I decided that fat wallet needs an official Steep and Cheap thread. For all of you who don't know, steep and cheap is a sister company of www.BackCountry.com. They have a new deal every 15-20 minutes throughout the day on merchandise from companies like the north face, Patagonia, Oakley, etc. SAC puts out a daily email giving examples of what will be offered each day. Since they don't state when it will be offered, this thread is designed to post great deals found on this site as they pop up. Also, if you see something in the daily email that you'd like to purchase, but know you will not be able to sit by the cpu and watch for it all day, post it here and someone with a deskjob who monitors the site (myself included) will post it for you. Then you'll be alerted to check this thread (assumming you subscribe to it)and go make your purchase. I have recently seen several great deals that I didn't want to purchase, but other fatwalleters would've loved such as Oakley gascan shades for $40 and north face denali jackets for $75. This will help all of the fat walleters get hooked up, even if they can't watch SAC all day. Hope this works and please don't flame me for trying something new. There's a new website out there called SAC Alerts that offers an instant alert notification service via email and text messages. You simply specify items that you are looking for through keywords like Oakley, Patagonia, fleece, tent, etc and as soon as an item is listed on steepandcheap.com with one of your keywords in the title, you will receive an alert via email or SMS instantly. It also has feeds of past items and lets you select specific items that you want to be alerted of should they become relisted (this works because over 60% of SteepandCheap items become relisted within 24 hours). The alerts also work with all six of BackCountry.com's one-deal-at-a-time sites: bonktown.com, brociety.com, chainlove.com, steepandcheap.com, tramdock.com, whiskeymilitia.com.
