As the title said, this is not really a straight hot deal but, please hear me out. It may negatively affect some of us here.
Chase pays a $50 bonus when you redeem $200 in Cash Back rewards. Some of us here have taken advantage of that in the past. Unfortunately, I just got a mail from Chase which I discarded as junk mail. Thanks for my wife who picked it up and read it. According to the mail:
"The $50 bonus when redeeming $200 in Cash Back Rewards will no longer be available after June 30th"
So I suggest that folks that have accumulated $200 in Cash Back Rewards cash out before June 30th. Yeah, you make $50 on $200 (does this make for a hot deal?).
Thanks for posting this. I wonder if it makes sense to get a different card. I had gotten that extra $50 3 times already--other cards might offer something as good or better. I haven't looked in years.
For those of you that are short, have you tried using the Chase shopping center for extra Cash Back? Signing up for a trial of Netflix is $15, for example.
Dude. It is FAR worse than you wrote. They also discontinued the 3% Cash Back on "Everyday spending categories" is no longer in effect. That means ONLY 1% Cash Back on everything (except that they vaguely refer to 1% back on "new spending categories throughout the year." They are going to be paying out about HALF of the bonuses they were previously. I think it is time for a new card! Nutwood, I searched mint.com forums (for "chase freedom") and could not find anything about this. Link?
dont know how to link but the thread is - "Order Dollar Coins from US Mint at Face Value with Free Shipping (Alive!)". search here in FW !!!

Don't forget that they've also added a $30/year fee for keeping the card!

I have not received the email but I just login to my reward account and it is still showing the $50 bonus and 3% reward.

It looks like the $200 reward with $50 bonus is not available anymore. When I try to redeem the rewards, the highest one is only $115 worth of 2GB Ipod. For cash check, there is only $100 check option now.
Is there any other card which have similar bonus, so, then I can try to switch the card to to other type.

I believe in previous posts or threads... we covered that they discounted the 3% for NEW cards... people who already got the card will continue to receive the 3%..
as for the 50$ bonus when u get to 200... that I am not sure of 100%.
If you're close to $200 in reward points, quick ways of getting there: Open and fund a new Chase checking+savings account, limit $1000 per account, total $2000 AMEX $500 gift card: $5 FW Cash Back + free shipping code make it break even

Thank for the heads up....I just checked website and $250 is still available for me in Detroit market. FWIW, the item number among the reward options is F2607 for the $250 Chase Freedom Cash Check. I'm only a few dollars away from $200. The Lenovo deal last month should put me over the top.
probably shouldn't be spoon feeding, but try Citi Forward for 5x points on restaurants and bookstores (i.e. Amazon). that translates to 4% for mortgage payments, 3.125% cash, and for some people 5% for student loan payments.
followed by Fidelity Retirement rewards which gives you 2% toward Fidelity retirement accounts, or if you're really patient, 2% CashBack after you spend $12.5k

I haven't received a letter yet.. Chase usually sends me a ton of mail advertising Fraud Protector services so I think I might have thrown it out by mistake. Hopefully that isn't the case here. Thanks for posting the Citi card.. I've been looking for a new card for awhile because 0% Cash Back and 1% in rewards leaves much to be desired.
i think i did the SAME thing as 'eventuality'...thanks so much for posting. i've taken advantage of the $50 at least 6 different times. it's the best. too bad it's going.

I think if you have a checkings account with them as well as the card then none of this applies. Also if you get the movers pack from the post office you can get 125.00 bonus if opened by the end of May. The code will say it is expired but get online with a representive and they will accept it.

While Chase seems really liberal with their credit (I'm one of the FW deadbeats that always pays all bills in full, except when they used to make 0% or so BT offers with no fees, with a very good credit rating that pays them no fees and sucks down rewards) I don't know if its worth saving up points anyway, as other issuers such as FIA card services (BOA, Fidelity, Schwab cards) seem really liberal at closing accounts (mine and others) with the possibility of having your unredeemed points or dollars stolen/neutralized.
