Could anyone tell me if any of these laptops would be a good choice for a college student? Or am I better off waiting? Sorry for my ignorance, I am not quite sure if these laptops are worth it. TIA |

I've added more specs for the Compaqs at CC/Staples as well as links to ad scans. I've also added a link to the Sony @ BB scan. It doesn't really have any information, but I would guess it's a T2310. Hope this helps. |

I didn't see the Lenovo at the time so you have to look close. I began liking the BB door buster sony vaio for $399 until I looked at the consumer rating on the Inspiron which was in the top of all consumer reports categories. The laptop above is the sister to the Inspiron and very much the same but less attractive to look at. The $399 sony Vaio, the Lenovo for $599, and the one above are very close so read the feed back around the net before deciding. I am a person who like Sony, Lenovo and Dell equally well so no ax to grind there. |

some fwers are very picky now so they may want even better cpus or lower $ they may not buy yet. Thanks for the response. I would plan on buying one, but I really question the durability of these laptops. Some of them look like a good deal (sony vaio, among others but I certainly don't need anything real fancy. |

Does anyone have any more info about that 17inch HP with 2GB and X2 Athlon (assuming TK53) from CompUSA for $449. For that size screen with 2GB and a dual core processor, you really can't beat the price. However, I can't figure out the model number or any other info about this laptop. Thanks. |

I need to buy a laptop for word processing, excel, internet. I won't really use it for gaming. I think the Lenovo, the Sony, and some of the HPs look like pretty good deals, but there is no chance I will hit any of these stores before 9AM. Is there any chance I can get any of these at 9AM, or is the Vostro 1500 $549 deal my best bet? Thanks. |

Text Any idea if this laptop will have an analog video out option to connect to TVs? I currently have a Dell Precision M65 laptop and it has no such option and I couldn't find an accessory that work (I tried buying a VGA to s-video cable, but it didn't work either). |
