Please post your answer if you get one, I also contacted Newegg for my rebate, they said they will send an email to the rebate center and the center will respond me in one week. Let's wait and see. |

Hi, Im an employee for the rebate center that everyone is bickering about. Id just like to state that you all sicken me. Whining and complaining over a few bucks on a lousy rebate. You were going to purchase the product regardless of the situation, the rebate was just an added bonus. While all of you seem to be freaking out over how your going to get your $15 or $20 rebate checks, some of us are worried about our homes and families. Im sure some of you are counting on the money to assist with paying for things, but if you factored a rebate check into your budget or planning, then maybe you should really rethink some things in your lives. |

Presuming the above post is legitimate... Yes, sorry for your circumstances. I'll assume your post is made from feeling angry and frustrated, because frankly, it is all washed up, full of presumptions, generalizations, and just plain hostility. You have no business coming here and criticizing anything or anyone in this thread. Many of the rebates handled by CPG are worth well more than $20. I personally have several Bridgevine rebates worth around $300 alone. And stating that rebates are just "bonuses" that no one should really count on is really silly. I could go on, but it really isn't necessary. If you feel a little better after venting, fine. Now channel your energy into something positive (networking, job hunting, relationships, etc.). Because if you are looking for sympathy and understanding, coming here and spitting out bitterness is not the best way to get it. You do realize that if we whiners and bickerers didn't submit rebates, you wouldn't even have had a job in the first place? |

Im not venting. Im not doing this out of hostility or anger. Im simply allowing everyone to see both sides of the equation. Obviously there's alot of rebates for well over $20, but again, the vast majority aren't. Im simply giving some knowledge as to what's going on because right now, everyone is full of assumptions, and again, being an employee, Im hoping to clarify things a bit. Im sorry if I came across as being bitter and what not. But one thing I can definitely assure you, in the state the economy is in, rebates should be the last of your worry. Big named stores and businesses are closing down everywhere. Circuit City is the latest to take the big hit. Do some research, its pretty scary out there. |

KroniLogiK, you sound a little calmer this morning, but you still aren't making sense or are not being honest. Reread your original post: calling people "whiners" who are "bickering" and that it "sickens" you. That most certainly sounds like anger and bitterness! Good grief! To address another point, how many dollars a rebate is worth is beside the point. If someone has mailed in a rebate, they most certainly have a right to expect to receive it. People are coming here to discuss how to obtain these rebates now that CPG has left the scene. That's all. I'd say the tone of this thread has overall been rather civil and constructive. Yes, the economy is bad, businesses are closing, and uncertainty is everywhere. Nobody here lives in a cave--we all know what's going on out there. That doesn't change anything about this topic. Again, the purpose of this thread is to discuss the situation with rebates handled by CPG. Rebates are certainly not the first thing occupying anyone's thoughts, but I for one will continue to do some productive "worrying" until I receive the money I am due. |

You, sir, are - to put it as gently as possible - clueless. Most of us aren't going to be living in the streets if we don't receive the rebates, but any reasonable person calculates the rebate into the decision to purchase a product with one. For companies not to follow through with paying rebates is tantamount to fraud. I daresay it's no surprise that you were working at a rebate center. |

Lol...another interesting shift at CPG. The calls keep pouring in. I apologize for calling people whiners and bickering and blah blah blah, but wow, some of the things I come across on a daily basis definitely justify me making those accusations. Just for an update though, CPG is not closing down. They are currently in the process of restructuring the company. Through the restructuring phase, alot of rebates are not being handled by this center anymore (Canon, CSK Auto, BFG, Kensington Computers, Costco, Staples, etc.) However, many rebates are and will continue to be processed through CPG. To whoever made the post of outstanding rebates through Bridgevine, Bridgevine will continue to be processed through CPG and there rebates will be honored. The processing time for Bridgevine rebates has always been a loooong 10-16 weeks, which is why many believe that they wont receive it. |

Well, I'm of the impression that this will be a good thing for consumers in the long run. Granted some additional work for some in the short run, but it appears companies like Costco are readily absorbing the loss of funds left with the rebate house and payingthem in store. With the demise of this rebate houses that was so popular, and the reportedly missing millions of dollars in their hands (who knows where that went?) it would seem that in the future companies will just reduce prices of things on sale without making anyone go through the silly hoops of sending in scraps of paper and UPC's for a rebate. I'd look forward to a system like RI has where all "rebates" are done at the point of sale. |

How about Antec? I received a check (dated 11/5) from CPG on 11/14 for Antec laptop cooler. Will CPG honor the check or will it be returned? |

I wouldn't bank on the demise of rebate houses happening anytime soon. Most of our former clients have already began transferring all of their files to new rebate centers..and there are quite a few of them (Young America in MN, El Paso TX, Miami FL, Bridgeport CT, and NJ.) Not too mention, if anyone has read up on the lawsuit CPG filed towards Garvin Promotions (former owner of CPG) , his 3 year no-compete clause ends this year. Already, there was an ad in my local newspaper hiring for positions for a new rebate center in 2009 "Garvin Promotions Group - GPG." Son one rebate center bows out (and CPG may make a recover), and a brand new one is quick to replace. As for the Antec inquiry, contact Antec customer support before cashing the check, Im pretty sure they were still valid, but I don't want to mislead. |

I'd say your post is both wishful thinking and oversimplification. It's too early to proclaim the death of the mail-in rebate. As has been pointed out, there are many other processors out there. It's still a viable business model, and love it or hate it, the BEST deal for the savvy consumer is still with a rebate. Look at Bust Buy and Orfice Max. These two companies dropped rebates with the supposed notion of lowering the price up front. That lower price is almost never as good as the sale plus rebate found elsewhere. It makes sense, really. As long as the consumer follows through, the deal is his to be had. Until something better, i.e., cheaper, comes along, I'll keep playing the rebate game. |

Not to defend rebate processing companies in any way shape or form (after all they did completely screw me out of job), but to call rebate processing companies a scam is quite chomical. Some of the calls we receive on a daily basis leave us employees scratching our heads wondering how some of these people managed to pick up a phone and dial our number. The terms and conditions are there for a reason. READ THEM! Everybody in this world is aware of fine print, and they openly admit it everytime they call, yet, it's our fault that they blatantly disregarded the rules and regulations. I will admit, some of the companies we've processed for over the years were pretty shady, but those companies don't last very long. The key thing is keeping copies of everything you have submitted and following up all the time. |
