Everything else is same in terms of price. I know lot of people complaint about data plan charges. ATT charges $30 for unlimited data same charged by Verizon.
Here is the comparison:
ATT 450 minute plan - $39.99 (22% FAN Discount, price dropped to $31.19) Data plan - $30.00 (22% FAN Discount, price dropped to $23.40) Add U200 feature code (Minute goes up from 450 to 650) Plus you get rollover minutes. Total cost - $54.49 for 650 minutes + rollover
Verizon 450 minute plan - $39.99 (22% Discount, price dropped to $31.19) Data plan - $30.00 (You don't get discount on data plan) No bonus minutes No rollover minutes. Total cost - $61.19 for 450 minutes
I suggest ATT if you live in Metro area in terms of price - otherwise Verizon is also good. Where does your FAN discount come from? Is it a corporate code from your employer? |

I'll agree I'll get crappy service with another provider probably...but they're all crappy. The state of the telecom industry in the US is absurd. You basically have to choose who you would like to have screw you. At this point, I've been happily screwed by Verizon for 4-5 years and am willing to give AT&T a shot at it now. |

Where does your FAN discount come from? Is it a corporate code from your employer? YES! It is from my employer. Use your work or school email address on AT&T Business site (I don't have the website address, but Bing it) to see if you qualify. |

With AT&T, you get corporate discount on data plan. With Verizon, NOOOOOOOOOOO, you only get discount on your first line. That's it. I am getting my FAN Corporate discount on my iPhone data plan. |

I am from India, and they have more than 5-6 nationwide carriers. They provide high class service without imposing 2 year contract requirement. You can get out any day any time without notification. You just need to change your SIM in the phone and you are on new carrier. I hope verizon and ATT start doing this, but that is just hope until more players comes in market. italstal222, I have been verizon customer for 8 years. Verizon is good in service but sucks in their line-up of phones. Let Verizon gives you good service with crappy phones and let me choose good phones with crappy service. enjoy your crappy phone. |

I just spent 30 minutes on the phone with Verizon, and the rep finally got back to me and said "We're going to credit this fee to you for the duration of your contract. Since you're not being charged this increase, you now have no basis for exiting the contract." I argued that it was still a fee increase and subsequent credit, which counted, but they wouldn't budge. Any thoughts on that? |

I was going to say...They have no right to try and circumvent their own contract. Glad to hear you got out of it. I'm still waiting on my bill to get posted. Hopefully tomorrow... |

Ok I am hoping someone can help as I have read through this thread but I am still a bit confused. I have a corp. discount through my work on my personal lines (18%).. I have two lines, one is mine the other is my brothers. His contract does not end until dec and they are saying if I cancel it now it will be $90. He NEVER pays his half of the bill on time and I wanted to cancel his service. So eventhough I have a corp. discount can I still try this for a secondary line?? Thanks in advance! |

Yes! you can always cancel one line and keep the primary line. You will get the corporate discount as long as you have active account with Verizon. corporate discount doesn't depend on numbers of line. Just call Verizon, ask them that you want to cancel your contract without ETF (follow script from first page). When they agreed to cancel your contract, you can tell them that you want to keep one line and want to cancel only one line. I see no problem because they are keeping you as a customer rather than loosing you. I suggest that when they agreed to cancel your contract, tell them that you want to keep your line on month to month basis and cancel secondary line. Here is what I did FOR THOSE WHO CHANGE THEIR MIND AFTER CANCELING THE CONTRACT WITHOUT ETF. I called and cancel all four lines without ETF. After two days, I went to Verizon Store and told them that I changed my mind, I want to keep two lines. Guy gave me special number for "WinBack Customer" department (1-800-523-8573). I called them and told them that I want to keep two lines. CSR gave me $150 credit toward future monthly bill plus he made both lines eligible for upgrade immediately. So, this way, I can get a discounted phone from Verizon for staying with them. I am moving other two lines to AT&T for iPhone. |

I-Toy (iphone) is rumored to be coming to verizon once ATT contract is up with apple. Also I hear lots of complaints about ATT service, bad signal and lots of dropped calls. Key word - RUMORED. For all you know AT&T will extend their contract with Apple... It is also rumored that the iphone would not head to Verizon until Verizon has fully converted to a different kind of network. I have better service with AT&T at my house than I did with Verizon. |

One of my friends is calling Verizon, and they're stonewalling her saying that this fee change is a "federal charge" that will be instituted by all carriers on July 1, so it doesn't trigger the contract exit. That doesn't sound legit, but that's all they're giving her. |

Have your friend call them back and read the following to them...It is WORD FOR WORD, from their contract. They can't deny it. "It also includes an Administrative Charge, which helps defray certain costs we incur, currently including (i) charges we, or our agents, pay local telephone companies for delivering calls from our customers to their customers, (ii) fees and assessments on network facilities and service, and (iii) certain costs and charges associated with proceedings related to new cell site construction. Please note that these are Verizon Wireless charges, not taxes. These charges, and what's included, are subject to change from time to time." Also, from your contract... "WE CAN ALSO CHANGE PRICES AND ANY OTHER CONDITIONS IN THIS AGREEMENT AT ANY TIME BY SENDING YOU WRITTEN NOTICE PRIOR TO THE BILLING PERIOD IN WHICH THE CHANGES WOULD GO INTO EFFECT. IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE YOUR SERVICE AFTER THAT POINT, YOU'RE ACCEPTING THE CHANGES. IF THE CHANGES HAVE A MATERIAL ADVERSE EFFECT ON YOU, HOWEVER, YOU CAN END THE AFFECTED SERVICE, WITHOUT ANY EARLY TERMINATION FEE, JUST BY CALLING US WITHIN 60 DAYS AFTER WE SEND NOTICE OF THE CHANGE." |

Yeah, I have no idea where they're pulling the "federal charge" thing from. They're either horribly confused or outright lying. |

Lying, no doubt. They'll fight you tooth and nail and claim anything they think might get you to back down. |
