As far as what your momma told you, I hate to be the guy who tells you there is no tooth fairy, but you really ought to know that some folks work alot harder for money than others. Dick Fuld, Angelo Mozillo, Dick Cheney, and even Bill Clinton have made pretty good money for pretty lame performances. I can't say that I always agree with it, but when in Rome..... I think what matter is whether it was earned...in this case I"d clearly think not since I believe most of these people denied were looking to take advantage of the system....for example you all that bought gold coins...did you resell them? That was not part of the deal was it?....you took advantage of a promotion to fill your pockets...now you are being denied...I love it...kind of caught up in your own craftiness and eating it.I hope you get nothing...you deserve it.as for in Rome...sounds like a sheep following the herd to me...learn to think and moralize for yourself |

If you return, cancel, or exchange part or all of a purchase, the store may reverse your purchase with us, and we won't be able to pay you any CashBack savings from that transaction."
It appears I have just about the same problem. I was missing a part of my order and contacted the seller. Missing part came asap, no problems. BUT along with sending the missing item, apparently seller took it upon themselves and credited me back $10.00 without my even knowing about it. I certainly never asked for any money back! Anyways I called them and even told them I didn't want the credit (I did read and fear about the returns issue), but the seller assured me it would be OK and I would have NO problems, and they were only doing it as a courtesy. Well guess what, I have a problem. Live Searched emailed me informing me because I returned, exchanged or cancel the upadated amount to be paid apparently shows to be a big fat $0.
According to their email header charges that if "I return, exchange, or cancel a purchase...", I did none of it.
Yeah, it's pretty upsetting. Did not think Microsoft would be frauding people like this. Definitely would like to find out how to fight this. But it doesn't help when Microsoft does not even let people contact them properly. They should have prorated the remaining amount instead of cancelling the entire CashBack. This is BS. |

Was it earned? - Yes, and MS AGREED it was earned and agreed to pay me through the BBB. Taking advantage of the system by buying gold coins? - Um, yeah, bought gold, using CashBack, through a link provided on the CashBack website when I searched for "gold coin". MS could have excluded "gold coin" pretty easily both by removing it as a search term and modifying the TOS, MS has modified the TOS at least three times since the promotion began, it's not like they forgot how, or that it's somehow impossible. I hope you get nothing. - Sounds like You got nothing and are a little bit jealous. learn to think and moralize for yourself This is a business we're dealing with - Businesses don't have immortal souls, and don't go to heaven or hell, even though some businesses certainly have earned trips up and down. Everything I've read says that there are no McDonald's in either heaven or hell, and St. Peter's Sin-O-Matic at the pearly gates is NOT running Windows. Thinking for myself - yeah, got that handled - but thanks for playing and maybe someday YOU can buy gold too! You might want to think about getting some gold for yourself, as well. When the USD ($) "goes-weimar" you'll need something besides dollar bills to pay for your hookers and blow. Just looking out for a fellow american, ymmv, imho |

They should have prorated the remaining amount instead of cancelling the entire CashBack. This is BS. There are PLENTY of governmental agencies and scum sucking ambulance chasers - I mean lawyers - that would LOVE to find a reason to take action against Microsoft. Suggest you file a complaint with the Redmond, WA BBB and Wash State Attorney General, clearly defining the issue and actions taken. I find it hard to believe that Microsoft will want such bad press or scrutiny, and will ultimately make good. While you are at it, file complaints with the San Jose, CA BBB and Ca State Attorney General against PayPal, as they too have some pretty deep pockets, and have made some enemies over the years. The more important lesson: don't kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. This is a VERY generous promotion, but unlike the Federal Government, and some popular opinion, Microsoft does not print cash, so they will fight back against those trying to take advantage of it. |

For those of you that got their claim denied, does Microsoft deny the claim before the 60 days? Or do the make you wait the entire 60 days and then deny you? |

In my case it was 2 weeks after I requested payout of earned CashBack - ~75 days. They've agreed to pay it finally, but it's week 2 since they've agreed, and still no money... |

