Here is the reply for a Newegg rebate for a Rosewill product:

Yeah, this is the e-mail I got from Newegg regarding the rebate: (Note that this isn't from customer service but a standard letter sent to my rebate e-mail address)

Dear Valued Newegg Customer:

We regret to inform you that our 3rd party Mail-in-rebate processing provider is unable to honor the rebate checks for the item you purchased at Newegg.com. At Newegg, however, we are committed to ensuring your satisfaction and will personally take on the responsibility to process each and every rebate at our own expense.

As we commit to doing everything possible to ensure proper payment of your check, we apologize for any inconvenience derived from this matter and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

Please make sure to follow these general guidelines:


1. Do not deposit the check into your bank or any financial institution, it will not be honored

2. Make a photocopy of your rebate check

3. Mail original check and a copy of this email to the following address:

Newegg Inc.
Attn: Mail-In Rebate
17708 Rowland St.
City of Industry, CA 91748


Newegg will also be receiving your information directly from the Mail-In rebate processing company and we will expedite the issuing of new checks to each affected customer. Noticed that Staples was on this list, I just purchased 11/21/08 "Microsoft Live Onecare" from Staples and it includes a $20 Staples rebate. The MIR form refers to "/rebatestatus.microsoft.young-america DOT com" for rebate follow-up.
Is this bogus, should I MIR?

Anyone know what is happening with CSK Auto rebates? I heard they were being transferred but as of what date? I checked rebatestatus.com and it tells me to expect it to be mailed after Dec 23... who knows...

After getting no response from Nero to my last email I sent them yet a third email threatening to complain to the FTC and the BBB. Here is the response I received...

Dear Nero Customer,

We are working to resolve this issue, there’s no need to file a complaint with BBB.

I’m currently meeting with upper management to put together a solution ASAP. We plan to issue checks to everyone that submitted a rebate submission. Please don’t worry, you will get your check.

I did not do anything to transfer the rebate. I received email from Parago advising that my rebate was processing. I still have not heard anything about Kensington rebates submitted by my "friends".

I received a postcard from Kensington today which has this text: Kensington.

I deposited 2 PG checks on 11/17 before realizing that I should not have done so. My bank notified me yesterday that 2 checks totalling $10 was returned. On top of that, I incurred a $14 fee.

I also deposited 2 checks from PG but mine were on Nov. 4 and so far I have dodged the bullet. Still haven't bounced in the 3 weeks since depositing so am hopeful...

Sorry for your misfortune. Might be worth calling your bank to see if they will waive the penalty since obviously this was not due to any overt action on your part.

Smith Micro told me today that their rebates were transferred to Parago. If your name is on their list they will manually mail you a check, otherwise Parago got the list. No worries they said.

Anyone heard anything from PC Tools? I called phone number in Wiki and it sounded like it was CPG. Its been 11 wks since rebate submitted. Rebate form said to call after 10 wks. CSR said to call back in another week. I emailed corporate, got canned "email received" message but no reply yet. I see PC Tools has now switched to Parago for new rebates.

It's absolutely reasonable to request PG to compensate you for bank fees. The question is how willing would they be to do so, and how much energy are you willing to waste fighting them if needed. Anyway, it makes a perfect sense to ask.
