Well I have been waiting for 60 days for my CashBack and when I check my status..I found that my first CashBack purchase showed as "failed" with a few lines like

"We've encounterd a problem depositing your CashBack reward into the PayPal account that you used for your eBay purchase. But we will keep trying."

I have contacted the customer support (https://support.search.live.com/)
got an email saying that there is a "technical issue" and they have been working on it, I should be able to get Cash Back within 72 hours and my case is "closed"

72 has passed no sign of resolving the issue at all, and guess what, my second purchase shows as "failed" again with the same description

anyone here has the same problem?

everyone should email tips@consumerist.com so they will write a story about this!

First step is to try the following:

enable the PayPal option to receive payments from unconfirmed senders or senders with unverified addresses
My Account--->Profile--->Selling Preferences--->Payment Receiving Preferences:
Block Payments for the items not sold on eBay from U.S. users who do not provide a confirmed address: If it is "Yes" change it to "NO" or "Ask Me"

I've received all of my CashBack from eBay BIN purchases starting from Oct through Dec. About 8 purchases, a couple were instant cashbacks, some were automatically deposited after some time (30-60 days), and others I had to log onto the live.com site and request the CashBack (I believe they emailed me for those and said I needed to do that).

Is the email you entered for your PayPal acct on live.com correct?

This is a known problem. Look at the larger live Cash Back thread and you will see others who have had the same problems. Mine is related to an eBay purchase that they attempted to automatically deposit after 60-days. Also check PayPal as some failed transactions show up. Mine hasn't but others reported failed transactions actual being in their paypal account. This happens even when you Paypal address is correct.

I have the same problem here, all three transactions were supposed to be available 25, 26th but show as failed. Anyone had any luck with support? My paypal address is correct but this should be irrelevant cause they have to go from pending to available before I ask for pay out.

I got the same generic canned replies as well as some other false promises and still don't have my CashBack deposited to my PayPal account and they're ignoring my e-mails (been e-mailing them almost every day for a week or so). I'll check to see if the other thread has any phone number but if anybody has it, please post here, as well.

I'm having the same problem. They owe me over $1000 and I'm getting no replies since the 1st canned response. This is absolutely ridiculous. If I don't get mine, I'll never use live.com, Paypal or eBay again, and I've been an eBay member since it began, and the same for Paypal. I have 5 Paypal deposits showing as "FAILED".

Anyone have any advice on how to reaqch them? The customer service email is a joke because they don't reply.

I am having the same issues too... they also apparently cannot spell encountered either.... HELP!

Same here. 3 failed deposits that were supposed to go into my Paypal account today. Previously, it had worked fine, I'd login and request the payment to Paypal and it went right over (they were $5-10 each).

This time around though, I have $500 pending, and other $200 that will come out of pending status on Sunday.

I'm having the same problem as well.

All of my purchases during the 30% promo are showing as failed, as well, and are not in my PayPal account. I hope its just "technical difficulties," but I smell something fishy.

The only canned response I have received is essentially thanks for contacting MS we are overwhelmed and there might be some delay in getting back to you. That was 4 days ago now. I have not received the failed payment and today live.com is showing another payment, that I requested on 1/26 as "Paid" even though it is not showing up in my PayPal. For what it is worth none of these purchases were eBay related.

As to the folks looking as where to go next you probably will need to escalate to external parties BBB, AG and others. My plan is to wait and see how things develop and to wait until I have tried to collect the bulk of my remaining rewards so I know exactly what has not been paid. I am already documenting everything at this point in order to do that if necessary. That is a couple of more weeks. I am just thankful that the bulk of my CashBack has already been paid.

Interesting thing happened to me. While two PainPal deposits have "failed," I just successfully received a new one that matured with Cashlack today. In fact, it was deposited the SAME day it matured, and this has never happened. It's always been at least seven days. Unfortunately, the failed deposit attempt on the 15th of Jan., and the 20th as well are still in limbo despite three emails to their support (sic). All were eBay purchases with the same account & email. It would appear the "glitch" applies to some deposits, yet not others.

One of my 30% cashbacks just failed today too. Yet all previous cashbacks had no issue at all.

Add me to the list of failed payments from Microsoft. I have two small transactions from eBay which were the 30% Cash Back and they both failed to send me a payment and I did not use a coupon. I only get the normal "we are working on the problem" response. I can't believe Microsoft would go to this degree to screw people out of their funds. Not that I think they are an upstanding company or anything but they have so much in cash that I have to wonder why they feel a need to screw up this service like this almost appearing to do it on purpose. I can't believe that anybody at fatwallet would ever use their service again. What have they accomplished?

I've had 2 fail. The first one on the 16th. They got back to me and said it was in my paypal account but it wasn't. They then said it's escalated to "tier 2" but I haven't heard back from them for a week. The second one failed a few days ago. Interesting thing - the two big purchases failed but in between the two of these I've been paid on 3 smaller (less than 5 bucks) CashBack amounts.

I have two failed as well. This isn't looking good!

My e-mails had also been ignored. The second "failed" attempt was over a week ago already and their CSRs have lied to me 3 times already just on this one case.

I also have 2 transactions that have failed and that's supposed to deposit in a few days(which I'm sure will fail as well). I do not think Microsoft is trying to screw us, but definitely something is wrong and its kind of frustrating. Customer Support replied to the e-mail I sent, and I just sent a response, we'll see what comes of it...

