Called tonight to cancel my subscription.. was offered 5 months for a total of $19.99 to stay on board. I took it.

if you want to stay longer, it may be better to do the $77 per year special due to the upcoming $2 royalty payment being attached.

got the same deal 3 weeks ago, jusdt had to move the cancel date out 5 months

I called to cancel my sub because I moved overseas & didn't get any incentives to stay. Obviously because I can't get XM/Sirius overseas but my wife loves the online radio so was hoping to work a deal for that. Now I would have to pay $12/month for just the online radio.

is there anyway that i can get starmate 5 for free?

i currently have $16.99 plan and my stratus 4 just stop working so i need a new radio..

i like the design of starmate 5 so is there any way that i can get it for free? maybe from retention?

Got a targeted mail offer for this promo about a month back. I took it as well. Just make sure you don't forget to cancel before the last day of that 5-month period or your service continues at the normal monthly rate. I'm guessing they'll make me another offer when I call to cancel again. SiriusXM is desperate for customers.

I called to cancel and they just said okay and let me. Later my mom called to cancel her plan and they offered her a new rate of $3.50 a month.

Sounds like an FML to me.

Whats this about Royalty fee?

I'd been meaning to call and cancel all 3 radios. I've been an XM subscriber since 2004.

I'm currently paying $142 for my primary radio and $98/each for the other two.

I recently re-did the one-year contract for my two primaries, so they offered a royalty-fee free price for my third radio ($83.88/yr). Since I'd also cited the fee for online listening as a reason for cancellation, the rep offered free online listening.

I turned down that offer, since it still meant $324/yr, which seemed a bit steep to me.

The rep countered with a "... since you've been a customer since 2004 and always paid on-time, we can extend $77/year on all three radios for a year..." and still included free online streaming. That works out to $6.41/mo with free streaming. And it was good enough to keep me.

For whatever reason, she had to re-setup my online streaming account, so I provided her with a new email address and password to use.

Done and done! Thanks Fatwallet!

Sold my car with a built in XM Radio. Called XM to cancel that radio when I traded the car in. Today I realized that they cancelled my Boombox subscription instead of my built-in radio. I called to complain, and ended up cancelling all three of my radios. No attempt was made to keep me as a customer. I have had 3 radios for 4 years, and they let me walk without any attempt at keeping me. I think its time to sell my SIRI stock as well. I've doubled my money, and if they keep treating customers like this.....they'll be out of business soon anyway. Too bad, i love my XM, and made lots of money when I sold my stock a couple years back.

i canceled a subscription off my sirius subscription because my best friend had his subscription on my account but he traded his car(2/2009) in they call me tonight and ask me why i have cancel and I told them I traded my car in but I still have three accounts (lifetime, portable one year, and best friends wifes car) well they notice my best friends wife car was up for renewal and they offer me the 77 subscription so I said yea because i just paid 100 something for my portable last month. well they went through the process and then came back and told me sorry that offer is no longer valid and that the offer is now 53 dollars for a year and with tax and everything will be 57 bux so i said what the hell i take it. Hell I go a deal without calling and answer the phone by misstake lol

Jeez - shot down! Called to re-activate my subscription, and the lady right off the bat said that they were not offering any specials, and the cheapest annual plan was $142!

I'm sure the retention offer you get depends on the agent you get, your reason for canceling and the number you call. If you take the retention offer, just set a reminder and call again when that offer is done. They plan on you forgetting and having it renew the next time.

I just called. You must ask for retention.. Do not speak to an agent. Retention.. Tell them u were going to cancel unless they offer you a great deal. Any you are calling to see what they can offer you..First they will offer the $77 for the year.. Them go.. humm I dont know . Do you have any other promotions any shorter promos.. They will offer you the 5 months for $19.95. I just did it 10 minutes ago

Just called today 9/4/09 and renewed two radios for five months for a total of $26.64!!!

Only $2.65/month per radio! (But no internet listening at that price.)

Number I called was 888-539-7474, spoke with a man who said he was working the call center in Alberta, Canada.

Thanks, I got this today.

Do they have Americans when you call to cancel?

I had XM 5 years ago and if I needed to do anything over the phone... it was terrible, the customer service people were in some third world country and I could barely understand them.

total 5-month for me was $23.05 just a second ago. it was either that or something like $88 for the year. i went to the cancellation dept and just asked for a reasonable price and then a shorter duration after he told me the one year price. i also got it to automatically cancel after the period so there is no surprise renewal. thanks for the tips. btw, definitely canadian.

You guys did way better than I ever did with Sirius radio. We had two radios, I phoned them early this spring and told them that we were cancelling our subscription due to finances here (this was March 15th I believe). Anyhow, the rep said, you are paid up thru the end of the month so it will conclude after that time. Well, the next day I'm heading to work, no radio...they had shut my account off immediately? I phoned back that evening and explained what happened. The rep said it was paid up thru the end of the month and she didn't know why they turned it off then? She then begins to ask questions as to why I had cancelled. I told her of our job issues and that we just couldn't afford it. Keep in mind, we were paying the full price of it, we had no discount when we originally signed up for it waaay back. Anyhow, the rep offers us the 5 months for $19.99. Since my spouse wasn't home at the time, I asked if they needed an answer right then, she said no. I told her I would talk to spouse and call back the next day. She said she would make a note on my account screen, no problem.

Fast forward, next day...I phoned back, had a rep pull up my account. I begin to tell her we would like to try the $19.99 for 5 months. She says, there is no offer as such? I explained to her that I had just spoken to ?? (I had the person's name) and this was what I was told the day before. Then she says, oh that offer has expired? Huuuuuuuhhhhhhhh?? I told her I was not given a 24 hour expiration time when it was offered? Anyhow, she really didn't care so I told her to cancel the account period. I was beyond frustrated with this company. I can't say as I miss it now, not for what they were charging us. I think I received 2 phone calls back then from Sirius and I told them the story. To be honest, they really didn't seem to care. Guess what, I haven't lost any sleep over it either. It was a win-win situation for all of us. Best of luck to all users!

just got a letter in the mail from Sirius/XM... they are giving everyone 2 free weeks of programming (60 channels, Nov. 17-30), and still offering $20 for 5 months.

Yep, I just got that same letter for my Chevy truck for the XM service (60 channels free for the two weeks then $20 for 5 months of 170 channels). I may bite for that.

just got the letter too, I'll bite for $20 - but thats the most it is worth to me $4 a month

Wow! My account was set to expire in December so I called to cancel. Retentions offered me $19.99 for 5/mo plus a free month credit ($14.95). They canceled my account and credited back the money from the lost month, applied the free month credit and added 5 months to my account - total charge today? $2.37. Smokin'!

Both this 5 months for $20 and the 1 year for $77 are both still alive and well. I was offered both when I "called to cancel" yesterday. This is the second round of 5 months/$20 that I have done.