And I'm pretty sure in all of my cases I didn't receive the denials until after the 60 days and I requested to "pay me". So let it be understood NOTHING is a given as far as getting your CashBack, unless the money is actually in your account. (still waiting for Screwupal to creatively steal that from us too) I continue to encourage people to file complaints with the BBB, State AG, and FTC against all three involved - Microsoft, eBay, and Paypal. The same wording would work for all three forms, just change the company names. And they are ALL equally responsible here. I find it ironic that some many of us are accused of "collusion", when all 3 of these guys refuse to help, claim not to know how to help, and no one has any contact info for the other companies.
Talk about collusion. |

http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=991545&page=5 It seems like the SDers got in late on this game, so they're just starting to feel the pain. I expect it to get much worse for everyone in a few weeks. I'm beginning to feel that we will have no other alternative but to seek legal counsel in this situation.
I'm beginning to brainstorm on how to get that started (for everyone). Perhaps sending a letter to several law firms and see who responds? Suggestions? I mean, how do you start a class action lawsuit? We need a law school student who needs some work experience |

My tip for the day is lets get this on Consumerist. Send your story to Consumerist.com about getting the run around. Send e-mails to tips@consumerist.com and copy jarvis@consumerist.com (he responded to my initial e-mail) Basically, They claim I violated TOS at paypal. They won't say what TOS, I bought two cameras and 4 wii fits on 3 different transactions (1 camera, 2 camera, 3 4 wii fits). Nothing has been cancelled, returned, refunded. Cashteam@live.com hasn't responded to 3 e-mails over the last 2 1/2 months. Paypal doesn't know WTF to do. Told me a manager would call me and they never did. Told me to e-mail cashteam, talk to the online chat support (which is now gone).

The Microsoft/eBay/PayPal partnership seems to have just been simplified. It will probably have problems but the CashBack is now instead of waiting 75 days to arrive will now be instant and show up in your PayPal account in a matter of moments. This in theory should cause less problems with us having to wait over 60 days for payout just to be denied. I suppose now they could retroactively deny you and then take the Cash Back from your PayPal account and if you have none shut down or take your Pay Pal account to collections. http://pages.eBay.com/help/buy/questions/CashBack.html#how |

It looks like most of them are still 60 day wait, except it shows in your live.com account right away. So unless it gets figured out what causes instant CashBack, or they make that the norm for all transactions, nothing really changes. Plus the weekend's changes seem to have caused more problems with their system, I have old CashBack ready to pay out and when I try to request a payment via Paypal it errors out with some weird error code right at the end of the process. And that's even before I request it and hope it doesn't get denied. I feel like a beta tester for Microsoft sometimes. |

It seems this is a second rollout of the Microsoft/eBay partnership which was just put out today. As I understand it all CashBack rewards should be instant and no longer be subject to the 60 day period from here on out. I assume the terms and conditions will be updated in the near future with the new conditions. http://pages.eBay.com/help/buy/questions/CashBack.html#how I also suspect this will cause problems as there have been from the day one. Ever since Live Search CashBack aquired Jellyfish.com and slapped their name on it is has been wrought with problems. |

Thanks for the info Frogger12 - how did you hear about the second rollout of the partnership? I just received two CashBack notifications in my eBay account that were different from the others I received several weeks ago. The most recent versions did not have a button that says "Get CashBack" So effectively there doesn't seem to be a way to link my most recent transactions with my CashBack account. Don't know what to expect at this point. FWIW The exact eBay message content of the original was: ------------ Hi William, It pays to shop eBay! You've earned US $200.00 CashBack. To get your money: 1. Click the Get CashBack button to access or create your Microsoft account. 2. Microsoft will notify you that your CashBack is available after 60 days (in case you decide to return your purchase). Then, simply tell Microsoft which PayPal account you want your CashBack sent to! Conditions apply. Be sure to check them out. Thank you, eBay ------------ The more recent eBay message was: ------------ Hi William, You're eligible for US $200.00 CashBack! Your Microsoft CashBack will be available in your PayPal account in approximately 60 days, subject to conditions. We appreciate your business. Thank you, eBay ------------ |