Add me to the list with almost $450 in 3 transactions that show as failed.

I wish I was that optimistic too. Unfortunately so far we are dealing with very incompetent Customer Service who responds with very slow precanned emails, which don't explain anything but ask for feedback for their support. So far very few people reports positive solution to their problem.
Microsoft has even problem counting to 60 (shows at 59th day), why would you think they can budget/count their money?

I am experiencing this too.

The customer service rep. said I was being transfered to a tier 2 guy for help... however, it's been over a week and I have yet to hear from them.

Hopefully they'll be able to fix this problem. Same deal as y'all, an eBay transaction -- though mine was for 25% off. A STP transaction just went through fine.

I am also having this problem.

They owe me $150 and show failed 3 times on their transfer attempt (which they initiated, not me).

I smell lawsuit if this keeps up with so many of us.

I now have nearly $400 of failed CashBack. Live.com is claiming it's a problem with my Paypal account, but I have had no problem receiving eBay payments to Paypal. WTF

They should really just hire a bunch of high school kids to PayPal us manually instead of counting on their incompetent programmers to fix the issue(s?) with automatic transfers/payments.

Just got it too for a completely legit eBay purchase, no funny business, gift cards, multiple accounts, nada. They owe me about $100 and are blaming it on paypal, which has no problems getting funds from anyone else, including live.com, which transferred in Cash Back from the HP 40% just yesterday.

Add me to the list of "failed" for about $100

Maybe Microsoft is the fail!
At least until they fix the problem

I received another response from live.com. I'm quite frustrated now. They want me to verify with paypal that I can receive cash (duh!) and then get back to them. Isn't this what they should be doing? Anyways, here's the letter I got:

Thank you for contacting Live Search CashBack Support!

LIVE.COM USER, we're sorry for the delay you have experienced with your CashBack payment. We have attempted numerous times to send the payment to the PayPal account used to pay for your eBay purchase. After working with PayPal to understand the failure, we think the account may need to be reviewed by PayPal Customer Service, or your CashBack account may not reflect the payment has been posted correctly to your PayPal account. Please take the following steps:

1. Log into the PayPal account you used to pay for your eBay purchase.

2. Confirm that the payment does not appear in your account.

3. If the payment does not appear, please contact PayPal Customer Service to have your account reviewed, see link below.

4. After PayPal Customer Service confirms your account can receive funds, please reply back to this email with your PayPal account email address and we'll attempt to send the payment again.

They owe me 50 bucks. It failed 3 times. WTF. Paypal eBay and microsoft. The three frickin stooges

I just talked to paypal and they said this is a known glitch, and should be fixed in a few days, (from
the email Paypal received from live.com yesterday).

OOps, posted twice!

I experience this two, two cashbacks for over $200.00 The so called Tier 2 person come back with an email ask me to contact paypal to have my account reviewed. This is absolutely ridiculous! my paypal account works fine to receive rebates from other websites, the only one I have problem is live.com. I told them that and inform them I am filing complaint with BBB which I just did. I am livid!

I have got CashBack payments with no problem when we had to request it at the end of 60 days. After they converted to the auto-payment system, I have several failed payments on my account.

I opened a ticket and below is the response:
A technical issue has been identified that is causing requested PayPal CashBack payments to show as failed in your CashBack account. However, if you log into your PayPal account, you will be able to see that the payment did go through successfully. This is a known issue we are working to resolve, and apologize for the inconvenience and confusion.
I responded saying the payment has not reached my PayPal account.
Thank you for contacting me back at Live Search CashBack customer support with your continued concerns. I am truly sorry that this issue has yet to be resolved to your satisfaction. I am now going to take the information you have provided, and escalate this issue to our Tier 2 team.
No response for several days from the Tier 2 team. I sent an email to the general microsoft customer service email address two days ago and I got the following response:
To assist you in the best way possible, I have forwarded your concerns to the CashBack Live escalation team for research and evaluation. You will be contacted by CashBack Live escalation personnel within the next two business days. Please let me know if you have not been contacted by Friday, January 30.

My 30% CashBack due on 1/29/09 failed as well. However, all previous cashbacks were deposited instantly with no issue at all. I sent 2 emails to the support team (1 yest and 1 today), but no response...

Both of my eBay cashbacks are showing this failed. The thing is that I just had another live CashBack that was approved and it let me transfer it to paypal fine (not automatically, I had to select 'send payment'. I don't get why the failed ones are any different.

I hope this is not the answer they give to their employees after withholding their paychecks for more than a week. My first deposit was scheduled to be done on the 18th. BTW I keep sending emails asking about the status and I don't get any replies, just like hitting brick wall. The ignorance of this company is truly unbelievable.kplus4g said: I just talked to paypal and they said this is a known glitch, and should be fixed in a few days, (from

ALL of my CashBack transactions, totaling about $130, have "failed" TWICE so far.
Supposedly they will keep trying. I suspect that blaming PayPal for this SNAFU is just BS.
Dibs on the lead status when this goes to class-action status!

Yeah, I'm getting the PayPal blame game too.

I'm getting the FAIL FAIL FAIL message too. One is actually "In Process" so maybe it will work. I've done arund 8-9 transactions in the past, all went through very easily. This is one of the 30% off BINs.

Skipping 301 Messages...
I'm having the same problem as well.
