is there any update on missing money....

woodsley said:I missed $30 on one check too and it has been month and nothing changed. If the checks don't come within 3-5 days, for sure something wrong is happening. The CSR and supervisor insisted that I had to wait 4-6 weeks. They don't know what is going on. Should I file a BBB complaint?

Get the tracking number by going to rebateshq.com, it will generally take a few days for the tracking # to show up at rebateshq.com, after it was submitted on StaplesEasyRebates.com. Also, don't request the check until you see that the debit card was sent out, which can be seen at rebateshq.com, usually 3-4 weels on an easy rebate. The only downside to getting the check is you will have to wait an additional 7 to 10 days, which I still do anyway.

loL. I GOT MY CHECKS IN ABOUT 3 DAYS. But.... I was supposed to get $500 on one check but only got $410, so im followig up on that. Secondly.. I use a 2nd address with a different zip code to get more rebates for when I go over the limit and I had $250 converted on those and I got one big check for $250 4 days later however it came to my 1st address address! lol.
On the phone now trying to find out where my missing $90 is at. And I still have like $1500 in credit/debit cards to go. Gawd this is a pain, but its worth it.

Has anyone considered calling Staples Corporate and providing a very polite feedback on the use of Visa as rebate payment? Customer feedback carries a lot of weight, specially with a customer friendly company like Staples (I'd think). Maybe they will start the option of either receiving a Check or Visa Debit Card (some folks prefer these as they prevent a trip to the bank).

I called the number this morning and followed brooklyn's instructions but they told me I would have to wait for the card to arrive before requesting a check.

Is this true?

Why maybe delay the rebate because you want a check.
The Visa is ok.

Even if you havnt recieved the card(s) yet you can still try it. IF they ask if you have the cards, tell them YES. Then when they ask, just give them the tracking number, which u find up in the address bar when u search for ur rebate at rebates.hq site.

The Visa is ok.

It's for a company purchase.

Used my $20 rebate card at Target yesterday with no problem, to pay for things I needed anyway.
Getting a check instead is too much hassle.

Do YOU have $1000 on a rebate debt card? Does anyone?
What relevance does that question have to any real-world situation?

Card came in the mail today. I called the number and asked them for a check instead of a card. They told me the check should get here in 7-10 business days.

Can you use both?

I'm not going to bother trying. She said she canceled it anyway.

Oh! Lady on the phone identified my card as a Staples card and didn't say anything negative about it. I guess it's not a problem using that number. Also, when they ask for the tracking number on the card it's different than the numbers on rebatesHQ and the Staples site so from what I can tell you have to get the card first before you call the number or else you won't have the tracking number they need.

To clarify, I'm talking about a total of $1000 on multiple debit cards.

I just deposited $1150 in rebates checks. If all of those rebates were issued in debit cards instead of checks, I most likely would have left the majority of those products "on the shelf".

Yeah, $20 here and there is not a big deal, but I'm seeing more and more rebates issued as debit cards.

I am also up there in the big dollars for rebates (Staples buys thru Sept 142k)
Their debit Visa rebates make no diff, I just spend them at Staples,
but if checks I would gain the cc kickback.

Got my (well, the company's) rebate check this morning. This whole exercise was relatively painless.

The Staples Rebate cards are issued by MetaBank (pursuant to a license from VISA U.S.A Inc.).

You can't add money to them at all, I tried.

- You have to select 'credit' when you use the "Staples Rebate Visa Prepaid card" (even though it says ‘Debit’ on the card)
- It comes already active and no need of a pin number.

I don't like the idea that they track what I use the card for.

I think going to your favorite store and transferring all the money that is on it onto a Gift card (or put on an existing Gift card) and you have all the money from the rebate and you just shred the Staples Rebate card.
Probem solved.

Then only spend it on groceries (they won't get a list, just that you spent $40 on groceries). Everyone buys groceries so not sure why that would be a concern.

I hate these foolish things too.

...The easy way to spend a Visa gift card is to find something that costs exactly the amount of the gift card. For example, my phone company lets me specify the exact amount I want to pay when I pay online. I just put in the balance of the gift card. Or just buy a store gift card for the exact amount of your Visa gift card. If you have a store gift card for $100 and your purchase comes to $100.01, the cash register automatically deducts $100 from your store gift card (instead of rejecting it like a Visa gift card) and asks for the balance due without any special action or knowledge on the part of the cashier.

I use my Visa gift cards to make a one time payment on my wireless bill, and let monthly autopay take care of the rest. No problem at all !
