THOSE OF YOU WHO SIGNED UP THINKING YOU WERE GETTING A 3 WEEK OR 3 MONTH TRIAL BACK ON 6/26, they have bait and switched the expiration date to JULY 7th (2 days from now!) YOU MUST CANCEL BY 7/7 IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET CHARGED $19.99!!
Of course, he shouldn't have said anything negative about your super hot deal. No one should remind you that BB sent an email to all those who signed up. Or that people who signed up for a DVD rental from BB will obviously not disregard a BB email about their account status as junk. Or that such matters should be posted in the original thread under 'expired deals'.

you are totally missing the point here.
The email that was sent out was changing it from 3 months to 3 weeks. that would mean an expiration date of 7/16 for 3 weeks. They are showing expiration date of 7/7 now!! Don't you see that all these people who got that email thinking they have until 7/15 to cancel will be charged IN 2 DAYS!
who is going to check expired deals for this? give me a break.
Thanks, just cancelled! Reason: "I signed up for a 3 month trial, received a confirmation email showing I wouldn't be billed until September, and then you retroactively switched it to a 3 week trial. I refuse to do business with a shady company. I'm sticking with NetFlix!"
got july 7 too but that is not even 2 weeks! they are really f'd up and slow to ship movies. no great loss though because i was running out of movies worth seeing.

The flood of charge backs they will get from this may push them over the edge then...
I have no problem with this thread. Thanks for trying to get the word out. Wowww...!!! Run don't walk...to your brokerage acc. manager. Then, place a short-sell order for 100,000 of BBI.

not getting charged $20 when you're not expecting to! granted not a hot deal, but so many FW'ers affected by this, most won't see if not in hot deals. that's all. just trying to save folks some aggravation.
Those who are thinking of staying with BB. Think twice.
I been with BB online since they started. It was all working great then movies gets longer and longer to show up, until they stopped all together.
It turns out my queue is full of "long wait". Mind you, these are not some recent release movies either and I don't copy stuff and sent it back the same day either.
Just for grins, I let these sit on top of my queue and see how long it takes.
- Startrek voyager Season 6
So far, it's been 6+ months. I suspect either a problem with their computer system or they don't have it.
Speaking for myself, I check FW Hot Deals daily; and FW Deal Discussion and my "temporary" email (used for BB) almost never. It is really worth my saved time and aggravation to find this heads-up over here. On top of that, a $19.99 charge on the CC I used, would tip it over, and it would incur an Overlimit Fee of $35. Reasons enough for me to than MC, and not threadcrap.
Besides, the mods, who are savvier than most of us, are leaving it up here. 'nuff said!
hmmm, went to cancel and got a "server error". also, they switched their service to be even worse, used to you would get more sent to you as soon as you turned them into the store for and exchange/rental, now you don't get one sent through the mail until you return the one from the store...BBI is going down for sure.

I cancelled a BB free trial last month and they charged my credit card for the following month anyway. I sent an email and they reversed the charge but watch your credit card statements....
That's why it is essential to sign up for all trial offers with a virtual CC number. You can set its limit below the possible charge amt and close it an any time.

I just cancelled my subscription online and it was effective immediately. I got one month time, till 08/05 to ship back the DVDs that I have.
That's what I thought also till they replied to my email about this whole fiasco and in the email it says:
We still continue to ship movies until 10 days before your account becomes completely inactive. Please return the movies 10 days after you account gets inactive to avoid additional charges.
so they screwed up yet again.
BB hasn't gotten one thing correct the entire time my acoount was active and now even after it's cancelled.
i called bb and they said trial was changed on 7/4 and will not be billed until 8/7 even though billing cycle says 7/7. since they sent out an email stating you have 3 week trial, they really can't charge you early, so i'm going to chance it.

TIP: If you have a DVD that's processing or about to ship today, you might want to wait till tonight. You will get 1 more DVD if you cancel it tonight
Another tip. If you have DVDs on hand, trade them at BB B&M tonight if you have one around. This trial membership is good for 5 trades. Then cancel.

I signed up on 6/25, and they changed the next billing date to 7/7/09 a few days ago. So I emailed their customer service today telling them the 3 week trial period doesn't end until the 7/13, and this afternoon they changed my next billing date to 8/7/09. I printed the screen and will keep my free trial membership until next month.
for some reason my subscription is expiring on 7/16 giving me a full 3 weeks. thanks mc for trying to help all these people. ignore the haters!

I just checked my account again today, and BB changed my next billing date again to 7/17/09!!! This is rediculous, the next billing date seems to change from day to day. Although this time they finally got the ending date correct for a 3 weeks free trial membership. So for those of you still haven't cancelled, check your account again!
same here changed to 7/17. it appears there are some very bad communication problems at blockbuster and little quality control. not even an email to alert potential customers. can't complain too much, the movies are free!
Apparently this snafu caused several knee jerk reactions at BB. My account changed next bill date several times. From the original 9/26 to 7/07, then 8/09 and now 7/17. Is there an executive at BB with half a brain? Do they really expect any of the trial members to stay after this?

What do we do now. BB stinks and Netflix stinks. Netflix cancelled my account with 6 months of a gift card left and told me tough luck. I guess it's red box from now on.
Ya know, I'm not really all that mad they didn't give me the 3 months free. A bit disappointed, yes, and I don't like how it appears to have been a legit offer bailed upon rather than a mistake (bad karma), but I'm only halfway through my 3-week trial and I'm impressed with what I have experienced so far. I may find it worth $20/mo since I'm using it to experience my Blu-Ray player and so far I've seen like 10 movies (they've been turning around uber fast for me, coupled with the in-store trade option). However, they're going to have to majorly increase their Blu Ray selection to keep me on as my must-see's are almost done with already.
Sadly, with the way I've seen BlockBuster run in the past, they will see this issue incorrectly. For them they will decide to slow down the turn-around for BluRay watchers to ensure they don't run out of titles to watch instead of increasing their available titles, thus killing the value of the deal, and running away their customers...or so is my guess on how this will likely pan out despite Blu Ray prices dropping greatly as of recently.
Thanks for the heads up. Cancelled today, would have been billed tomorrow instead of the 9/17 date that it had initially said when I signed up. Can I still use my 3 movies for in store trades?

Online account says my next billing date is Jul 17. But when I called I was told it doesn't end till Jul 25 and I won't be billed untill Aug. 17. They've got their systems screwed up.
d3a1ninja said: exactly why I use redbox and netflix on demand And even more reason to love my library. 10-MOVIES, 7 DAYS — multiplied by 3 LIBRARIES within 12 miles of my house + online catalog browsing = 100% free movies. Add Red Box for the (rare) occassions I can't wait to see the movie and I frankly have more movie selection than I have time to watch lol.
