The person I bought a camera from (2 weeks' ago) just got shut down by paypal/eBay. Will MSFT create any problems with the CashBack? eBay/paypal have completely erased him (2000+ 100% feedback), so I can't even 'see' my transaction with him anymore! |

As I responded in the other thread this has happened. I believe someone stated such a case on the first page of this thread. You may still get your CashBack, but now there is a higher chance that you won't. You'll have to come back here and let us know how it goes. |

Okay, so after yet another hour long episode on the phone with Paypal, I was finally able to get someone to admit what we already know. After having 3 people lie to me on previous calls, I was able to work a little further up the ladder to a person who finally acknowledged that there is a CashBack Review team at Paypal who reviews purchases and notifies Microsoft to pay or not. I was not able to speak with anyone from the "review team" but I was told that they did contact MS after my last phone call and informed them that my CashBack should be paid (on Nov. 5th). And I was told that the reviewer who sent this email to MS would be emailing me. I fully don't expect to be contacted, but at least I got past the ignorant drones this time. |

I didn't return these pants! Can someone please tell me what I should do in terms of how to contact either eBay or CashBack or both. how annoying.

I got shot down for $150 CashBack because the seller gave me a partial refund for minor shipping damage. I didn't return, exchange or cancel the transaction and still have the item in my possession. How do I fight this? "Q: What happens if I return, exchange, or cancel a purchase? A: Returns, exchanges and cancelations are subject to the store's return policy. If you return, cancel, or exchange part or all of a purchase, the store may reverse your purchase with us, and we won't be able to pay you any CashBack savings from that transaction." |

The "party line" from MS/eBay/Paypal is to state that ANY discount/refund from the seller kills your CashBack. Check the Wiki for the link to the BBB, I've been following the other CashBack thread and I'm not aware of anyone getting paid in your situation. I suspect you'll have to blaze a trail here. |

It seams to me that a lot of you were trying to get free money by doing nothing other than exploiting the system. IE buying gift cards to get CashBack. When i was young my mother told me there is no such thing as easy money. |

Are your payment for partial refund getting denied immediately or when you do the PAY ME button to get your cash out? Thanks. |

The problem that occurs with a lot of the accusations of TOS violations is when people pay more than the item is worth. THis is often viewed as fraud and collusion. For example, those folks on eBay selling gift cards for more than the face value and then saying to people to do the MS CashBack. People are actually buying those (not sure why anyoen in their right mind would do that). This looks highly suspicious to the folks at both Paypal and eBay. I saw some sellers that were bounced for that. |

All my 3 southwest gift cards purchases, had the CashBack denied. They say it is due to item returned, which is not the case. One of the transactions, has been removed by eBay. I don't know what to do? Anybody have any experience? |

When i was young my mother told me there is no such thing as easy money. A lot of people actually did this, just take a look at the original thread. The thing is that there really is nothing wrong with buying and/or reselling these things (the MS CB states this is a violation while the eBay TOS says it's OK). Most of the people complaining about being denied CB are, for the most part probably innocent victims being caught up in a "crackdown" on the huge amount of fraud that has occurred with this promotion.

I saw some sellers that were bounced for that. Ever buy an item for $50 with a $50 rebate? This forum is full of people who do, all the time. Many times the same item is available without a rebate for $20... So by your logic, by buying an item for "more than it's worth" - the purchaser is guilty of "fraud" "collusion" and the whole transaction is "suspicious". You really ought to google "fraud" and "collusion" - if you knew the meaning of the words you wouldn't toss them around so easily, because they are serious accusations - ones that could garner you a pop in the nose if spoken in person to someone with integrity. When you get done googling them you can come back to this thread and apologize for trolling. |

When i was young my mother told me there is no such thing as easy money. It really seams (sic) that way, doesn't it? Actually we're keeping eBay, Paypal, and Microsoft afloat. eBay's 3rd quarter sales (value of the merchadise sold on eBay) were DOWN significantly, even with FatherTed's $100k in forever stamps trading back and forth amongst FW and SD'ers. My family spent about $10k on eBay that we wouldn't have without the CashBack - and we normally spend only a few hundred a year on eBay at most. Were it not for this promotion eBay's sales would have been significantly lower - eBay and Paypal are losing customers at a rapid rate due to their customer-is-last policies. One more point to ponder as well - you've all seen the lines of customers trying to get their money back from Indymac Bank. Paypal claims it isn't a bank, and therefore isn't regulated AT ALL. There is no FDIC coverage on your Paypal account. Since Paypal isn't regulated, no one really knows what they do with your money - were they buying oil @ $100 a barrel, hoping it would hit $200? Was this whole promotion a last ditch effort to keep Paypal afloat? There's been a WHOLE lot of dough passing through this bank-that-isn't-a-bank-unless-it's-convienient-for-us. Makes you wonder. Microsoft spent millions on a search engine that NO ONE will use unless their PAID a couple hundred dollars a search. No doubt MS will be touting the "significant improvement" in utilization of the live search engine at their next stockholder's meeting - which is fine and dandy with me, as long as they honor their contract with me. As far as what your momma told you, I hate to be the guy who tells you there is no tooth fairy, but you really ought to know that some folks work alot harder for money than others. Dick Fuld, Angelo Mozillo, Dick Cheney, and even Bill Clinton have made pretty good money for pretty lame performances. I can't say that I always agree with it, but when in Rome..... |

And I got CashBack for an item canceled by eBay that I already paid for and was refunded the money by the seller. Go figure. Some FW's covered their tracks better than others. Reselling on Craigs, multiple eBay/paypal accounts, etc. We all took risks- especially on June 16th. Corp execs get away with millions and some of us get screwed out of a few thousand. God Bless America. |

If you return, cancel, or exchange part or all of a purchase, the store may reverse your purchase with us, and we won't be able to pay you any CashBack savings from that transaction." It appears I have just about the same problem. I was missing a part of my order and contacted the seller. Missing part came asap, no problems. BUT along with sending the missing item, apparently seller took it upon themselves and credited me back $10.00 without my even knowing about it. I certainly never asked for any money back! Anyways I called them and even told them I didn't want the credit (I did read and fear about the returns issue), but the seller assured me it would be OK and I would have NO problems, and they were only doing it as a courtesy. Well guess what, I have a problem. Live Searched emailed me informing me because I returned, exchanged or cancel the upadated amount to be paid apparently shows to be a big fat $0. According to their email header charges that if "I return, exchange, or cancel a purchase...", I did none of it. Yeah, it's pretty upsetting. Did not think Microsoft would be frauding people like this. Definitely would like to find out how to fight this. But it doesn't help when Microsoft does not even let people contact them properly. |
