I've been trying to bring this issue to the attention of Apple. They have been trying to encourage me to drop the issue.

This is just a warning to people who use the Nike+ accessory with their Ipod nano.

They deleted my post four times before finally posting it, with heavy edits.

The Apple Care support tech I spoke to on the phone told me that this issue is not an 'emerging issue'. Any attempts by me to rally people who are having this problem, or even mention the term 'emerging issue' on my post has been deleted and edited.

I don't have a Nano myself but it's interesting that Apple would be trying to suppress this information.

is this just an issue with 1st generation nanos or all nanos?

I think it's related to usage, and likely to eventually happen to all nanos over time. This is unconfirmed by anything approaching scientific proof, but it seems the Nike+ receiver is damaging the pins of the docking port (bending, breaking who knows).

As I mention in the post on the Apple Care site, it is understandable that damage will occur to the docking port by usage, the repeated connecting and disconnecting of items. However, no noticeable damage has occurred by using the Apple produced USB docking cable, which in this house at least gets used 10x more (recharging battery, transferring music, updating workouts to Nike+).

If you or anyone you know that owns a Nano with this problem, please encourage them to reply to that post. Any attempt by to me suggest that users post, or reply to the thread if they are having the same problem has been edited. That violates the 'no petition clause' of the TOS. Naturally Apple won't begin to look into the situation until it becomes an "emerging issue" but how that is suppose to happen with their strict 'no petition clause' is beyond me.

We own 2 iPod Nanos and we use the Nike+ kits frequently on both of them. We have had no issues with damage, pins, connection problems at all. We have owned both Nanos for more than a year -- both still working perfectly.

I wish you continued success. If your Nano begins to have difficulty recognizing the Nike+ receiver, please post on the Apple Care site.

(btw My wife's Nano is older than mine, and is the one having the difficulty. My Nano is still working in combination with the Nike+ accessory.)

Is your wife's Nano still under warranty? Did you purchase an extended warranty? Did you purchase with a Gold/Platinum card which might have extended the warranty? Good luck!

Just a quick, semi-related question...does the Nike + accessory work with ipod Classics? I expected it to, since both the nanos and classics have the same docking port size on the units. (I don't know the technical name for it, but I am referring to the port.)
