Hi - I'm reading this statement in Office Depot's FAQ list for Ink and Toner Recycling:

"Your Recycling Rewards will not exceed the amount of your total annual Office Depot purchases (excluding taxes and shipping)."

If I'm right, for the end of 2Q/2009, that number will include all of my qualifying purchases for 1Q/2009, 4Q/2008, 3Q/2008, *AND* 2Q/2008 (excluding taxes & shipping).

For the end of 1Q/2009, let's say the above statement's true, and I had $10 in qualifying purchases for 1Q/2009, 4Q/2008, 3Q/2008, 2Q/2008, and 1Q/2008. I believe I would be able to claim $50 in ink/toner recycling rewards.

If I claim ALL $50 in ink/toner recycling rewards at the end of 1Q/2009, get my Ink/Toner Recycling Rewards in the mail, and make another $10 in qualifying purchases during 2Q/2009, would I be able to claim $60 in ink/recycling rewards for the end of 2Q/2009?

I'm hoping I can double/triple/quadruple dip against my purchases. I've also contacted Office Depot and await their reply.

Thanks for reading!

There are numerous threads on FW and other sites discussing the OD WL ink recycling program. In short, you can't double/triple /quadruple dip because purchases paid for with earned OD WL rewards cards don't count as purchase credit for future WD WL rewards or as qualifying purchase credit toward you annual spending requirements to receive ink rewards for recycled cartridges at OD. Those purchases made with your OD WL Reward show up as zero in your accrued OD qualifying purchase(s) for the quarter they are redeemed.
Also the corresponding annual OD min purchase requirement for OD WL ink recycling rewards runs from 1/1-12/31. It is not a revolving period as in your example. Since that change was only added on 12/17/2008 we are only in the 2Q of that new OD equivalent purchase requirement for the OD recycling program. No one knows when or how OD will apply the restriction to future pending rewards. OD CS is still adamantly stating that the requirement is not applied a quarterly basis as some here seem to think.

Thanks for telling me about the other threads on FW. After a more serious search, I found one thread whose Subject line reads:

Heads Up: New Changes to Office Depot's InkToner Cartridge Redemption Program Effective 11/9/2008

I subscribed to it, and I'll be following it closely.

I'm still trying to figure out one more word problem.

If I made qualifying purchases of $30 each quarter for 1Q, 2Q, 3Q, and 4Q 2009 and ...
if I turned in $12 in ink/toner recycling rewards for 1Q, and ...
if I turned in no ink/toner recycling rewards for 2Q and 3Q ...

would I be able to turn in 36 cartridges during 4Q 2009 at get $108 in rewards?

Thanks for the reply!

Yes indeed. Accordign to OD's terms as long as total OD annual purchases > total amount of of cartridges you turn in x $3.00 at the end of a particular quarter OD will send you the reward. If not, according to their terms they will roll over to the next quarter.

Keep in mind this OD reward amount will not exceed yearly OD spending restriction at this point is only hypotethical. I have not heard of a single instance posted were OD has penalized anyone but those are their posted terms.

What is considered as eligible purchase. I recycle a lot and next thing I notice that I am not getting any credit. They I see the new rule exceed your total annual Office Depot purchases (exclusions apply). What exclusions are these? I purchased a laptop to even my price but it doesnt show credit. Is it not eligible? if not, what items are eligible. Thanks
