I am planning to buy King-sized Serta mattress as I have heard Serta makes one of the best mattresses. I was wondering does anyone have a place where I can get good deals on Sertas? I have heard that Sears sometimes has good deals on Sertas, but there is nothing yet.

Please feel free to share your experience with Serta or other good mattresses.

Costco is better for mattresses. I am not sure if they carry serta's but they do carry sealy's and they do have 100off now.

Sears always has some of it's mattresses on sale for 50% every week... make/model rotate usually weekly too. I would check out the Spring Air mattresses on Overstock.com as an alternative... they all have great reviews, which is more than I can say for Sears.com as no-one leaves reviews on their site. Look for coupons and Cash Back to sweeten the deal (I got a 7.5% coupon from Overstock in an email, although they do have 10% coupons floating around occasionally). Hope that helps.

Go to Sears. Write down the specs of whatever mattress you like that they're selling at 50% off. Go to Mattress Discounters, Sleep Train, or any competitor and tell them the price and the specs of the mattress and they'll give you their model for something like 10% less. I got mattresses they'd sell for 800, for 550 w/tax.

Better yet, go to a place like www.ccmcmattress.com and get an actual quality mattress that's flippable and uses cotton instead of foam padding. I've had my CC mattress for 14 years and it's still my favorite.

I can't remember what Custom Comfort mattress we have by name, but it's one of their midrange models. They make their own mattresses, so you won't get a Serta or a Sealy there. They're quite helpful if you call and ask. Just specify you want the least expensive one with no foam, just cotton. If you get a firm one and it's too firm, you can always add a foam or latex mat from Macys. I'm sure there are some internal differences between the mid-range and their high-end, but I think it mainly comes down to the existence and quality of the pillow top, and whether or not there's an extra layer of batting inside. They'll honestly tell you. Better yet, if you're in so cal, go in and try the beds.

And it's no scam. We have a Sealy Posturpedic for my daughter and it's just a POS in comparison. Our friends recently bought a Sealy mid-range and it's got these deep indents after just six months. There are other "old fashioned" mattress makers spread across the US, though the one I know of in San Francisco charges about twice what Custom Comfort does from what I could see.

Or like I said, if you wanna go local, copy down the specs of a mattress you like then play the stores off of each other. A mattress charging $1000 at the store usually costs them $250. If it's on clearance at $500, they're still making a huge profit so they all definitely have room to wiggle. It's the same with most furniture stores, except for, perhaps, Ikea.

If you have a Denver Mattress Company in your area check them out. I've had one of their Doctor's Choice mattresses for around 4 years and am very happy with it. Way cheaper than the name brand ones that I looked at too.

We have a sleep number bed from selectcomfort.com . i feel this bed will last us the rest of our lives ....... king size, dual chamber so we each set the firmness level we want.

They also have a memory foam top and pillow top available ....... we have had our king size for three years and our queen size we had for three years prior ..... the queen is now in the closet ready to go at a minutes notice.

Seems better to be able to select firmness levels and buy one that lasts (in our case quite possibly lifetime)

we had a serta prior but it hurt our backs after a few months .. not a design flaw per se but more likely to firm for us ......

Dont select the 9000 model and it gets a lot cheaper. we paid 2k for our king size.

I dont know i just looked real quick .. if i had to guess id say two chamber design vs single control for firmness if bed .... good luck.
