or HD DVD player $199 or up with the TV and get:

free delivery (after rebate)
7 free Domino's pizzas
1 year of in-home service.

Details are on the link in the previous post, or at http://www.sears.com/shc/s/c_10153_12605_Computers+%26+Electronics_Televisions

michaelkenyon: you cant trust the online locator thingy. maybe you should call each store. if the manager is smart, then they will stock up on the tv's which are on sale, the other day our manager asked us (the sales force) what tv's to order, we told her all the stock numbers for the high comission tvs cuz we're always sold out. i told her to order the ones which will be on sale for friends and fam night, but i dont think she knew which ones those were. you will probably have to order whatever tv you want to buy, unless you are lucky and your Sears has it in stock. take the sharp 46 for example, its an old model and probably no Sears has them in stock (unless the distribution center ships them out to the stores the friday before nov 11th). no, the football promotion is for all hdtv's.
btw, friends and family night is nov eleventh (11th) not 17th.

mrtrance: no, you will get 5% off (5% off tv's $999 and up)(just for being there on friends and fam night), then $250 off (when you use your Sears card), then 10% off by mail in rebate (because you used your Sears card). if you open a new account, you can get 6 months no interest or $10-15 off your first bill.

kemichu: no, we (Sears associates) not supposed to do it. however, you might be able to buy it on 11/11 before the sale, then have the same salesperson void the transaction, and you can rebuy it with the discount.

vorpel: no, you get the price match or $250 off. so, the best deal you could get is the price match, 24 months no interest, 5% off, and then 10% off by mir. or 5% off, $250 off, 10% off by mir.

MonicLoss: if you buy in-store, you get instant $ off. $50, 150 or 250.

Oops, I don't have a Sears card. Can apply instore on the 11th and get the discounts?

yep

Thanks schwoozer, jmoney48 for the hot deal. Can you post the exact models for each TV? Without knowing the model number it's hard to say which one is really a hot deal

jmoney48 said: yep

Do you know if the 46XBR4 will still be on sale for $2799 next weekend? Thanks.

jmoney48 said: yes, we should still be running the football promotion on nov 11th (since it runs till the 17th)

Do the instant rebates apply as well?
If you do a price match will the promotions apply?

For the football promotion, will buying a PS3 count for the $199 bluray player in order to get the free 1 year home service and pizza? Also, what is the best scenario for the 46" Samsung 1080p lcd? Would it be cheaper on the 11th or BF? Thanks.

I couple questions:

1. I'm interested in the Sony 50" 1080p lcd projection thats in the OP for $1400 - a bunch of discounts. Is that the BF price? I thought that was the price they've been selling at for a while. Also, anyone know the response time on it? I dont know if I'd want the 8 ms.

2. I think my wife has a Sears card from years ago. Can we reactivate it in store if we do not have the card anymore or will I need to do that on the phone in advance?

Haudidoodie: sorry, i dont know. i could find out probably on thurs or fri (maybe).

SPLSInsider: the $ off that you quoted from me are instant rebates. you would get 5% off the sale price, then the instant rebate.... then 10% off by MIR. if you get a price match from another store, you will not get the IR. but u will still get the 5 and 10% by mir.

sithlord32786: i dont know about the ps3, i will ask. the best scenario for the sam 46 1080p will probably be on the 11th. $1500 is $600 less than fry's sale price i believe.

cardboardbox: you will want to activate the card before you get to the store, it will save everyone time. you might have to get a new one, not sure. if you get a new card, we can give you 6 months no interest or $10-15 off your first bill.

Sears has also extended their price match policy:
Any hdtv purchased between 11/04/07 and 02/02/08 has a 60 day price match instead of the normal 30 days.
Thanks op for a great post.

Guys... need your advice. I need a TV for my family room TV cabinet. We have space 45" diagnol and 36" wide. Any recommendations of a good deal thru VIP sale that would work??

Tnx,
Meevan

Question about the Samsung 50" plasma. The model for $1400 on BF is the HPT5044, but the model online and in-store is the HPT5054. Will the 5044 be available to purchase in-store or online on the 11th, or will that not be available until BF?

The people I talked to at Sears today couldn't give me much info on the F&F sale.

seems like this is Sears way of getting rid of old models? you will probably have to order it since we dont have the old models at the store anymore.

Skipping 720 Messages...

I'll be very curious to see if the football promotion returns in the fall. And if the effective dates change to avoid VIP night.

I hang out in AVS Forum alot and subscribe to the board for the TV I got (Samsung 5044). Anyway, there have been some minor to moderate issues with these sets, but lots of people have been willing to put up with the hassles of repair because they "got such a great deal on it," which almost always is in the $1200-$1300 range. It warms my heart every time.
