I didn't see this around throughout the site so I thought I post it. Credit goes to Rcommander from SD.
This is confirmed to work! T-Mobile has started discounts that NOW range from 10-15% on Universities; STUDENTS are also eligible. You can do this B&M, on the phone or with an online rep. It would be good if we started a wiki of all the schools that work/do not work.
Use this link for live chat. I got it done within 5 minutes.

Wow, that was easy to do online. Took 5 minutes, provided my email address for my school...cinch.

University of Minnesota (10%) - anyone tried this one with alumni?
Edit to add: Just did it through chat and asked about University of Minnesota alumni discount - was told it's 15% and it was added to my account. No changes to plan, just changed billing cycle! Thank you to whoever posted it!
I got 15% off!...also a U of Minnesota alum. I just used the chat and told them I went to school there and my student ID and student email.

I just tried doing this through online chat and was told that FlexPay accounts are not eligible for this or any other corporate discount. She did happily offer to switch my FlexPay to a post-paid account. Before she did that, however, I had her check to make sure my schools even qualified for the discount, which they don't (Middlebury College in Vermont and St. John's College in Maryland). I had her check two others schools for friends of mine that have T-Mobile and I found out that Georgetown University and the University of Maryland both have 15% discounts. Just FYI.

Do they verify the email address, like sending out a confirmation and then have you click on it?

Works for George Washington University, however for those on family plan - I was told the student would need to be the lead name on the plan for it to take affect.

Just got 15% as a SDSU alumni. Couldn't get the chat working so I just called. They said it would take 30-45 days to go into affect. They changed my billing cycle. My contract expiration stayed unchanged.

I called, and the CSR was very friendly and helpful. She commented, "I'd love to get a discount for you today" as she searched for our schools. We got 12% for RIT (husband's school), but she couldn't find anything for Smith College (my school). Corporate node# for RIT is 4946806.

I called CSR and was redirected to 1-877-453-8824. It is 12% discount for Alumni and 15% for students. CSR asked my Alumni # and alumni assocation phone number. Also, I asked to see if he can waive my activation fees for 3 lines in my family plan. He did a search and put me on hold for 2 minutes and then agreed to waive the activation fees ($35*3=$105). The billing cycle will be on the 18th of each month and will take 30-45 days to go into affect. Thanks OP!

Does anyone know if we can combine the discounts? my school is offering a 15% discount and my gym is offering a 10% discount. any chance of stacking them? has anyone tried it?
I just got off the phone with T-Mobile. I was told no go on the academic discount with the Unlimited Loyalty plan. I explained to the CSR that I was told it was possible, as I was told on 03/03/2009 when I was approved as a UMass Alumnus/Student. CSR told me that was incorrect info. Pick either or. Decisions decisons...
Anyone have any luck getting the discount with the Unlimited Loyalty plan?

no you can not stack up. the previous discount will be removed.
no luck with the unlimited loyality plan. got this response from csr:
"I have reviewed you account and see you have our Unlimited Loyalty price plan. Customers that have the loyalty plan will not receive a discount on their account; we greatly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. You may currently see a discount on your bill; however, this will be corrected on future statements. You may still add the discount to the account to receive other great benefits specific to your corporate agreement"
anyone had better luck with this?

Wife (primary on T-Mobile family account) is Alumni at Utah Valley University (UVU). Just went on the online chat through link provided in first post. Took less than five minutes, now have 15% discount coming (should lower our ~$83 monthly to ~$70)
Here's the chat log, in case it helps others... I entered "student discount" as the chat subject.
T-Mobile Online Chat said: Please wait while we find an agent to assist you... You are currently at position number 1 in the queue. All agents are currently busy. Please stand by. You have been connected to Annette C. Annette C: Hello can you hold on for a moment (Wife's Name): Sure Annette C: What school do you attend? (Wife's Name): Utah Valley University Annette C: do you have a university email address? (Wife's Name): Yes, it is 11111111@uvlink.uvu.edu (the number is my student ID) Annette C: thank you Annette C: I need you to read and reply to the following please Annette C: 1. You remain bound by the Terms and Conditions of Service agreed to at activation with T-Mobile. 2. By participating in your the employee account program you will be eligible to receive a 15% discount on your monthly invoice determined in accordance with the terms of the master agreement between your employer and T-Mobile. 3. T-Mobile may release your Account Name, Mobile Number, Employee ID, or other account information to your employer for employment verification purposes. 4. The discount will only be available as long as your employer participates in the employee account program with T-Mobile and then only for the term of your employment. 5. The billing cycle date has been changed to the 19th of each month 6. The discount may take 30-45 days to appear on your bill and will be listed under the ""Adjustment"" section of your statement. (Wife's Name): Okay, I have read it and agree. Annette C: thank you Annette C: I have that added for you Annette C: and unless you have questions our process is completed (Wife's Name): Thank you very much. As I just paid my bill, does that mean this discount will likely show up on my next bill, on the 19th? (Wife's Name): Of next month, of course Annette C: the cycle needs to change before you get your discount and it may take up to 45 days to appear on the billing (Wife's Name): Okay. Thank you!
Surprised more people aren't trying this; no harm that I see. Five minutes for 15% off? Woot!

Are these 1 or 2 year commitments? What about special pricing on phones & no activation fee (a la Starbucks discounts from last year)?

No go for Univ. of Texas alumni. They said "the only groups that are eligible for the discount under the University of Texas are faculty, staff, and students."

I just verified that 15% is applicable if you have a University of Oklahoma email address.
