Depends if you're an AV snob or not. "technically" you could say it's 540p when you consider the true number of lines 'painted' on the screen which are distinct, as the panel will fill-in the spaces w/ the same data for the 'missing' lines.
if you can hold off, 1080p will be turbo cheap next year..and the standard offering.....will probably be very few 1080i/720p choices. since Feb 2009 is to be the HDTV standard...and "old" tvs won't work any longer (w/o added hardware).

take a chillaxative, he's just keepin it real. and he's right, it's still only 720p, not hot for the price. if it was a 1080p set, then that would be worth waiting in line for 2hrs in the morning cold.
can you explain how a fixed panel can display and interlaced signal? I though all fixed panel displays (Plasma, LCD, etc) were 720p or 1080p and that non-fixed panel displays (I.e. CRT, Rear projection CRT) were max 1080i.
According to Olevia it is a 720p (okay 768p) display. Link
It can accept a 1080i signal and down convert it, but it can not display a native 1080i signal without conversion.

I have the Olevia 27". Bought it in August, and the HDMI port went bad in September. They do not have local repair, you have to send the TV to them to replace. I started this process on October 3rd, and I am still waiting on the replacment TV to arrive. Each time you call you wait 20+ minutes on hold, and they keep telling you that your tv is on the priority ship list..... I have read some BB's where others have had similar experiences...
I know there are others who have had great experiences, but i will never buy a product of their's again. It is not worth the aggravation..

Yeah, you probably want to have at least a 32" screen to get the most out of HD-media. Below that, there is not much difference between upconverted SD-DVD and HD-DVD.

Wrong. HDTV is not the standard in 2009, only SDTV in digital broadcast is guaranteed. The vast majority of programming will still be standard definition. Even content broadcast in HD will be degraded substantially most of the time.
unless you're using the 37" tv for a computer monitor then the 1080p will make no difference anyway. Its way too small to tell the difference unless your 4 feet away from the thing. Its 1360 x 768, so it can do 720p and 1080i.

Agree. The Target I went to yesterday was all out. I called another this morning (which was actually closer to my home), and they seem to have plenty.... Headed over, was in out in minutes.... picked up the HDD , and one of the $9.88 1GB memory sticks as well
